AT&T, ExxonMobil, Macy’s, Nationwide, Rite Aid, Direct Energy and Hulu are joining with American Express to launch Plenti, the first U.S.-based coalition loyalty program with well-known brands where consumers can earn and use Plenti points for purchasing a wide range of products, regardless of the payment method consumers choose to use.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — In true San Francisco irony, smartphones were used Thursday to snap pictures of a historic phone that was used to make the first coast-to-coast phone call 100 years ago.

There’s great news for those with friends and family in Mexico—AT&T is now offering unlimited calling from the U.S. to any number in Mexico. This includes wireless and landline numbers. This is video of Dora, a year-old Boxer mix, that AT&T technician David Baxter found when he opened a gate to check remote terminal equipment. Dora was starving and her hind legs were bound with rope. David got Dora water, food and then help for her injuries. She was placed with Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue, located in Tehachapi, Calif. And now this story has an even happier ending. A colleague shared the story with Kevin P. Smith, a senior technology project manager from San Ramon. After a quick discussion with his wife, Karen, Kevin called Marley's Mutts to make adoption arrangements. The couple, along with their dog, Dante, made the six-hour trek to meet Dora in person on Saturday. Kevin said it was love at first sight. After completing all the paperwork, the Smiths took Dora home. “Dora is a very special and loving dog,” Kevin said. “She begins to wag her short Boxer tail, looks you directly in the eye and you are owned.” Marley's Mutts is a nonprofit created to help find permanent homes for stray, abandoned or otherwise homeless dogs. They cater to the larger dogs (40 pounds and up) and accept any breed as long as they don't show vicious behavior. A short time after Dora's rescue, Marley's Mutts needed some help with a telephone line issue and guess which AT&T technician answered the call? Yes, it was David. Take a look at this YouTube video of his reunion with Dora. The organization's founder, Zach Skow, said they specialize in taking on the really tough cases. "In a case like this, we get to see the very worst of people, and thankfully, the very best," Zach said. "Dora is a sweet dog and so lucky that David found her when he did." That's Dora's happy ending. And as so of you many have commented in the previous story about Dora, if you are considering adding a pet to your household in 2015, many amazing animals are waiting to be adopted at Marley's Mutts and shelters like it in your community.

Urban League Launches $1.25M Save Our Sons Program in Ferguson, North St. Louis County

This week the Urban League announced major contributions from AT&T and Anheuser-Busch to support the Save Our Sons workforce training program for African Americans and other men residing in Ferguson and the surrounding North St. Louis County communities. The Urban League’s Save Our Sons initiative will serve up to 500 men in St. Louis County over the next two years.

“As a company, AT&T is deeply committed to the communities in which we live, work and serve,” said John Sondag, President of AT&T Missouri. “AT&T is proud to support the efforts of the Urban League and the ‘Save Our Sons’ program because we recognize how important it is to help ensure that all individuals have access to the tools that will help them succeed in the workforce and in life.”

In addition, the League received over $500,000 in support from St. Louis’ corporate community, including Monsanto, Wells Fargo, Emerson, Regions Bank, Reliance Bank and the NAACP to launch this program.

“As an active member of the St. Louis community, we want to support programs that help to deliver solutions to important needs in our community,” said Julio Suárez, Senior Director of Community Affairs, Anheuser-Busch. “We were drawn to the Save Our Sons program, because it offers immediate tools and resources to individuals in need and ready to invest in their future. We applaud the Urban League for developing this program and value our longstanding history of working in partnership with the organization.”
