this year has been the perfect blend of me losing my mind and having the time of my life
āAnd because youāre a dream, I sleep a lot.ā
-Mahmoud Darwish
everyone is strange, and being passionate is attractive. donāt be afraid to be who you are and enjoy life the way you want to
āare u okay?ā no i need more money
a quick āwhy is my life so badā checklist
howās your sleep schedule
have you eaten or drank anything besides sugar and caffeine
how long have you been sitting in one spot
have you gone out in public recently
have you taken a shower/brushed your teeth/groomed yourself properly
have you spent time doing an activity that doesnāt involve a screen
etc

i wish people would normalize being lost in life and just not knowing anything. not knowing what youāre passionate about, where you want to live, what you want to do, where you want to goā or what lies next. as a society, we normalized going to school, finding a passion, getting a job, finding a partner, getting married, having kids, working hard to earn an honest living. but what about when shit just doesnāt go that way? you really just donāt know. and whatās even worse is, you donāt know why you donāt know or even where to start so you feel alone. you feel as though youāre a disappointment to your family. as if you failed in life. but you havenāt, itās okay, to not know. to be lost. you have your whole life ahead of you to figure things out. patience is a virtue. there is no time limit on life. you donāt need to rush. donāt allow society to fixate the narrative of having all your shit together at a certain age. it isnāt realistic for most. being lost is so much more normal than we think. and i just wish people would be more transparent about it.
@ august please be a little gentle with me Iām so tired
thank you for saying what I feel
in this terrifying world you continuously have the power to offer someone else a little relief . why would you withhold that. do you remember what a little relief feels like? it feels like a lot
Honestly I think one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself is to separate your negative qualities from your identity.
Instead of saying āIām lazy,ā saying āIāve made a habit of not doing work unless itās absolutely necessary.ā Instead of saying āIām a bad friend,ā saying āI havenāt communicated as much as I should with the people I care about.ā
By being specific about your problems, and by framing it as an action that you are consciously either working on or ignoring rather than an unchangeable part of who you are, you allow yourself to accept your mistakes and work constructively on them instead of pretending they didnāt happen or wallowing in blaming yourself.
hey donāt cry. trees grow out of the ground.
the night sky has sparkles on it
the creatures live in the grass.
The warmth of the Sun tickles your skin.
your intuition is the most honest friend youāll ever have.
and maybe real success looks like
a regulated nervous system.
not comparing yourself to others.
a kind inner dialogue.
being able to show up for yourself.
being able to let go.
knowing your own worth.
having authentic connections.
having good boundaries.
living a life that makes sense to you.
