There are a lot of reasons to kill a man. In my line of work, you see them all. Greed, lust, despair. Murder is often meager and selfish. Lives are taken because somebody lost at the track that day. Or because dinner was late on the table. Sometimes there’s no reason at all. Just boredom and booze on a Saturday night. For me there’s only one reason that ever made sense. Doesn’t make your hands any cleaner, but maybe it’ll help you sleep at night. You do it for love.
