Summary:

A long time ago, by internet standards (3 years), the suggestion was made that there should be an AU where Ian owns a yarn store and Rachel came in as a customer, so I started writing. Technically this meets that spec.

Got my head in the TAALS universe a lot today. Kind of a weird comfort project I know, but hey. I'm a weird chick 😂

I'm about a third of the way through my first draft of the sequel, which is told from Jamie's point of view. It's slow going because there's a major part of the plot that challenges a key element of Jamie's personality, and he's digging his heels in a bit. Even in my own head, he's a stubborn ass.

This year I set myself the arbitrary goal to hit 100 works and a million total words on Ao3. I'm sitting one story and 188k away, so still doable. But I've got this weird, kinda sentimental idea that I want TAALS2 to either hit the million words or the 100th story mark. It won't be both lol, but it'll probably knock that 188k down by about half.

I've got a TON of WIPs in my drafts... another Cocktail Theory, the next installment of The Conquered, some poor God's of War one shots that have been languishing, and a bunch of other stuff I haven't mentioned here before. And I think the hold up on all of those is that they're... not TAALS2.

So I'm going to largely set those other WIPs aside and focus on TAALS2 more exclusively. I'll come back to the other things probably, but I'm giving myself permission to go a long time without posting new work and to just wallow in my angsty little passion project.

Also going to ramble about it from time to time (probably a lot more than I should lol), so be ye warned. Just gonna go ham on the obsessed with this part.

Most of you know this is technically a side blog (damn you, hellsite purges of 2018). It looks like some recent updates to tumblr have created better moderation options but they don't seem to work on side blogs.

Because of that, I'm going to bite the bullet and just migrate my activity to my primary blog, which will come with a name change. I'll cross post here for a while and then lock this one up for good. @mistresspandora-oldblog is where I'm going to post from.

And then we can get back to our regularly scheduled queerlander shitposting 😁

i don’t know who needs to hear this but fic doesn’t need to follow canon lmao it doesn’t need to keep the same characters dead, it doesn’t need to keep the same characters alive, it doesn’t need to set at the current point in the timeline, it doesn’t need only include current characters and relationships, it absolutely doesn’t need to satisfy some stranger on the internet’s weird expectations on what should or shouldn’t be allowed, it only needs to be something you enjoy writing about because it’s fic and that’s literally what fic is for

no but how much audacity and sheer entitlement do you have to have to tell people they need to stop posting their darkfic and porn fic and any other fic you don’t like to ao3 so you can have a safe space when ao3 was literally created as a safe space for writers to post their content without fear of it being randomly wiped out by pro-censorship assholes with an agenda like what has happened to plenty of other fic archives before?

“but a lot of us see ao3 as a safe space to get away from that kind of nasty content” - lol you can see the middle of a busy interstate as a safe space all you want too but that doesn’t mean that you get to walk into the road and scream at all the cars going by that they’re the ones infringing on your safe space either

ao3 is not, has never been, and will never be a site meant for nothing but children’s stories. you can “see it” like that as much as you want but there’s a difference between fiction and reality and that view of what ao3 is like is as fictional as the stories posted on it.

If you don’t like the diverse content of AO3 you can

1. Use another site like FF.net or Wattpad, etc. that are heavily moderated and picky about what you’re allowed to post.

2. Use their open source code to make your own site.

3. Actually use the tagging filter, that’s literally what it’s there for and then read the summaries of the content you’re about to consume.

AO3 allows everything, bc most sites that ban certain content end up banning things that don’t qualify, usually LGBT and neuro-atypical content. There would constantly be purges on other sites with the idea to remove ‘harmful’ works and end up wiping out a lot of things that don’t apply simply for the risk. AO3 has a tagging system to avoid this. You can 100% be annoyed a fic isn’t properly tagged, but if a fic is properly tagged and you seek it out, that’s on you. And AO3 fics are usually tagged very well bc the author wants to get the fic to its intended audience.

If you don’t like a fic or genre, don’t read it, block the author, whatever, but don’t make it everyone else’s problem, you’re not the only person here.
