Chapter 3, The End. — New Moon
i still can’t believe the twilight movies have people genuinely thinking charlie swan deserves the dad of the year award. book charlie couldn’t handle his only child’s tears to the point that he would avoid her any time she had any emotion at all, including during her catatonic depression, he would disable her truck on the pure suspicion she may be sneaking out (because she went to bed too early in the evening… to spend the night with edward in her room), he left to go on long fishing trips randomly, allowed her to move in with him and immediately do all the cooking, cleaning and laundry for him without helping out at all, when he grounded her at the end of new moon he basically treated her as his live in maid once again, he sided when jacob when he basically sexually assaulted her in eclipse, and most of all, he never fought renee for custody of bella because “renee needed bella to take care of her”. bella was 18 months old when renee took her and left btw.
The thing people don't understand about Bella is that she unconditionally and irrevocably matched Edward's freak. He broke into her house to watch her sleep, fucked up her truck so she couldn't see her other friends, ate tears off of her face, and she was super into it. That's why fan lore where Bella is grounded or relatable doesn't work. We were explicitly told that she was these things because it's how she saw herself, but at every possible turn in the entire series she is insane and melodramatic and obsessively insecure and controlling and that's why she and Edward belong together.

Always writing “Bella and Edward” instead of “Edward and Bella” because yk Edward would want to put her first
Could you believe that, despite everything I’ve put you through, I love you, too?
“You’re intoxicated by my very presence.”
LMAO
“If you locked an alcoholic in a room full of stale beer, he’d gladly drink it. But he could resist, if he wished to, if he were a recovering alcoholic. Now let’s say you placed in that room a glass of hundred-year-old brandy, the rarest, finest cognac — and filled the room with its warm aroma — how do you think he would fare then?” We sat silently, looking into each other’s eyes — trying to read each other’s thoughts. He broke the silence first. “Maybe that’s not the right comparison. Maybe it would be too easy to turn down the brandy. Perhaps I should have made our alcoholic a heroin addict instead.” “So what you’re saying is, I’m your brand of heroin?” I teased, trying to lighten the mood. He smiled swiftly, seeming to appreciate my effort. “Yes, you are exactly my brand of heroin.”
day 3: twilight: new moon 🌙 tried something new with the frames and flowers that’s from a cover variant. it’s a rainy day today in sydney, so it’s perfect for twilight.

Twilightblr has been dead so I'm gonna kick the hornet's nest
The issue with Edward in Eclipse isn’t that he was controlling/manipulative. I don’t think he really was. I put disabling Bella’s truck on par with sneaking into her room— obviously a bad thing to do irl, but in the context of a vampire story it’s... pretty tame
Yes he was jealous of Jacob’s bond with Bella but he also did truly fear Bella was over-trusting and could very well die for it. What else is he supposed to do when Bella is making this high-risk choice? Physically restrain her? Imagine the shit y'all would've given him for that
You’re absolutely right. He thought Jacob was a threat to her safety
every day I punish myself by logging into this website to see posts that say “twilight would be so much better without *thing about twilight that appeals to me specifically*”
bella swan is supposed to be a quiet boring friendless loser with neglectful parents. edward cullen is supposed to be a creepy vampire with religious trauma and an anxiety disorder. they're both supposed to be repressed and bad at communicating and lame and awkward. they're supposed to fall in love too fast and too deeply. they're supposed to make terrible decisions. hello. can anybody hear me.
Bella giving Edward a hard time about getting married and throwing out “well I’m not changing my name!” Edward: “you don’t want to share a name?” Bella: “That’s not the issue. It’s the 21st century, why don’t you change your name?”
She said it as a “gotcha” to stall out the argument more than anything—she knows she’s speaking to a centenarian, after all— but Edward immediately softens and says “You’d share your name with me?” And well, okay, why not?
When she eventually says “yes” and then, even later, “I do”, they become Bella and Edward Swan.
sometimes…..fictional characters…….don’t need to name their children after dead people…….

Edward was excited to wear matching outfits with Bella. He was amazed that he could dazzle her. He recited Romeo's lines in her ear. He left notes on her pillow. He was so desperate for her hand in marriage, he allowed her to add a condition to his condition.
Edward is a lovesick dork first and an awkward loser second.
