āFor what, believing you?ā She shrugs absently.Ā āI can usually tell when people are lying.ā
āYeah,ā he smiles.Ā āI guess that makes two of us, then?ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā āI donāt understand.ā Evangeline said as she frowned to the newspaper she was currently reading.Ā āWhy do people keep blaming the wrong people for such acts? Some of the people mentioned here had clearly helped the city before, they arenāt the villains.ā
He considered, momentarily, asking what is what that he didnāt understand (the rustle of a newspaper could only give away so much, after all.) Thankfully, though, his breathing changed, a sure fire indicator that there was something else to be said and so Matt simply perked up slightly, head tilting in the otherās direction.Ā āItās easier to lay blame on those that canāt stand up for themselves publicly than it is to admit we need them, or that weāre afraid. Weāre in New York, after all.ā

⤠- What does your muse look forwards on their soulmate?
Someone with a kind soul and a nice voice, initially. Matt doesnāt really look for anything specifically; after all heās a firm believer in the fact that your soulmate is fate, essentially. You canāt go looking for what you might like; whoever comes along will do just that, and be perfect.Ā
į¦- Sexuality?
Matt is demisexual, and finds himself attracted to both males and females. Usually though, he tends to lean towards women.Ā

⣠- What calms your muse down?
Music, silence. The sound of a familiar heartbeat, or a soft touch. It depends mostly on the reason why heās not calm; if heās angry a gentle touch will bring him down quicker than anything, if heās sad touches will be reassuring and wholly welcome but sounds are more likely to be efficient.Ā
ā - Can your muse write? How well/How bad?
Mattās not a creative writer; not much of a writer at all, really. Academic writing comes fairly naturally, though he had to teach himself a couple of structures otherwise he tended to get carried away and lose marks. When it comes to writing things like opening speeches in court, if anything heāll have notes on flashcards; things to bounce off of.Ā
ā½ - Something your muse has problem in understanding?
He doesnāt necessarily have a problem understanding why authorities allow themselves to be made corrupt; moneyās a very good driving force, but he doesnāt understand why. Perhaps itās because heās never really had money; his father didnāt exactly make much of a living but it was enough, and thatās all Matthew has ever needed. Luxuries are nice, he gets that, really; just doesnāt understood why people in power are willing to forgo the entire point of their jobs (to protect people) for a bit of extra cash. More than anything, it enrages him.
ā āŗ ā
ā - Does your muse believe in afterlife?
He does indeed. Heaven and Hell play very heavy in his mind. As a Catholic, Matt knows he should fear the fires of Hell but he doesnāt. He doesnāt know where heāll end up - hopes heāll go to Heaven, but only time will tell.
āŗ - Something that makes your muse happy?
Being in the company of others; people that he loves. Karen, Foggy, Elektra. They make him unbelievably happy, itās especially noticeable because as Daredevil Matthew feels as if he has to be in touch with the rage and the darkness inside of him.Ā
ā - Your museās future dream and why?
Mattās future dream is to have Nelson and Murdock become successful. Not monetary wise, but client wise. Heād like to make some sort of dent in the legal world, to let people in New York know that there are still good people on their side. Why? Because itās been his life goal ever since his dad was killed.
ā
ā - What kind of weather does your muse consider the best one?
Rain. Rainy days are Matthewās favourite. The sound is reassuring, and sometimes can even be used to block out other slightly less desirable noises, and he uses this to a full advantage. If itās raining at night, Matt knows heāll be able to fall asleep in a matter of seconds. Rain also means itās cold, which is a downside but any excuse to wrap himself up in a collection of soft blankets is a good one.

āYeah, it is. But it takes courage to stand up for what you believe in, and those heroes are exactly that. They shouldnāt be roasted for being courageous.ā Miles said with a sigh and another shake of his head.Ā āIām sure other words come to mind.āĀ
āI know, and Iām with you on that - completely. But, as a majority that group of people against heroes are a helluva lot stronger than the party against. I donāt know how this is going to end, and Iām not even sure Iād want to at this point but what I do know. Or, at least what I think I know is that those heroes arenāt going to give up easily. Thatās what matters.āĀ
āI do laugh more with you, I will admit. Part of your charm, I think,ā Elektra glanced at him, struck again with the urge to kiss him and narrowly resisting it. Couldnāt even manage to go a few minutes without wanting to, this was utterly ridiculous and if she werenāt entirely smitten maybe it would actually be something sheād fight more. But she was, it was Matt and this all was so much like college without exams looming over them. It was better than travelling, better than blood spilling into her hands (no that little part of her that argued against the point was wrong she wasnāt someone to relish in the kill. she was a monster herself, she would die someday, and she would take out monsters with her so long as she was going to hell already), he was everything. Her light. The one that reminded her that she had one too, no matter how much the Hand tried to smother it for her.Ā āLess competition. Iām not sure, but I think if anyone could figure it out, it would be you. And I am an expert on being snobbish, I grew up around plenty with Poppaās parties, so if you need tips I can provide them.āĀ
He kept her hand and Elektra couldnāt stop smiling, her cheeks almost hurting from the unfamiliarity of genuinely smiling, much less keeping it up for so long. Grateful that he kept stroking her hand, like she was something precious. Like she was worth being around. Like he still loved her, much as the thought was probably impossible. Should be, with someone like her. But that was a thing she could happily ignore, in favor of enjoying this so long as it lasted. Not long, it seemed, missing the contact as soon as he let go to open the door. Necessary, maybe, but she missed it.
She couldnāt help but look around his place, a quiet inhale as she smiled. It suited him, oddly enough. Comfortable, while not dripping in the excess that she remembered from growing up. The glow of the billboard already readily apparent, as he warned, and Elektra laughed a bit,Ā āI concede your earlier point, by the way. That would have been hard to sleep though on the couch.ā At the question, she glanced back,Ā āJust a little honey- I wonāt have to drown it in honey unless itās terrible. And knowing you, you have good taste. Except in beer.ā If everything from college held true, anyway.Ā āLemon, if you have it, please.āĀ
Elektra looked around a little longer, narrowly resisting the impulse to go look around the rest of his place and instead going to him in the kitchen. She missed touching him, so why not indulge that so long as she was able? She crept in behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist, chin propping up on his shoulder to look over at what he was doing.Ā āWhat kind of tea is it, anyway?āĀ
āHang on, let me get my phone out,ā he grinned wryly, momentarilyĀ āfishing around in his pocketā - or rather, pretending to do so, in order to take out his phone.Ā āCan you say that again for the record? Just the last part, about my charm?ā The grin remained firmly plastered across his features, eyes crinkled at the side. What she had said was true for him, too - Foggy and Karen made him happy, very happy but Elektra was something else. It was a different kind of feeling; he felt more alive in her presence, like his energy was boundless. It felt as if he had some sort of God complex growing; a feeling of immortality springing from simply being in anotherās presence. Another that he loved, no matter how much heād tried to tell himself that it was never going to work out (sheād left, first of all. It was a pretty persuasive argument.)Ā āTips on how to be snobbish could come into good use in that area.ā
Laughing, his head tipped back once more.Ā āI told you so. Iāve been thinking about investing in curtains but itās not exactly... usual for anyone but me to end up sleeping on the couch. I donāt really think it would be a useful investment.ā Matthew shrugged, fingers drumming lightly upon the surface of the countertop as he awaited her response.Ā āThereās absolutely nothing wrong with my beer.ā Stickās words rang out momentarily in his ear - the man had a penchant for criticising every single one of his movements, but it really shouldnāt have been as annoying as it was. Perhaps he really was becoming to sensitive. Collecting the honey from one cupboard, and two mugs from another, he set it all down by the boiling kettle once more.
Matthew sighed softly, leaning back as Elektraās arms came (seemingly out of nowhere) to wrap around his middle. The gesture had him smiling once again, mind flickering instantly to their college days - this was the kind of luxury theyād grown used to - being able to touch each other whenever, for whatever reason. A soft hum fell from his lips, head turning so he could press a chaste kiss to her temple.Ā āAh... Just Earl Grey, I think. Unless Iāve been lied to. Nothing fancy, though thereās some selection of herbal teas in the cupboard if youād prefer one of those.āĀ
āI hope to God I never have to find out.ā He nodded, even as he grabbed hold of his won drink, tilting it in the direction of the other man. āSeems people have been havinā one of those days for the past two years ā wonder if itāll ever slow down.āĀ
āI hope so too. Though itās growing increasingly more likely, Iām afraid.ā Cheery, Matt. Really well done. He sighed, laughing dryly and draining a good fraction of the bottle in hand.Ā āWell, Iāll be sure to let you know if it ever comes to some kind of abrupt stop. That is, if you donāt hear widespread celebrations first.ā
āGood morning, Matt.ā She offers with a brilliant smile upon her lips, instantly the presence of Matt puts a bounce in her step. As he speaks Karen shifts her files over to her other hand and then takes his arm and laces it with hers, he isnāt using his cane and while sheās sure he doesnāt need it, Karen always likes to offer herself as a guide.Ā āI like the rain. What I would give for a spring shower.ā She muses as they walk,Ā āI think my favorite part is the smell, after it rains, the way the dirt smells, itās my favorite scent in the whole world.ā
Her usual bright and bubbly presence has Mattās face lighting up once more - itās an effect heās come to know is entirely down to her. As she takes his arm, the lawyer smiles once more, glad that his cane is already folded and out of the way.Ā āThereās a name for that smell, right? Ah... petrichor?ā He nods his agreement, steps perfectly in time with hers.Ā āIāve never minded the rain; sure, no one likes being soaked and freezing so Iāll admit Iāll do whatever the Hell I can to get out of walking home in it, but itās a nice sound to fall asleep too.ā
āI know Iām not the only one who is done with this heat.ā Karen mused, despite her words, more or so to herself as she walked the streets of New York. Sheād picked up every paper and ran several errands before making her way to Nelson & Murdock. The secretary was ready for a long, hot, interesting day so to speak.
āDefinitely not the only one.ā Comes Mattās reply a beat later. A bright smile tugs at his lips, fingers fixing the suit jacket heād just removed over his arm, cane tucked under his arm for the time being.Ā āI canāt even decide if I like the cold days or the hot days better. Right now, though, Iād kill for some rain - or snow.ā
āProbably not. I believe you, though.ā
āThanks. Any particular reason for that, though?ā
scarlet witch // red devil
Mouth set in a grim line, Wanda nodded.
āI need not to be a telepath to know what unsavory thoughts run though their mind. Letās go ā I want to feel their life in my hands.ā Her words were matter-of-fact as she fought against the rage in her spine. The flames licked at her, telling her to give in. I will. Give me time.Ā
She walked forward, eyes blazing straight ahead with Matt flanking her right side. The scene they happened upon was every bit as vomit-inducing as she imagined. Four men backing the girl into a corner, lecherous smiles on all of their faces, as terror rolled off of her in waves. Their minds were a little shop of horrors, clouded by alcohol and full of memories that told a story. This had happened before.Ā
She wanted to ensure the girls safety first ( before everything else ) and nodded to Matt before slithering in her direction. Matt entered beside her, distracting them long enough for her to grab the girlās arm. She spoke, low and fast.Ā āGo home immediately. RUN. Do not stop until you are safe behind closed doors.ā She gave the girl a once-over, a frown playing at her lips. Her coat was missing. She noticed on the ground and grabbed it, putting it over her shoulders before grabbing the phone out of the pocket.Ā āI am programming a number into your phone, yeah? If anything happens on your way home ā call it. The message will get back to me. Now go.ā
Rolling her shoulders, the Witch turned to Devil. It was time to collect their offering.
If there had been time; her words may have struck some sort of chord with him - not out of mutual feeling, though. Matthew wasnāt concerned with whatever feeling someoneās life in your hand involved, his core motivation was bringing them to justice and sure that consisted of beating the crap out of them (which undoubtedly had an effect on their lives, as well as their likely prison sentence or other punishment) it wasnāt about a life force in itself.
Distracting them wasnāt difficult; their entrance alone had caused the men to stop in their tracks (Matt was almost certain he could hear their jaws hit the floor). They werenāt outnumbered, and seemed to think they could take advantage of that - apparently, though, that meant they were entirely unaware of the vigilantes at hand reputations. The poor girlās heart was hammering in his ears, shaky breaths rattling around his head like a dropped marble - alone that was enough of a driving force for him to have three of four men already on the ground moaning.Ā
Matt flexed his hands, billy club tossed from one to the other. Heād made sure the beating hadnāt been enough to take them done; it certainly could have been but this was a team up, of sorts. It was only fair. Somehow, the Devil managed to keep the smile from his face, ducking to avoid a hefty kick to the throat. Never a good move, really.Ā
His boot collided with the wretched soulās chest, the sickening crack echoing in the night air no longer sickening at all, but satisfying.
Charles chuckled. Teenagers were difficult to deal with sometimes, mostly because of their behaviours and hormones, but way before he started the school he got used to sarcasm, mostly due to Raven and Erik.Ā āThey think I canāt be sarcastic too, you know. And sometimes when I am they are very confused.ā Charles chuckled once more. Then Charles felt a sudden rage and noticed it wasnāt coming from himself and he tried to build walls against his mind so he would stop feeling it - he didnāt want to intrude, but somehow he was glad to know Matt was on his side. He had felt the man was good, he knew it deep down even though he hadnāt gone into the manās mind, but he knew it to be true.Ā āThank you.ā Charles said sincerely with a fond smile on his face. Charles beamed at Mattās reply to his comment about science having a similar effect on him as religion had on Matt.Ā āWell, itās most certainly better when there are no fights. People often only see one side, the religion or the science and donāt like to believe the other to be real.ā He had had discussions with people who actually said evolution was a lie, as if mutation couldnāt actually occur, that it was impossible that we had started off from a monkey - as if it hadnāt been billion of years before a single gene changed, and it was happening again, but the process was slow, had always been slow, but those who believed God created Adam and Eve rarely accepted evolution.Ā āNot really. Itās been a long time since I last visited a pub. Do you know any?ā Charles said with a sheepish smile.
Matthew laughed.Ā āWell, I suppose itās a bit like the feeling that thereās absolutely no way your teachers have a life outside of school, or outside of them. When a teacher gets pregnant itās not even worth thinking about how at that age, I suppose thereās probably some psychological reason for that, but, Iām in no way an expert in that field.ā Unless it was to cross-section a witness, but that was basic stuff - based mostly around use of language in order to catch someone out.Ā āNot a problem.ā He replied warmly, forcing the bubbling rage to its usual gentle simmer to be released later that night.Ā āDelusion and religion can come hand in hand. Though I wonāt pick and choose; sure religion is a comfort and a choice, but Iām not going to dissect it and twist it to make it work for me. There are things that I canāt refute; evolution happened thatās science. I just happen to believe that God designed it that way. Iām not so sure thatās such a bad thing.ā Pausing in thought, the lawyer shifted his weight.Ā āWeāll go to Josieās; Iāve been going there for a long time, maybe not the nicest place but itās friendly enough.ā He stepped aside, tilting his head in the direction down the street.Ā āCome on.ā
āI imagine heād be proud all the same ā takes a lot to use both.ā He fell silent when Matt did, understanding that sometimes, it was better to let your fists hit the bag and do all the talking needed.Ā āWhat is it you do with your head then?ā
A tight smile crept across his lips, head tilted downwards.Ā āI hope so.ā There were times when that idea became about as blurred as morality; there was no way he would have approved of Daredevil.Ā āIām a lawyer.ā
