“Did you really drink that whole bottle of coke in one go?” Kris looked at the stranger, who was standing in the middle of the convenience store with the 2 liter in their hand. “Are you even human?”
minniexmin:
Of course, maybe she was too rude. But she still didn’t realize why would he drag her into his car and additionally to that handcuff her to the door. An action made by him on purpose made her even more mad, but this time she decided to hold her tongue and simply listen to whatever he had to say. She didn’t want to sound even more rude, but he looked old enough for her to assume that he was in his forties, not younger. She was drunk, she wasn’t able to think properly. Also the comments about her not being able to stand up for herself made it even more difficult not to bark back.
“How do I know how old you are…” She huffed and turned her head to the window, crossing her arms on her chest. She tried to change the conversation now. It seemed that they both were insulted and the tension in the car was getting only bigger and more dangerous. She was in the cop’s car, so she had to hit her head against the imaginary wall and watch her words, she couldn’t say too much. She was careful most of the times, even when drunk, but now she felt like she had way too much of the alcohol, so she had to be twice as careful. Even if her appearance would make her rambles sound like a joke.
“It’s dumb to assume that just because I’m a woman, I can’t stand up for myself…” She rolled her eyes at the man. What did he know about her, maybe she has a black belt in karate and would have the man on the ground in a matter of seconds. Maybe she was a serial killer and she could easily stalk the prey later on and have him killed somewhere in the dark corners of Seoul. But in all honesty, she was glad he interfered, as she didn’t know how the whole situation could end. She might have caused some trouble not just for herself, but her gang as well. Clubs usually had undercover and paid big cash for gangs to look after them or deal with some illegal stuff. She didn’t want that to happen, so deep down she was thankful for the man, she just wasn’t ready to admit that. “Ok, so where are you going to bring me?”
He groaned and ran his hand through his hair to take a deep breath. If he let his emotions take over him now then the girl would have another enemy on her hands. Kris wasn’t known to keep his temper under control very well if the situation never let up and the arguing continued until suddenly someone was being a jail cell.
“I didn’t say that just because you are a girl, you cant handle yourself.” He glared at her. “Some of the best and strongest I know are women....besides, with that mouth of yours I bet you have no issues in taking care of business.” He knew man strong women, his mother being one of them. From all that he could remember of her, she had always been strong willed and could easily take care of herself and her family at the same time, and from what he learned about her after her death he had found her to be much more then that. All the dangerous things she fought through to get her family to safety.....there was no other woman like her.
“Im taking you to my shop for coffee, get you sober so you can at least think normally.” He eventually arrived at his small shop, parking the car and getting out to walk to the passengers side, reaching in to uncuff the woman and hold her arm. “No funny business okay?” Kris warned her as he unlocked his door and bought her inside, the small of musty old books welcoming them as he turned on the light to reveal the book shop. Bookshelves were filled, floors held piles of literature, mountains of them and in the corner was a little cafe brew.
He cuffed her to the counter and let her sit down comfortable as he walked over and made her coffee.

“I think I found your dog..”
The weather had been nice that day and during those days, Kris would keep the door open to his Bookstore to let in some fresh air for the books and sometimes stray animals would wander in, one regular being a white cat that would perch itself on the tallest mountain of books while he sat near the front desk, reading over his case files. However, today he had been greeted by a new guest, a black lab with a cheerful smile on its face. The lab had made its way to his cafe area in search for the delicious smell of cookies he had just baked. Luckily they had a tag with a number on it and soon he was calling the owner who he was sure in a frantic mood looking for the pup.
“he wandered into my shop...can you come by and get him?”
@mingyuxmi
Kris was on a case, a case dealing with theft and homicide that the SPD had tossed to him to take care of, figures, why would they choose to deal with something that was possibly connected to a gang. He made a note to himself to lecture Chief Sukjin about it later sine he was in charge of gang crimes, but for now he would settle in investigating the mystery.
The murder had been clean and precise, a perfect hit of a hit man, he was positive, however the theft in the matter was what caught his eye and soon his leads led him to the whispers of a hit man and thief tied to the gang, known as Vanguard. It wasn’t easy finding the guy but with his expert digging and observing skills, he was soon face to face with his suspect.
“So, you come here often?” Kris had tracked the kid down to a underground club, moving over to him near the bar. “Ive never been here but I hear they have great tequila..”
minniexmin:
She wasn’t sure how the hell she ended in a situation like this. Last thing she remembered was her kissing some hot chick and then she was fighting a huge dude who was twice as tall. He was probably her boyfriend or something, otherwise he wouldn’t interrupt their making out session. It was kinda late and she was definitely too drunk to think of any proper actions. Yet, she couldn’t think of a reason why would she end up in a police officer’s car, handcuffed. That was absurd.
Even though a man to her left was telling her not to wiggle her arm that much, she kept on pulling it and moving in her seat for few more minutes before she got tired of the repetitive action. “Aishhh—-” She threw her head back against the seat and whined loudly, now acting like a child who didn’t get the desired candy and tantrums didn’t seem to work either. “It’s none of your business. It’s my wrist so I can do whatever the hell I desire to do with it!” She spoke loudly. Of course, she was really drunk and she usually when she was in such state, she wasn’t able to control her voice tone. “Let me go, I can walk on my own. I need no father to look after me.” She whined again, now turning her head to his side and looking at him with her drunk, puppy eyes.
“Do you even have permission do this kind of fuckery, old man?” She asked him, raising one of her eyebrows, as her eyes were still glued to the man who was sitting in a driver’s seat. “I could sue you, here— It’s.. It’s a —” She was moving her index finger around, as she tried to find right words, but of course in this state she wasn’t able to make her mind and speak clearly and make any sense at all.. Once she realized that she wasn’t in state to argue or run away, she gave up. “Okay, old man… Sooooo what you gonna do? Arrest me?” She moved even closer to him, but soon realized that her ability to move completely freely was limited, as she was still handcuffed to the door. Her last statement and question was stupid, as she was already, in fact, arrested.
Kris abruptly stopped his car on the side of the road, making the strange girl lunge forward and then hit backwards into the car seat, an action made on purpose. He parked and glared at her. Who was she to insult him when he practically saved her life from being beaten down by a man in fury and jealously? Father? old man? he was still in his thirties! talk about rude manners.
“Yah, you were the one making out with the club owner’s girlfriend, just be glad I pulled you out of there in time before they had you sleeping with the fishes they were cooking in the back.” He grumbled in silence for a moment as she continued to struggle and call him names. “Father? old man? yah--I’m not that old! I’m still young!” He huffed and gripped the steering wheel in anger. “you better be thankful you are a woman or I wouldn’t have stepped in to save you in the first place.”
Kris sat there in thought of what he was going to do with her. He did have the licence to arrest her, but on what grounds? and he hadn’t read her her rights yet anyway, all he did was grab her and get her in the car before the angry man reached them, speeding off to escape. Now what?
“Im not arresting you, but I am gonna get you sobered up so you dont do something ridiculous again and get yourself killed.”
mixdoyoung:
“First of all, this is discrimination,” he grouches as he continues to stubbornly attempt to squeeze his wrist out of the cuffs. “It makes no sense that I’m the only one taking a ride with some cop on a power trip when clearly that bastard was just as guilty as I was.”
Just talking about it makes him even more fired up, “Fucking hell, he wasn’t just as guilty. He was guilty-er. He harassed me first! Just cause the fucker doesn’t have the brawn to back up his bark isn’t my fault.”
He narrows his eyes at the perceived challenge, “You underestimate me officer.”
Holding the man’s gaze, he abruptly starts gnawing on his cuffed wrist. Normally, he isn’t this stupid even when playing up his defiance. But he’ll blame it on the alcohol-induced haze in his head that’s encouraging the childish behavior.
It hasn’t occurred to him yet, that he could just pick the lock. But it likely isn’t going to occur to him anytime soon seeing how maiming himself in the name of ‘FREEDOM’ was currently poised at the top of his list of ‘escape methods’.
"First off, I am not an officer, I’m a P.I..” He stated as he took the exit towards his home, deciding coffee at his cafe would do the childish man some good. “And secondly, I took you instead of him because if I hadn’t he would have shot you point blank with that gun he had in his pocket.”
Kris reached over and slapped his hand to get him to stop gnawing on the handcuff. “Stop it-- you are just gonna hurt yourself.” He sighed and thought to himself on why he even bothered to help this guy when he was clearly undeserving of it. Kris wasn’t really known to just help anyone off the streets, in fact those who did know of the Former SPD lead detective, they knew him as a man who would betray and cut you off like scissors to thread if he had to. However, he had his moments of random helping, unfortunately, he may have regretted this one.
“Man...how much did you drink?” He pulled into his parking spot of a small bookstore and cafe that he inherited from his parents, the same place he chose to live in as well. “Come on, coffee will be your savior tonight.”
+
“Don’t worry, I didnt come here to annoy you today like usual” He leaned against the door frame, holding up a case file of his own records. “I came here on business...which is still technically annoying you~” He chuckled.
“I have you handcuffed to the car door because I cant trust you, so stop trying to wiggle out of it” Kris spoke to the person in his passenger’s seat. They had found them causing issues on the street and decided to take them for a drive to sober them up. “You are only gonna hurt your wrist if you keep pulling on it!”

Kwangsoo sang the same song he always found himself drifting to whenever he visited the closest Noraebang near the shop. Baby V.O.X’s Missing you had become an anthem for him to sing, especially when thoughts of his sister came to him. He didn’t sing the song because it reminded him of her since the song was sang as if missing a lover, no, he sang the song because it had been the last song they snag together. Him and his sister had been frequent visitors of the Noraebang, always going there on Friday nights to sing emotional ballads and fun pop songs with each other. They sang everything, no matter what the song was about, they sang it and they performed it as if they had been the pop stars who created it. The tradition had been Kwangsoo’s idea after his sister had shared her dream of becoming a singer and an actress, taking her to the karaoke spot to practice as well as finding an excuse to bond with her. Their voices had never really matched since he had been a horrible singer, but to his sister it didn’t matter since she had loved spending time with him. He had always enjoyed spending time with her as well, never finding a dull moment when they were together.
♪♩♫ “You didn't want to remember me As a pathetically crying fool Although you are leaving me” ♪♩♫
The loss of his dear Song Yu had taken its tole harder then losing his parents. It wasn’t that he didnt love his parents as much as he loved his sister, it was just that the bond he had with her was stronger and when he had lost that, it was as if a deep hollow hole was left inside him, like he had lost a big part of himself that his sister had helped create with her love and admiration of him. The loss he felt for her had grew to become a weakness for Kwangsoo, a toxic lingering in him that caused his perfection at anything he did to falter day by day. It had created the anxiety, the constant tiredness and the lack of intelligence that began to creep up more and more, and there was nothing he could do to prevent it since he refused to let go of the sadness he held from not having her with him in his life. She had been a rock for him, the reason he was able to study hard, work hard and reach further for his passions, losing her had made him weak and scared to live most days. He wasn’t as perfect as he once was without her and it frustrated him and every friday night he would find himself singing that last song he got to sing with her before she died, belting out each lyric before his emotions caught up with him.
♪♩♫” I'll be missing you I can't do anything This separation is hard on me--” ♪♩♫
“Ah!” Kwangsoo stopped singing mid song and tossed the mic to the side at one of the seats, kicking the air and flinging himself to the couch, slumping into the cushions as the rest of the song played, the look of depression hanging on his face as one of the memories of his sister came to mind.

“Oppa~”Song Yu tried her best to jump up and tap her tall brother on his head as she snuck up behind him, pouting to herself when her height had become no match for his.
“You are never gonna be able to reach my head Song Yu...” Kwangsoo had laughed and pinched her cheek to aggravate her some more. “Was there something you needed?”
Song Yu smiled and hugged at her brother’s arm, a way of sucking up to him whenever she wanted something. “Remember when you promised you would help me practice for my audition~? I really want to get the lead part, but I cant do it if I don’t have practice~”
“Aish, you want to be a singer and an actress...you know thats a lot to work for right?” He pouted at her. Kwangsoo was all for supporting her dreams but he knew that it would be hard for her to peruse both of those professions at once. “I have practiced with you on your audition many times already...if you practice too much you are gonna get stage fright....plus I have helped you so much that I know all the lines myself..I could audition for the role of Belle and convince the director that I am a princess ready to marry the beast”
She laughed at his words then sighed and groaned like the teenager she was and then gave in. “Fiiiinnee...but if I dont get the part I am blaming it on you”
He smiled at her and then lifted his finger and pressed it up against her forehead, pushing her back, a gesture he did that he had learned from his mother who did it to him. “You will get the part, no one can do Belle as good as you..”
The memory soon changed to another favorite of his, a night that him and Song Yu had snuck out to go to the Noraebang where they sang old pop songs together.
“Whoa meoributeo balkkeutkkaji da sarangseurowo Whoa niga naui yeojaraneunge jarangseureowo--”
“Sing it Oppa~! do the dance!”
Kwangsoo laughed and did the dance to the song, dragging her in to dance with him as they sang as passionate as ever.
“--Gidarimi jeulgeobgo, ijen gonggimajeo dalkomhae Ireohke neoreul saranghae~!”
┄ ┅ ┄ ┅ ┄ ┅ ┄ ┅ ┄ ┅ ┄ ┅ ┄ ┅ ┄ ┅
Flashes of them singing and laughing filled the room and suddenly tears began to fill his eyes as he tore himself away from his memories, the next song on the playlist quietly playing in the background as he noticed the time on his watch. He had been there for almost two hours, the owners of the noraebang were probably ready to close up by now, though unknowingly by him they had always let him stay as long as he wanted on Friday nights, knowing he came because he missed his sister.
He turned off the machine and gathered his empty drink bottles and threw everything away in the trash bin, stopping for a moment to let his emotions run out so that he wouldn't have to let anyone outside of this place know he had been crying. Kwangsoo held himself against the doorway, glancing back at the room, the very room they had always went to, flashes of her singing and dancing appearing and then fading away.
“She would have been a great singer...”
And with that he went home...... alone.
