Merry Christmas everyone! For this year, I'm covering a song that's not Sailor Moon related, but instead from Sailor Moon's successor at Toei Magical Girl Land, PreCure! "Joyful! Pretty Cure Christmas" from Go! Princess PreCure is one of my favorite PreCure songs. I heard it again the other day and really wanted to cover it, so here we are!
I recorded all four voices (for the four Cures) separately, though I did have at least one other track running for all but Flora to sync up the duet parts. The first chorus is a bit chaotic, but I figured out the timing in the end lol.
There is no official karaoke for this song (which is surprising to me, considering it features prominently in the show, appearing in episode 45 during the Christmas party) but I found a nice one by YouTuber SPhenixs.

I can't believe out of all the Senshi birthday covers this year, I missed out on my favorite Outer, Pluto! But I had a lot of things going on that week, with my birthday on the 28th, preparations for the NaNoWriMo replacement event I'm doing this year, and preparing for a Halloween party I got invited to. Well, better late than never!
Like with Saturn before her, I realized I was running out of songs to cover for Pluto, so I covered her Sailor Stars prologue and poem instead. Sailor Neptune was the only Outer Senshi to get a Sailor Stars single, but Pluto and Saturn got prologues and poems released on Memorial Song Box Disc 5 (while Uranus just got a song that Megumi Ogata didn't even sing). Like with Saturn's, hers is accompanied by a special instrumental piece, called "Garnet Guardian," which was released alongside Saturn's prologue music on Memorial Music Box Disc 8. However, Pluto's prologue and poem use different versions of the instrumental; the prologue uses the regular instrumental while the poem uses the orgel version from Memorial Music Box Disc 9. So I paired them accordingly.

Well, Minako's birthday crept up on me this year. I had plenty of time to do the cover for her birthday, so I have no excuse to be late. But at least I recorded it on her birthday!
This is Minako's Stars single, "Ai no Megami no How to Love." I like this song a lot! It's basically just Minako dropping some love advice (though is she even qualified to give such advice? lol).

So I made a cover medley of all the songs from the DiC English dub of Sailor Moon, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of its U.S. release, which was recently. Unfortunately (but perhaps unsurprisingly), it got blocked for copyright when I tried to upload it (it was the NogiMyu clips that got blocked, guess I should've seen that coming). I considered making a clip-less version and uploading that (like I did for "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang"), but I decided not to, since this project took me like an entire week to do (not even joking...the video editing alone took me HOURS) and I wanted people to see all that hard work. So I have uploaded it to my Google Drive, and you can see it here.
Including my originally planned description for this video's Tumblr post here:
So I've had this idea rattling around in my brain for a long time now. And once I learned this year was the 30th anniversary of the DiC dub of Sailor Moon's release, I figured now was the time to finally do it!
I totally meant to get this up on the actual anniversary day (September 11th) but underestimated the amount of work involved. This was also my first time making a medley, so just figuring out how to mix the songs together took quite some time. (In the process, I also found out there was a song I didn't realize existed, "Who Do You Think You Are?" from the last episode of the DiC dub, "Follow the Leader." So I had to learn that one quickly).
(Also I thought the episode where Rei sings "Call My Name" and "Oh Starry Night" was AFTER the episode with "Only a Memory Away," but I discovered too late that I was mistaken. There was no way to fix it at that point, so sorry!)
I decided to have fun with this, with references to the DiC dub's classic "Today on Sailor Moon" and "Sailor Moon Says" segments, as well as the Toonami "Sailor Moon: The Lost Episodes" promo. I also kinda parodied the beginning of "Waltz ni Koi wo Nosete" by switching it to the DiC dub names, and re-enacted a scene from "Sailor Mercury Moving On?" as well.

Well, I just barely got it uploaded on the right day, but here's my Ami birthday cover for this year! This is of her song "Someday...Somebody...", her image song from the 90s anime CD In Another Dream. The cover image is from the episode where she saves Greg from Evil Darien in the first season.
Hehe...speaking of "Darien," this year marks the 30th anniversary of the U.S. debut of the DiC dub. Working on something for that too...stay tuned!

Well, it's been a while since I did a cover, and honestly, July was a busy month for me with planning this trip I was going on, then coming back from the trip and having to immediately go back to work the next day. I knew Mamoru's birthday was coming up, but I almost forgot about it till the last minute honestly. I had planned to do another song for this, but in the interests of getting the cover up in time (one of my goals for 2025 was to be better with this), I decided to choose a song that wouldn't take long to learn. I happened to hear Yamato Yuuga's solo version of "When Destiny Calls" from Le Mouvement Final (usually it's a partial duet with Moon) and thought "that would be fun" so I went with it.
Yuuga's a tough voice to match - the only other time I've done it was with "Todokanu Omoi." Hopefully I did it justice!
I knew I was unlikely to find a clip of this on YouTube, since the YouTube copyright hammer is not kind to Nelke or NogiMyu clips. So I downloaded the full musical from Sea of Serenity and clipped the footage myself. In an attempt to further avoid the copyright hammer, I took inspiration from @kosmosinusa and added effects and a filter to the video. NGL it did end up looking kinda cool…the rose petal effect was almost too good to pass up for this too.
(In preparing for this, I also found out Yuuga released a version of this song on one of her CDs, which you should totally check out honestly)

Today is also Chibiusa's birthday! I had another song planned for her, but I really wanted to get these covers up on time, so instead of doing that one I did one I had recorded last month as part of my attempt to make up all the birthdays I missed in the past (a project which is still in progress).
This is "Chibiusa no Kokoroiki," Chibiusa's song from the Shin Densetsu Kourin musical, the debut musical of Gunji Ayano, the oldest and longest-running Chibiusa actress in the Bandai Myus era. It's basically just her venting (lol) so I sung it with that in mind.
I did this one in English cause I really liked @seaofserenitysubs's translation 😆

I suddenly remembered last night that today was Usagi and Chibiusa's birthday. I had already been planning to do covers for them for a while, but forgot to record them. Oops.
At least I'd had songs planned to do. This is a cover of "Aikotoba wa Moon Prism Power Make Up," a cute little song from the 90s anime CD Ai wa Doko ni Aru No?, which was released around the time of the first season. I hadn't seen the translated lyrics before recording this, so I didn't know that Luna's "spells" she offers are literally just "It's ok. Just ✨breathe✨" 😆
There's also supposed to be a spoken part after the first chorus (during the long instrumental break) but I couldn't find a transcription of it, so I left it out.

Okay, so it's a day late because I just got Hello Kitty Island Adventure (finally) and was too busy playing it. That's the truth. (Well, and also there was work and stuff…anyway). But here's my birthday cover for Mars for 2025!
So this cover is of "Hoshi Furu Yoake," from Mars's PGSM Character Song single. Funnily enough, the OTHER song from that single, the much more famous "Sakura Fubuki," was my first ever Mars birthday cover, and my first PGSM cover ever on this channel. And that was SEVEN years ago. How time flies!

It's time for Sailor Neptune's birthday again! I'm starting to run out of songs for her TBH, but realized I hadn't done "Unmei wa Utsukushiku," her song from the Uranus-Neptune-Chibimoon PLUS CD, yet. So here it is!

So…my latest Sailor Uranus birthday cover is a bit late. Honestly, I was happy I could do it at all, since the brief TikTok ban also took out CapCut, which I use to make videos with!
Anyway, I wasn't sure what to do since I'd basically covered all the Uranus songs I could find. Then when browsing the same fansite I got lyrics from for "Kaze ni Naru," I found this song - "Can't Go Back My Mission," originally released on Ogata Megumi's CD "MO" and then released a couple more times. While as far as I know, it's not officially tied to Uranus, the song gives me big Uranus vibes, AND it's by her '90s anime voice actress, so I figured, it fits! (I think I'll be having to make this excuse for Outers songs for a while if I keep up doing this channel).
The version here is the "Metal Version" released on the 2018 CD "Early Ogata Best," since that was the only one I could find audio for online. Also, yes, it is actually supposed to be half English, half Japanese. Ogata-san recorded it that way. No idea why.
Also I didn't completely remove the vocals, since doing that made the music sound awful. I just did what I did with "Tuxedo Versus" and lowered the backing track volume.

Happy 2025 everyone! Getting back on track with uploads is one of my goals for the year, and this is the first cover of the year! Hotaru's birthday is the first Senshi birthday of the year, on January 6th, so for the song I went with "Miss Dream" from Yume Senshi Ai Eien Ni. I know, she's not technically Saturn, but in Yume K she's confirmed to be Hotaru but brainwashed, so it counts!

So my initial "Santa ga Machi ni Yattekuru" video got blocked not long after uploading because of this weird new policy YouTube has of automatically turning any video with a seemingly vertical aspect ratio that is under 3 minutes into a short when you upload it. And if you have a video between 60 seconds and 3 minutes long, with copyrighted music, it gets blocked because YouTube sees it as a short.
Oddly enough it seems you can still view the original video in the initial post I made for it here on Tumblr, but just in case you can't, here's the reuploaded version, with a different aspect ratio to get around the weird Shorts thing.
Merry Christmas! For my Christmas cover for this year, I did Minako's version of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" from the CD SuperS: Christmas for You.
I did the dialogue part in English cause I couldn't get the timing right in Japanese.

I'm finally uploading my Makoto birthday cover for the year! I know it's really late…I actually could've posted it on time, as I was on vacation from work, but I was busy doing stuff.
Anyway, now that I'm done with Christmas shopping and stuff, I finally felt up to doing it. Better late than never.
The song is "Anata no Sei ja Nai," Makoto's image song from "In Another Dream." It also played in episode 49 during a flashback. This is the song "Rainy Day Man" replaced in the DiC dub.
Also, I didn't realize this until now, but this is of course a Emi Shinohara song, and we lost her this year. So picking a song of hers for Makoto's birthday this year feels fitting. (I didn't think of that when I chose it though).
The karaoke is from Memorial Song Box Disc 6.
Also, the picture I used for the video cover is actually from Sailor Moon Crystal, but I thought it fit here.

This isn't a Sailor Moon-related song, but this is my favorite song from Elena of Avalor, and I've been wanting to do a cover of it for a while. Since it's about DÃa de los Muertos, it made sense to me to post it around that time, but I never got to it till now.
Also I am not fluent in Spanish (or Hispanic), so I apologize if any pronunciation is off.
I also didn't use a clip for this, because I was pretty positive Disney would block it. (I did get a copyright claim for the music, but that's to be expected).

So according to the e-mail I got from YouTube, it was the audio that got my "Codename Replay Operation" video blocked (King Records released a lot of the CDs for Crystal, so it makes sense they'd be involved with NogiMyu too), not the video as I thought. Which is weird as it was a song cover. I guess the backing track is what it detected??
