“You wanna play? I got ditched.”
“... If you give me a minute to take these heels off sure.”
Life had taught her that people don’t care much for other people’s sadness, so she learned to weave her sorrow into her smile and to shroud the pain in her eyes with a gleam of mischief.
Peter wasn’t tired. He wasn’t, really. If he had accidentally webbed his alarm clock to the wall that morning instead of hitting the snooze button, then that was purely coincidental. Absolutely nothing to do with sleep deprivation. Nope. That felt like something the bite should have cured, right? There was something about endurance, but at the given moment, he really couldn’t be bothered to remember details like that.
It seemed a natural next step for him to wind up at the coffee shop, eyes staring somewhat blankly at the sign just above the glass door. This was purely for enjoyment purposes, not for his bogged down brain. Which was a stonefaced lie—there were roughly eight hundred things he would rather do than fork over a frankly absurd amount of money for something so bitter. Ah, the joys of commercialism, taking apart his paycheck without a care in the world. See if he tried to stop it.
Brushing a tuft of hair away from his forhead, for better or for worse, he ducked into the cafe. Immediately, he was hit with a wall of smells, and okay, maybe this wasn’t the worst idea. But then someone hit him—if you could call it that—and Peter’s head jerked to the side. He mentally kicked himself for losing a sense for his surroundings, but halted mid-thought. Oh. Relief set in the moment he spotted her face, but then she was talking, and the feeing slipped away in an instant.
That wasn’t right. The redhead sounded so small, almost far away, and Peter tensed. “Hey—hey, MJ. Its only me.” He carefully reached out to touch her shoulder, looking apologetic when he noticed her shirt. “Sorry. Wait, that doesn’t burn, does it?”
MJ’s mind wasn’t all there but when she felt the hand on her shoulder she stopped, looked up, and relaxed immensely at the familiar brown eyes staring back at her. She offered a weak smile and swallowed slightly putting her hand on his own. “Hey tiger, it’s been awhile.” Whether that was his own fault, or hers was never clear anymore but she was more than glad to see him now. She needed a friend.
She looked down at her shirt and immediately crossed her arms over her chest and her face turned a shade of red that was actually quite close to her hair. “Oh no, god, not at all.. This tea went cold a long time ago. I’m fine.” She offered him a weak smile before grabbing some napkins off the table she was just occupying and dabbing at her shirt absent minded, trying to get get brain to focus on Peter, even if it was just for a moment. “So what brings you down this way, Petey?” She hoped if she could keep the conversation casual and light he wouldn’t notice how broken up she felt over something so completely trivial.
If you’re having a hard time because you like something that maybe a lot of other people don’t, know that when you grow up, no one cares. It’s so great. I call it like a fish bowl to an ocean. There are too many people to keep track of for everyone to judge. I feel like it just gets a lot more laid back and no one cares. It’s really nice.
BOLD all that applies to your muse!

Mary Jane Watson was a lot of things, some would say she was a total package and though she had yet to believe that, she rarely ever got dumped, let alone by someone she really cared about. She’d really had no idea what to do, she’d spend her nights with Harry so she wasn’t alone, though they didn’t do much other than sleep but her days were spent think about what she did wrong.
She kept thinking back and hoping that it really wasn’t something she did, but what else could it have been. Harry sent her home from work because she’d ended up crying at her desk, half was for her own well being, and half was because they didn’t want it to seem like he was an abusive boss, or something.
Now she sat at coffee shop near the Oscorp tower and she let her thoughts consume her from the inside out. Her eyes were rimmed red as she stared blankly into the cup of tea in her hands that was now closer to cold then it was to warm. When she heard someone shout because something happened with their order it caused her to snap back into herself ever so slightly, only to realize she’d been sitting on her own for at least an hour.
She got up to go throw her tea into the trash can when she crashed into someone else, all her fault of course. To in her own head to pay attention to someone walking right by her. “Oh god, I am so sorry!” Most of her cold tea spilled down her shirt, but some of it ended up on them too. “God, let me uh, what are you having I’ll pay for it, or something shit, I’m so sorry.”
Wanda raised an eyebrow when the girl started straightening her coat for her. “No worries. Though I have to ask, where does the habit come from?” The action was oddly endearing. She found herself nodding to answer the question before it was even asked. “Coffee would be great, I was on my way to get some as well. You needn’t pay, though. We can split it– this was equally our faults.”
“I’m Wanda, by the way.” She grinned, putting a hand out. “I have a feeling I am going to be very glad we ran into each other.”
Mary Jane couldn’t help but grin, then let a small laugh fall from her lips. “Despite being quite rich, and a CEO my best— my boss, can’t seem to do it before I do.” Mary Jane put a hand out in front of her as if to say come with me, before she started to walk in the right direction. “Alright we can split it this time, but next time please let me.” MJ didn’t know why but she felt drawn to this girl, and she knew that this wouldn’t be a once off of seeing her again.
“I’m Mary Jane Watson, but you can call me MJ if you’d like.” Taking the hand she offered she shook firmly before smiling. “You know what, I completely agree.” She chuckled as they made their way to the cafe, and then looked over to the other girl. “So what do you do, Wanda?”
“Right, Ben Grimm. I’ll take that as a yes.” After sorting through the stack of papers, he grabbed a pen and began scrawling his name on each paper. “Oh, don’t think that it isn’t hurt. I just got used to the burn after a few months.” He finally glanced up at the redhead, an amused smile forming across his lips. “I don’t think so. You’re a good listener, Mary Jane, but you’re an even better friend. Since I’m tired of having to pick you up every time you get drunk out of your mind, I thought I’d just find a way to keep you closer.” He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back in his chair. “Do you want a job?”
“It is a most definite yes.” She offered him a smile before she grimaced at his words. How does someone get used to a burning feeling, well it’s how someone gets used to anything she supposed. If anyone could adapt to the feeling of burning it was Harry. She was going to respond when he looked up at her such an amused grin, she had to wonder what was going through that strange brain of his. Her brows furrowed as he spoke, though she was going to protest to one of those things her words caught in her throat as he did something.. Unexpected. She blinked a few times and her legs crossed in a proper position. “I’d love a job, is this a serious offer?”

Wanda woke up with two things on her mind: coffee and coffee. There was none left in Steve’s kitchen ( their kitchen? ) and after doing the necessary morning rituals, she slipped out the door to sniff out something huge and highly caffeinated. She walked down the street, not paying much attention to her surroundings as she unwound the scarf from around her necK, trying to get it to lay just so. That was, until she collided with a head of red hair. She reached out and settled her hands on the girl’s shoulders in an effort to steady her, an apology already slipping from her lips.
“I am so sorry.” Her accent warmed the frigid air, vowels bending like a song. “I should be paying attention instead of messing with this ridiculous scarf. Are you alright?”
As much as Mary Jane loved living with Natasha — ( she really did, it was like having a proper sister ) — they always ended up out of something. Last week it was pickles, and milk, this week it was unfortunately coffee. Harry had meetings all morning which meant some free time for her, so as soon as she could she made her way toward her favorite coffee shop in the city. With the wind whipping about the way it was, MJ’s hair was becoming uncontrollable, so she started fiddling with putting up when she collided with a girl around her size. She was a bit stunned at first her hands instinctively went to the other woman’s hips as she steadied herself and the other girl.
As an accented apology fell from the girl’s lips MJ gave her a sweet smile, the one that tended to turn a few unintentional heads, before waving her off. “I’m completely fine, and there’s no need to apologize really.” She straightened out her coat before doing the same to the brunette standing before her, but then she stopped herself, face heating in embarrassment. “Sorry, force of habit... Listen, I’m about to get coffee up the way here. Let me get you something as an apology of my own for running into you?”
And in the end I'd do it all again I think you're my best friend Don't you know that the kids aren't alright
