It’s early in the morning, or perhaps it’s well off into the night when an owl pecks at your window. Curiosity eats at you as you eye the prim envelope in its beak and you let it in. It delivers its message, and you begin to open and read what’s inside:

Dear Student,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.
