@mmtdls
so you dated the wrong person and learned a hard lesson. you chose the wrong major and had to start over again. you cherished a friend who backstabbed you. it sucks, but itâs also going to work out. thatâs life; you learn, hurt, love, cry, laugh, and keep going. you experience setbacks and you grow and itâs all okay.
You got this!
I got this! Love this photo :) @yaoyaoartblog
The year is 2018. Your bills are on autopay. You just got paid and you still have $1200 from the last check. When you want something, you buy it without moving money around. Your credit cards are paid off. You and your friends have 2 international trips planned and paid for this year. Your parents are in great health and youâre able to help if they need anything. You love your job. Your desired creative career is falling into place and you get to take your little cousins to Six Flags and Universal Studios over the Summer. Your relationships are healthy and supportive. All of the toxic energy from the past 6 years is gone. You going to concerts, eating good across the states and your crib has art and warmth throughout. 2018 is going to be so good to you.
Maybe I should have included guidelines.
FYI: I was basically homeless 2 years ago, could not get a job to save my life, involved in a very abusive relationship with a manipulator and I was âI donât wanna live anymore.â depressed. Fast forward 2 years laterâŚ.listen to me.
Create goal boards. Having a visual representation of your goals viewable increases your chances of accomplishing them.
Stop spending money on bullshit. Ohmygod. You think youâre not but take a good look at your finances. This was the first step to me saving a lot of money.
Why are you only making $9/hr with 8+ years of experience? Does your resume and/or interview skills need work?? Donât settle just because you didnât get those first couple of jobs. Partner with temp agencies in your cities. A lot of companies donât even publicly post jobs anymore.
Donât be so hard on yourself if you donât hit every single thing on your goal board. I didnât hit all my 2017 goals and a few of them came months after my expected completion date!
Groupon and Living Social will make you apart of the elite of traveling.
Move money into an account you have limited access to (direct deposit a certain amount into an account thatâs separate from your main checkings or with a different bank altogether.)
Work towards your desired career everyday or at least once a week; write that chapter, create that treatment, record that song, apply for that internship.
Begin to distance yourself from toxic people or confront them all at once and end the relationship.
If you can afford it, SUBSCRIBE to Kindle Unlimited, soooooooooo many books that will help you get your shit together.
Create mini weekly goals; I recommend doing 3 mini goals a week (example: no sugar this week, write for 10 minutes a day, apply to 3 jobs) These are very attainable and give you a sense of accomplishment.
Bill Autopay. I know this is a big one but youâre closer than you think. Do you pay for Spotify or Hulu monthly?? What about Apple Music or Netflix? Look at you already having one or two monthly payments getting drafted automatically đ I recommend choosing the one bill that does not change and making that your first official autopay bill!
How to be good at interviews:
Iâm having next Wednesday my first professional interview (eeeeek) so I decided to share the research Iâm doing. I googled all of this and chose the information I found most important, and organized it. I truly hope itâs helpful for someone out there :)
PLAN AND PRACTICE:
always do your homework: learn about the organization, its ideas and storyÂ
donât necessarily memorize responses, but try to have a planned general strategy for answering common interview questions
practice in front of the mirror
be ready to briefly describe related experience
compare your qualifications to what the organization wants from you
COMMON INTERVIEW QUESTIONS:
âWhatâs your biggest weakness?â Think of a genuine issue you have as well as ways you have managed to work with/around it.
âWhatâs your biggest strengths?â Stand out from the crowd and donât be afraid to speak about your strengths in an authentic and compelling way. See if your strengths align with the companyâs needs.
â Why do you want this job?â/Â âWhy should we hire you?â Stay focused on why your background makes you an ideal candidate and tell them how you are going to contribute to that department and that company.Â
âTell me about yourself.â Donât tell them your life story, instead discuss what your interests are relating to the job and why your background makes you a great candidate.
âWhy did you leave your last job/position/school?â Do not go into details about your dissatisfaction, tell them that while you valued the experience and education you received, you felt that the time had come to seek outo a new opportunity, expand your skills and knowledge, and to find a company with wich you could grow. Try to put a positive spin on things. Be honest if you were fired but donât trash your previous boss.
âWhere do you see yourself in five years?â Â Be honest about what your greater aspirations are.
And much much much more (from your behaviour to work experiences, education, interests and motivation or problems and challeges youâve faced previously), I would encourage you to try to write down some topics for each questions that work for you. Being prepared is everything.
THE DAY OF THE INTERVIEW:
sleep and eat well so you look rested and healthy on the big day
give yourself time to calm down/meditate/relax
donât noodle around on your phone or electronic device while waiting - it may communicate boredom and frivolousness, maybe stick your notebook/notes
What to wear: normally itâs best to dress neutral, professionally/formal, not overly fashionable or trendy, and brightly colored clothing is bad. Make sure your clothes are neat and wrinkle free, and make sure your image is very clean and neat.
What to bring: if revelant, extra copies of your resume on quality paper, a notepad or professional binder and pen, information you might need to complete an application.
IMPORTANT TIPS:
make eye contact
show courtesy to everyone during the interview, this means everyone from the reception staff to the interviewer herself
smile
have good posture
avoid fidgeting too much or playing with your hair/touching face
have a good handshake
donât cross your arms over your chest
walk, act, talk with confidence
be comfortable and relaxed
choose the words you say
donât place stuff on their desk
manage your reactions - facial and body expressions give clues on how you feel: project a positive image
show interest and enthusiasm
show warmth and personality - being personable is about getting the interviewerâs emotional side to like you and believe in you
donât lie to make it seem like you know something you donât. You probably wonât fool your interviewer, and admitting to not know something is much more impressive than lying
be honest
keep things simple and short, talk in 30-90 second chunks. Any less and youâre likely to seem unqualified; any more and your interviewer is likely to lose interest in what youâre saying
THINK OF QUESTIONS TO ASK: participating actively during the interview gives a good impression of your level of interest in the job. Most of times it is more adequeate to ask in the end of the interview. But I feel like you really need to make sure your questions are adequate. Examples:
âWhat types of training opportunities do you offer?â
âWhat are the chances for professional growth in this job opportunity?â
âIs there anything else I can provide you with that would be helpful?â
ALWAYS ask the â When can I expect to hear back from you about the position?â question if the interviewer does not tell you.Â
Good questions are open-ended, and thus cannot be answered with a âyesâ or âno.â Better questions are behavioral: they ask how things are done or have happened in the past, because current and past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior.
AFTER THE INTERVIEW:
shake hands with the interviewer - try to invest some feeling into the handshake and pleasantries, even if you think you bombed the interview
hold your head high and keep your cool
your emotions are probably teetering at the highest of highs or the lowest of lows, but try to stay measured
project a cool confidence, not cockiness, and walk out of the interview with your head held high
SOMETHING TO ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND:
when you know in your heart and your gut that you bring to the table something just as valuable as a paycheck and maybe much more â your tremendous experience, intellect and instinct â youâll carry yourself differently. You wonât trip over your words in an effort to please His Majesty or Her Highness, because youâll see yourself and the interviewer as equals on a level playing field.Â
you are valuable and unique. You have something very special in you and you deserve to be given a chance. good luck!
For interview
First post!! And first bujo update hurrahhhh
Also wish someone would see this cos Iâm a new studyblr ;_;

âhappy nye y'all!! đšđ âmy resolutions are pretty crappy but tried to make them realistic lol âft. tombow dual brush pen & fudenoskes, uniball sign in gold
STEP TO STEP
I. make clear what you want to accomplish
II. how you gonna do it? â make a plan (with very small steps)
III. why do you want / why do you have too?
IV. prioritize it â this is so great for it
V. positive mindset â you can do this, if you finish this you can do whatever you want without feeling guilty
VI. just start. Donât think about it. just do it!! Donât wait to be in the perfect mood for it
VII. no distractions â put your phone in another room, write down your worries if you canât think clear
VIII. track your progress â have a tracker in your bujo/journal/smart phone etc. and track every small progress / productive thing you did. That way you donât feel like you do nothing & can be proud of yourself (maybe it even motivates you if you see what you already accomplished)
IX. reward yourself â with reading, watching a series, sweets, chatting with friends whatever makes you happy
TIPS
⢠motivation âš self discipline â motivation comes and goes and of course itâs nice to be motivated but you canât always rely on it. The key isnât how to motivate yourself, itâs how to work without it (creds)
⢠done bad is better than done nothing â Iâm a perfectionist too but sometimes you need to remind yourself that not everything has to be perfect
⢠finish what you started
⢠always have in mind how youâll feel if you achieved your goal
REMINDERS
⢠donât put too much pressure on youÂ
⢠try being not so hard on yourself â if you didn'tâ do anything productive, itâs okay. Youâre human and tomorrow is a new day
⢠donât try to do everything at once

types of study breaks for every situation
if you realize youâve been studying for hours: grab a snack to refuel your body and watch a sitcom to refuel your brain. then back to the books.
if youâre feeling stressed out: take some deep breaths, text your friends, maybe stair at a wall for a few minutes. gather yourself.
if you canât seem to focus: get moving and get outside. take out the garbage, check your mail box, maybe walk your dog. just get moving and get fresh air. itâll help bring you back.
if thereâs something else going on in your life and you canât get it off your mind: write down whatâs going through your head, sort of like a diary entry. itâll help you work things out.
if youâre just mentally and physically exhausted: set a timer for 25-30 minutes and take a nap. any longer and youâll hit REM and youâll wake up feeling just as tired. once you wake up, get some caffeine in you.
if the material is boring as hell: find another way to study. see if thereâs a crash course video online about it or draw out what youâre trying to learn in diagrams and pictures to make it fun.
if people around you wonât shut up: listen to some music. soundtrack and classical music is always good because they wonât absorb you as much as music with lyrics. white noise (like ocean waves, rain sounds, etc.) also works.
if you only half understand a concept: call/message a friend whoâs not in the class and try to teach the material to them. this will help you mentally work through the material and will help you remember it as well.
2017 monthly calendar printables
Today I am finally bringing you my 2017 calendar printables! I decided to give you a lot more options than my previous version of them. Iâve made three different designs, all with different pastel colour options. I was also receiving a lot of messages asking for my calendars and other printables to have versions starting on a Sunday, so Iâve included them too.
For ease, Iâve created entire Google Drive folders for each design (version one being the top, two being the middle, and three the bottom), then separated by their starting day. You can then choose your preferred colour and print! The files are in PDF form and feature all 12 months of the year. Click the links below to pick your calendar!
Version one folder Version two folder Version three folder
I hope you enjoy using these and if so, Iâd love to see them in action! Feel free to tag me on Tumblr with #emmastudies or on Instagram with my username @emmastudiess in any photos you upload. If there are any problems or errors, please let me know via my inbox.
Disclaimer: This printable is for personal use only. You may edit it yourself if you like, but please do not redistribute without my permission. Thank you! Â

study less study smart
I decided to share my notes taken from this amazing 1 hour Youtube lecture by Marty Lobdell. i really liked him and his tips, i think they are super effective and cover a lot of situations! i highly recommend it!!!!! wow
but here are the tips and examples Marty mentions, so if you donât have the time to go through the full hour, you can just scroll down. hope this helps somebody!
Break your study time in chunks with breaks
most students lose focus at 25 minutes
itâs a mistake to keep going once you do, since you wonât actually learn anything and youâll hate every minute of it
so when you start losing focus take a 5 minute break
do something nice like talking to someone or listening to music
itâs something you practice so with time youâll be able to work for more time without losing focus
in the end of the study session have a big reward you look forward to
Create a study area
environment highly affects the way you act. Bedrooms are for sleeping, kitchens for eating: youâll feel sleepy in your bedroom and hungry in the kitchen. So if you have a study area, itâll be easier to start studying and staying focused.
study in a specific room like an office or school library if you can
if you have to study in your bedroom use a specific object you only use for studying: a lamp/desk. Make it a no-distraction, away from your bed, blank walls area.
The more active the learning, the better
80% active learning 20% passive
ask yourself: is it a concept or a fact?
learning a concept: understand/grasp/know it
put it into your own words
really think about the meaning of it
relate it with something you already know
teach somebody else. Recapitulate what youâve learned. Talk out loud even if you donât have anyone to teach - talk alone. Or at anyone that listens.
learning a fact: memorize it
use mnemonics
Acronyms (e.g. colours of the rainbow RoyGBiv â red orange yellow green blue indigo violet)
Coined sayings - anything popular or sayings youâve heard since you were a child.
Interacting images â work even better if theyâre weird. Creative associations make you never forget specific details. (e.g. 1 gram of fat has 9 calories: picture a fat cat â each cat has 9 lives)
any time 2 things are highly similar but not the same you will get maximal interference!! USE mnemonics!! (e.g. afferent vs efferent neurons: SAME - Sensory Afferent Motor Efferent)
Be a part of  study groups
others can help you in ways you never thought before
Recognizing VS remembering
never confuse the two
while reviewing a chapter you may recognize concepts but not actually know them
and when you get to the test you wonât be able to remember any of it
so quiz yourself without looking at it
or stop in a page of your notes/textbook and ask yourself what is the concept immediately after and before it
Get your REM SleepÂ
get ~8 hours so you donât undo your studying
this is how your brain stores permanent memories
without it youâre ability to remember seriously decreases
most people donât even begin to take the advice but itâs simple: sleep better. Do better.
Thereâs 162 hours in a week. There is time.
reflect on what you are doing with your time and what activities you have to prioritize to succed as a student
Taking notes is vital.
right after the class take 5 minutes to expand everything youâve jotted down, give it depth.
NOT hours later. You wonât remember half the things you wrote down.
Ask your questions to class mates and teachers.
teachers want you to succeed and itâs more than ok to ask your question in the teacherâs office or in the next class
How to use a textbook: SQ3R technique
Survey Question Read Recite Review
Survey: skim through the entire chapter in a couple of minutes.
Raise questions: e.g. what is osmosis? What is this graphic about? What is a prototype?
it causes you to look for answers and youâll find the information better once you actually study it after. If you intend to find something you learn it better.
Start studying for tests early.
donât undo yourself. You should only be reviewing the days before the test. donât leave it till the last minute!
(donât just scroll through this!!!! really think about these methods and how you can actually implement them so you can benefit from them!!! these actually work but only if you put them into practice boo good luck!)
YES. YES. ALL OF THIS. PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS.Â
