bio & personality: Clémence was brought up in France by her French mother, Joséphine, and her American father, James. Both her parents are magical, and they met through the French Ministry; James worked in the Embassy for the United States. She attended muggle French school, but in the summer took magical classes at Beauxbatons. Once she had completed her secondary education, the family moved to the United States, as had been planned by her parents since she began her education. Her father insisted that Clémence attend the Salem Institute, and thus they moved across the Atlantic, to Washington DC so her father could work in the Ministry, alongside her mother. She is obviously fluent in both French and English, however she has a proficient grasp of German, Spanish and Dutch. Whilst her major at Salem is History of Magic, there is no doubt that she is adept at spellcasting; her parents ensured this. She is an only child, and while she had magical friends that she met through her summer classes at Beauxbatons, her close friends were primarily muggles, due to her schooling. This meant keeping her abilities a secret, which sometimes was a wear on her. Moving to the US to attend Salem brought a new freedom in being able to talk about the world of magic, however there was no doubt that she felt homesick for France – there were vast differences between her two countries. Nevertheless, she had adapted to life in the United States, but she did miss the French cuisine.
During her muggle schooling, Clémence dated both males and females; her French heart meant she was attracted to both genders. There was never a long-term relationship, which was probably due to Clémence never being able share her true self. She looked forward to starting at Salem for the fresh opportunity for forming relationships, whether platonic or romantic. While she has become acquainted with those in her classes, she has not yet made any close friends. She hopes this will change soon.
Clémence is a strong woman; her French side dictates her heart, and often wins over her head. She is fiercely protective of those she cares about, however she can let her heart run free. She tries not to judge until she’s had a conversation with someone, and even then she may reserve her judgement until she is truly sure. She maintains a cool composure, even if her emotions are coursing through her – her mother taught her to do this. She is firm in what she believes is good, and what is bad. She does not shift from these views often. She tries to get along with everyone – until they piss her off royally, of course. She does not forgive easily; she tries to protect herself from getting hurt as much as possible. She can win anyone over with her rare smiles, and can come across as aloof, but that’s really just her French showing. She really wants to get become better friends with her classmates, and is trying her best to be kind at all times, but sometimes the stupidity of her classmates is just too much. However, she does try.
