I've had the most wonderful, yet incredibly busy, summer in years. I started a seasonal job, went to The Eras Tour, fell in love with the kindest person, and managed to save up some money for University. However, just after finishing work on Sunday, I noticed my cat was having trouble breathing. I took her to the vet, and we discovered she has some heart issues. She's on temporary treatment while we determine the best course of action, but sadly, losing her is still a possibility. Needless to say, I'm feeling quite overwhelmed right now, so I don't think I can return here for the time being. I'll be back, but for now, please keep my sweet baby in your thoughts 🤍
I've been asked how to add a search bar to Amethyst, and since I thought this tutorial would be useful, I decided to post it. Please read under the cut.
First, you'll need to add some CSS. You can place this CSS right under the <style> tag. If you prefer to be precise, paste it right before #posts.
This is the styling of the search bar, and it matches the ones I've already added in my other themes.
Then, add this line of HTML right after </nav>: <form action="/search" method="get"><input type="text" name="q" autocomplete="off" value="" placeholder="{lang:Search}..." /></form>

oh, the credit is in the bottom right corner! it’s one of @mitium’s old themes (i think it’s called “artemis” but i’m not positive). i can’t seem to find it on their blog anymore, so they may have deleted it? you could always ask them!
hi, first i wanna thank you for sharing such responsive and beautiful themes :) i have similar question about hera theme that other anon asked before, but i was wondering if i could perhaps change the (hope i say it right, i know just a little of coding) margin for the tags to be smaller? i kind of tend to rant in the tags and i noticed the gap between the tags can be quite large - but if this counts as big customization, please feel free to ignore! thank you so much in advance.
Hello! You can adjust the spacing in the customization panel. If it still feels too large for you, find column-gap: var(--spacing) and replace it with your preferred value.

Sidebar Image icon: Choose between sizes 80x80px/100x100px/120x120px. Choose a shape between shapes square, rounded, circle or blob. Separate icons for light and dark mode! But If you want the same icon, simply upload it twice.
Dark Mode: If you decide to offer dark mode, it detects if the visitor’s operating system is on dark mode, and displays that choice at the first visit - of course with the option to toggle the other mode on/off.
Icon change for update tab: To change the icons, go to https://tabler.io/icons and simply copy the name of the icon like so:

Via/source links are on permalink pages
to hide the archive link, simply delete the text in the field.
Submit-link and ask-link only shows if toggled on in your blog's settings.
Instead of one post size, you can now enter your desired post size (i.e. 500px or 40vw). The same applies to the sidebar. The container will automatically resize itself depending on how big or small the sidebar and posts are.
A drop-down menu. Instead of having a separate sidebar box for extra links and page links, they’re all under the “navigation” box.
A sidebar image. The default image is your header image, but you can always change it in the customization panel under the name “sidebar.” There is no option to hide it. The only way to hide it is to delete the entire box containing the image.
The mobile version of the theme is now similar to TTYL’s mobile theme, but it’s definitely better than what it was originally.
