The piece I did for the Traversing Realms compilation with other wonderful gorgeous artists.

The Garuda and the tales surrounding this mythical creature/god in the various subcultures of South East Asian folklore was what inspired this piece. There are many stories of the Garuda taking the form of a human being for various reasons. I wanted to depict the ambiguity of a tale between the woman and the creature that would form in the minds of the viewer.

1) Kartikeya (or Murugan), who’s the son of Shiva, and his wives, Valli and Deivayanai (mostly depicted as twins, however some sources say they were two seperate women altogether)

2) Ardhanashivara (or Ardhanarishvara, sorry for not knowing the right name for it, hehe) is a divine form made of Shiva and Parvati (or sometimes Shakti, Sati, so many names)
