i'm gonna say it: i hate when people are making valid points about k*tseye's styling, choreography, & performances being hypersexual & talking about disliking a marketing strategy that exploits the sexuality of young women, & then another subset of people invalidate that point with the whole thesis of their counter being: "they are adults choosing to do this!" there's a fallacy about agency in that, actually. these girls are under contract; there are likely very real repercussions for making any choice other than an enthusiastic yes. their image is owned. so no, that sexual dance involving teenagers is not impromptu, it's staged for the pleasure of the viewer; the way they dress in performances isn't personal expression, it's a uniform designed for clicks; the way l*ra is on her knees licking m*gan at coachella wasn't l*ra's choice, it was a choice others made for her, cleared with executives, & then communicated as expected choreography. "but you can't know that! were you there when they planned it?" no, but i was certainly there when lollapalooza last year had l*ra and m*non straddling & grinding on each other, so to say that it isn't a convention of the song's specific choreography would feel a little bit silly, right.

#not tagging because it's hate but c'mon guys #i also don't understand why people are more upset at the l*ra/m*gan performance vs the l*ra/m*non performance?#i guess licking is where you draw the line?#idk. i didn't love the l*ra/m*non choreo moment then and i don't love the l*ra/m*gan choreo now #it's just commodifying the sexuality of young women of color #whose gratification is being prioritized is all i want to know.#i also think it wild that i think this is one of the more stable performances from katseye overall and yet we're not talking about #their vocal talent now are we
