Did You Know Segment! Did You Know that Walt Disney himself was so inspired by the history and architecture of Pennsylvania? That he and his imagineers incorporated many elements of our State in both the parks of Disneyland, CA and Walt Disney World. He LOVED the Railroad , the Birth of our Country rich in history and the Gothic Revival/ Colonial Period of homes in and around Pennsylvania. Here's a beautiful side trip/weekend getaway for any Disney fan... Our family LOVES taking drives and it never fails we always find something Disney Inspired or Related, a town of Jim Thorpe does that when were are "homesick" for Disney. Walt and his team of Imagineers back in the late 50's early 60's travelled to parts of PA/MD and VA looking for inspiration for the NEW attraction that they wanted to build for Disneyland, CA only to put it off for Walt and his team were going to be part of the 1964 World's Fair.. and then dealing with Walt's untimely death in 1966. In 1969 "The Haunted Mansion" officially opened in Disneyland and then in 1971 when Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom Park opened. Here are pictures of the Harry & Asa Packer Mansions in Jim Thorpe... Tours/Wine Tours and Murder Mysteries are given during the season they are open.
