#so real #i've had this recently #i got into a new relationship and hadn't seen a friend of mine much recently so i reached out to him last week #he told me that he feels 'superflous' and implied that i've spent too much time with said new partner #as far as i'm aware in the last month there have been two occasions where i couldn't go to a planned event with said friend #one was to a show he was doing where i was unwell on the day but didn't communicate that to him - i know i should've done #the second was to go for a run but it was a v quick suggestion on his part and it happened i had only just eaten (a very late) lunch #and was at my partner's place without my running gear #so we'd have - ironically - run out of time to go for a run in that moment #but he's also been out of town twice in the last month #and has not communicated that he wanted to see me or that he was feeling xyz #also his messages included a lot of the use of 'we'???? like who's 'we'???!?!??!?!#i'm not perfect and i accept that i dropped the ball on telling him i was unwell #but honestly i didn't feel like going to *another* of his shows i.e. monologue time #he's also not working at the moment and has lots of other spare time which i do not #i had messaged about a month ago apologising for coming across as a flake - and that got no reply #so honestly i think the ball was in his court a lot more than he will admit #it's very normal to retract from your friends for a new relationship #ok rant over lol
