Hello! We are migrating back over to @mlbigbang in preparation for this year's Big Bang. THE LAST CHAPTER!
A loud groan pulled them apart. Across the room, on the chaise, Plagg was shaking his head. ‘I should’ve known this would happen if we came over today. We’re just going to study together, you said. Ha! As if I don’t know what that means.’
Beside him, Tikki rolled her eyes. ‘Plagg, stop. It’s romantic!’
‘Romantic! I’ll show you romantic. You see this?’ Plagg held up a huge hunk of cheese. ‘This is romance! I’ll tell you one thing Atlantis didn’t have – French cheese!’ He popped the chunk in his mouth, mercifully shutting up.
For now.
Smirking, Adrien turned back to Marinette, and they both laughed, their hands overlapping on the desktop.
She shot him a sheepish look. ‘He has a point. We do tend to get a little…distracted when we’re together.’

Chapter 19 Preview:
That night, Marinette dreamt that she was still in Adrien’s body – that she was sleeping in the palace, in his bed, when the door to the lift flew open, jolting her awake.
Her eyes found the doorway, and her heart seemed to stop. Stepping into the room was Adrien’s father, his image illuminated by the moonlight beaming through the tall glass panes that encased them.
He was in full costume – not the usual outfit Psyche wore, captured in photographs she’d studied on Adrien’s holo-ring, but something that belonged to the realm of dreams. A flowing suit of silk, painted with eyes, menacing things that stared at her from every angle.
And when he spread his arms wide, opening his ‘wings’, she knew – when he leered at her, he wasn’t seeing Adrien. He was seeing her.
He swept across the room, landing almost on top of her. Before she could move, he grabbed her by the wrists and shouted in her face. ‘Where is my SON?’

Chapter 18 Preview:
In the lift, Adrien leaned against one of the walls for support. He was shaking from head to toe, still hearing Marinette’s words in his head.
I saw your father…talking to Nooroo.
Your father….
The butterfly….
He slammed a fist against the wall, making Plagg jump out from the bottom hem of his pyjama trousers. With everything that had happened this morning, he hadn’t even thought about getting dressed.
Plagg flew up to face him. ‘Are you sure going to see your father is a good idea?’
‘No. But I need to do it anyway.’

Clad in her pyjamas, Marinette sleepily staggered her way into her open plan living area. ‘Morning,’ she said through a yawn to Alya. Standing at the kitchen island, Alya blew on her coffee, her eyebrows raised. ‘How come you’re still here? You’re usually long gone by this time. Are you sick?’ ‘No. I've got the day off. ' Alya’s brows knitted together. ‘Sorry. You’ve got a day off?’

Adrien walked silently to Le Grenier à Pain alongside Marinette, equal parts delighted and apprehensive. What was he thinking, inviting her to check out a boulangerie with him? He should be locked up in his house watching repeats of Parks and Recreation, not strolling along in one of the busiest tourist areas in Paris with Marinette. Ben and Lila were going to skin him alive. Paparazzi could be anywhere. But …

Eyes closed, Adrien sat on the huge chair in Make-up, the sound of his breathing heavy in the quiet. He’d risen wearily at the crack of dawn to get here on time, only for Jeanette to realise she’d left the foundation palette she needed on set the day before. She’d rushed off and hadn’t come back. He didn’t mind. These days, he cherished any moments he had by himself. As if on cue, his phone rang.

Chapter 16 Preview:
Marinette drew in her knees – his knees – hugging them tight. ‘I keep thinking maybe I imagined what I saw.’
Plagg gave her a pitying look. ‘I can’t tell you how much I’d love to tell you that was true.’
But it wasn’t. She had absolutely seen the emperor speaking with Nooroo – the kwami of the missing butterfly miraculous.
Adrien’s father was Psyche.
‘You can’t tell Adrien,’ she said.
Plagg’s brow slowly rose. ‘You don’t think he has a right to know?’
‘It’s not that, it’s –’ She hesitated. But she’d never get Plagg’s cooperation if she didn’t explain herself. ‘As long as he doesn’t know….’
‘…you think you can prevent what happens.’

Adrien glanced sideways at Nino. ‘It’s such a shame Marinette feels she’s too busy for love.’ Nino continued button bashing, either accidentally or purposefully ignoring him. He tried again. ‘Maybe I could set her up with someone. Does she have a type?’

Chapter 17 Preview:
Adrien's smile fell, and he stared at his hands.
Plagg edged back into his eyeline. ‘Would you like some cheese?’
Cheese? ‘Plagg, what are you –’
‘I always eat cheese when I feel sad.’
‘I don’t feel….’ Adrien let the rest of that sentence die on his tongue. It was too early for lies. ‘I’m not in the mood for cheese right now. But thank you. That’s surprisingly considerate of you. Seriously, what happened while I was gone?’

Standing off to the side of the set, Adrien glazed over as Darius gave him notes about his performance. ‘And it just feels like you've lost the passion of the scene, you know?’ Adrien nodded wearily, the heat of the studio lights making his skin tight. He already knew he was missing the mark. He just didn't know how to improve.

Chapter 15 Preview (halfway there!):
The next time Marinette woke up in Adrien’s body was three days later…according to her timeline, anyway. She’d lain in the darkness of her room and fallen asleep thinking of him, and of what was coming – of what had already happened – then woken in his bed with one word spinning in her mind.
Impossible.
That was what everyone thought of her idea to save Adrien somehow.
But she didn’t believe in impossible. She was Ladybug. Her whole job was to save people – to undo the damage caused by akumas.
Or maybe even prevent someone from becoming akumatised in the first place.

In the warm glow of the boulangerie she’d gone to buy lunch from, Marinette watched as the server wrapped up the second filled baguette in her order, setting it beside the first. The server looked up. ‘What name do you want on the pork one? ‘Adrien.’ A rush of excitement swept through her, making her skin tingle. She was his go-to person. Someone he trusted. He’d even trusted her to order for him.

Carrying a box of candles, Adrien traipsed back to Lila’s dressing room, deep in thought. Maybe he should’ve been making conversation with Lila, who was striding slightly ahead of him, but he couldn’t stop reliving what had just happened. If he didn’t know better, he would’ve thought that Lila just threatened Marinette, and all over finding a rip in her costume. But Lila would never do that … would she?
