Yoga challenge day 2: I create
I’m trying to get back on a yoga grind, so I decided to do a 30 day challenge.
the mantra for the day was “I create”. I was thinking “I create music, art, emotion..blah blah”. As I was in child’s pose, a thought came to many, actually two, no three, no seven.
I create these thoughts that cloud my mind from my breath.
Yoga for me isn’t supposed to be just physical, but mental. I never had a blank slate for yoga. These thoughts about “what will I wear to internship tomorrow” or “I bet he’s forgotten me”, “Why did I let myself gain so much weight in college?” and even “what will I eat after this?” are the barriers between the mat and I. I was still engaged in yoga as I realized all these thoughts sought my attention and were succeeding. I couldn’t find the strength to just shove them under the mat. I felt so overwhelmed that I began to sob & I embraced it. I let the tears fall from my face. I was releasing the dark corners of my mind that yoga brought to light. I know I’m only 22, but I want to seek myself.
I’m beginning the lengthy road to self-discovery, and I’m trying to be the real and better Brittany out of it. I finally know my favorite color. It’s such a trivial thing to know, but It’s an example of how I’m learning about myself and I find comfort in the color Gray. I can give that answer when the question arises [what a common question it is].
Out of this. I create. I create myself.
