Inquisitor: Have you heard of the Warden they're talking about? Blackwall: Can't say that I have.
This is so funny when the Warden in question is Alistair Theirin, who pretty infamously just ten years ago was one of two (2) Grey Wardens to end the Fifth Blight and also very publicly almost landed on the throne of Ferelden in the process
on the use of the word "okay" in thedas
So, "okay" is a word that doesn't appear much in DA dialogue through the first three installments, though it's become quite common by Veilguard.
Likely not an intentional evolution, but a symptom of the fact that the language used in DAV is generally more contemporary than the other installments. Still. Let's play in the space. Because it's not that no one uses "okay" before then. It's actually a relatively common Varric word -- he says it in both DA2 and DAI.
Obvious conclusion: "Okay" is dwarven slang.
(Corollary headcanon: Increased contact with the surface has spread dwarven slang more widely. Perhaps even helped by the popularity of Varric's books...)
Over my breakfast this morning I stared into space wondering what the origins of "OK" could be in the dwarven context. Orzammar is the obvious O. So... Orzammar Kingdom? Orzammar King?
Of course. "OK" is the seal that Orzammar's king uses to express that a document has his approval.
Don't worry everyone. It all makes sense now.
"OK" being the Orzammar King's seal and now part of common parlance through the Merchant's Guild is now canon.

Watson and I feel that, in order to do our best work, the chemistry needs to be right.
#see THIS is what makes Sherlock in Elementary so unique#a lot of versions of Sherlock#or pretty much Any modern crime drama would have the brilliant detective calling the other detectives ‘idiots’#or ‘amateurs’ or basically insulting their intelligence and ability as detectives#here Sherlock is both acknowledging their skill as detectives and crediting that to their Captain’s leadership#while also acknowledging that he can’t work with them because THEY don’t like him#all the while he is accepting as fair because he’s self-aware to know he’s not easy to work with#there are ways to depict an anti-social genius without being a huge asshole to everyone#and this is it

I saw this and had to save this image cause I definitely have a few readers like this.
tags are definitely the sotto voce of tumblr but i also feel like the limitations of punctuation in tags (no commas or quotation marks) give tag comments a unique cadence compared to body-text comments? sometimes i have Something To Add but can only figure out how to phrase it in the Tags Register

Do you have specific designs in mind for each type of Nymph?( dryads, naiads etc)
oh i love this questioonnn 🎶
I picture them as very elemental creatures, very connected to Gaia, Pontos, and the greater entities of the world... So that's why they have more natural and animal features than gods and humans.
We've already met Amphitrite and Aenon and they're the perfect Oceanids. Scaly skin, large fins, a strong tail, flowy hair... The Naiads, their river cousins, are very similar, but I picture them smaller and nimble, since they don't need to brave the open seas!
Then we have the Earth people - Oreads, mountain nymphs, Dryads, the guardians of the forests, and Satyrs!
I imagine the Oreads like a pocket version of the rock people from the Neverending Story (lol), with stone-like skin and very sturdy. We'll have some dryads, flower and tree nymphs during the story, but they take so much from Gaia physically and resemble her a lot. And then we've got Satyrs - we'll see both male and female satyrs around. They're loud and fun but very loyal (some of the first to join the rebellion), muscly and always ready to go.
This was a really fun practice to decompress hehe ✨ Thank you!!

🌊 Birth of Aphrodite 🌊
I kinda figured it was a really violent event, with Cronos slaying Uranus and all that family drama... So I had a very clear image of her emerging from a sea of blood and foam (sorry for the gore 😂)
She'll be a key character in Part Two of The Time Wars, as she's one of the closest "relations" to the blood of Uranus 👀 Hope you can see more of her soon enough ❤️ This was my Patreon piece for January, thanks for your support!
