‘mystery of love’ by sufjan stevens but you’re picking flowers in your countryside backyard while your neighbor who you’re secretly in love with plays music you can hear through their open window. (headphones recommended)

Play love songs from the 50’s at night, when your bedroom window is open and you have a view of the moon
i miss being young in the summer, being innocent. i was seventeen the year royals by lorde went platinum. it was the month i met the boy who became the man i wanted to marry, the year i became a person who knew what they wanted. driving through my city with the windows down while that song played for the thousandth time on the radio station, watching cottonwood seeds drift past my hands which where, that year, still heavy with childhood, hadn’t held anything they could keep, hadn’t held anything they loved. what a strange thing to be young in a year that balanced like a coin on it’s rim, a year that balanced between the past and the future, my childhood and who i was going to be. i borrowed my mother’s credit card so i could buy the love club ep on itunes. i listen to royals and i can smell cherry freeze-pops and sunscreen. there are seventeen year olds this year who listen to royals and were too young at it’s release to understand it, maybe, and i think of these kids and i feel so fiercely protective of them, my chest aches for them and for the version of them i once was and i want to tell them to clutch onto being young. don’t race to grow up, you have time, walk slowly, listen to your music. you have infinity to be who you’re going to be. i think i finally understand virginia woolf.
i love jane eyre but honestly imagine being friends with that bitch. like imagine trying to convince her to leave rochester and she’s like idk and you’re like he called u ugly???? he keeps his secret wife locked in the attic???? wake up???? and then you think she finally has it sorted out and she calls you a few months later like “his wife killed herself and burned down the house so it’s cool we’re getting married” like !!!!!!!!!!!! HOW DO YOU GO TO THAT WEDDING!!!!!!
asoiaf characters x greek mythology: foils, parallels, deconstructions and archetypes
please, read take these as associations solely to the specific characters, they do not reflect relations between them - eg, Jon is ofc not Jaime’s father…
also, this scheme delineates associations of many types, which are not divided because often they overlap, between foils, parallels, deconstructions and archetypes, so linking an ASOIAF character to a “negative” mythological figure doesn’t necessarily condemn the first.
