The fact that the CW’s hit TV show Supernatural has been condensed to “It’s about two brothers who hunt monsters” is insane to me. There has never been a show like supernatural and there never will be. Unparalleled media viewing experience. When someone asks what it is about I spiral until I finally reach the sentence “It’s about two brothers who hunt monsters” because without having watched the show you could never grasp the true concept of what supernatural is. It’s about gay love that pieces through the veil of death and saves the day. It’s about a lost shoe. It’s about pudding and pie and beers and guilt and fear and love. So much love. It’s about brothers but it’s about friendship and it’s about being able to forgive yourself and it’s about the gray area between good and evil and defining what good and evil really are. It’s about breaking a cycle and free will and blind obedience versus breaking the mold and daring to be different and how far someone will go for what they love and what happens when someone kind loses everything and what happens when someone broken gets the chance to heal and everything in between. And somehow all of that simmers down to “It’s about two brothers who hunt monsters”. Mind-blowing.
