Oh girl that’s spaghetti
Our goal was to change something in our society, to make sure that people noticed us and got passionate about our game. Now we’re going home with some tears in our eyes, but with the certainty that we gave something to the Italian people. That we were able to move them. We gave our everything, we tried, it wasn’t enough, but for us this is only a starting point. We showed to everyone that Italy is here and, despite the fact that we started later than other countries, we can still have a say. We have a great future ahead of us.

Sad news.
"The ASD Riozzese, dismayed and distraught, announces that our Arianna Varone passed away in the night due to a tragic road accident. We cling to the pain of Varone's family to which we are and will always be close.
President Mileto Faraguna"
She was just 21 years old. A young player with a bright future ahead.
Rest in Peace.

Amidst the chaos, one positive note... 😏
Open letter from the Serie A players
On the eve of the decision on the possible resumption of the Women’s Serie A, we are very keen on clarifying what our current state of mind is and what the thoughts we have matured are. We have always been united in these months, patiently waiting for a decision regarding our future to be communicated to us. We understood that we should wait, because there were priorities to face and many things to understand about an emergency that deeply struck our country that rightly required weighted decisions in order to start again every activity of our daily life with an adequate level of security. When our time came, we were told that there was a will to try to continue so as not to spoil the beautiful path that women’s football was doing in our country. Open to any solution, we made ourselves available to understand if there are adequate conditions to continue.
While we waited and worked on a new start, however, the true reality of our sport, as it is today, has also emerged. The emergency has in fact highlighted all the fragility of a still immature but promising system that has been growing in recent years and that has had to face a rapid and very serious situation. The players are very confused today. We are not afraid to admit it. We weren’t, we were united in one mindset in these months, now we are not. And this is because the wait generates doubts, especially because of how it was lived. Despite what has been acknowledged, despite the perplexities, the doubts, the confusion that this three-month wait has generated, once again we are here, to speak with a common voice, because despite the now legit differences on opinions, we realized that instead there are things that are very clear to us and on which we are united like and even more than ever. So we want to talk about what unites us and what we believe is really important in the end.
To date, after many months of inactivity, unresolved health and organizational problems remain and we are almost close to the start of a new season. While discussing the restart, we cannot do it speaking for everyone from the same point of view. Many players are still haven’t resumed training. They are not put in a position to practice their sport and are disappointed by the lack of this possibility. Even waiting for a decision would have been different had we all seen again the grass of a playing field, but as of today it is not so.
We learned about the proposal to end the championship with a reduced formula of play-offs and play-outs involving six of the twelve teams in our championship. We do not share it, because we do not see how sporting merit would be protected with a modality that, in our opinion, does not guarantee true equity. The players believe this: either all of us go out on the pitch or none of us does. Everyone must be able to fight for their goals, or they must put an end to this season and prepare for the next being under the same conditions.
What appears as a summary to our eyes is that our system needs to be reformed. It is time to decide which direction we need to take so that similar situations no longer exist. We are the Serie A Femminile players, people talk about us and about the feats of the National Team in which some of us belong and that we feel ours. But it’s time to guarantee the right protections to every one of us, a professional status and real conditions of professionalism.
As always, we do not comment on whether to continue or not this season. We are aware that it could be an opportunity for us to resume, but we also believe that the real opportunity that has emerged in these recent months, or perhaps a need that can no longer be postponed, is to push forwards this system, making it grow and selecting the right bases to make us rise as football players, along with our clubs and our federation, in order to give substance and resources to this piece of football that already is in the heart of many.
