"Kagerou?" She murmured, repeating his name. Stumbling to get back on her feet, she awkwardly stood back up, staring down at the other with worrisome eyes. His appearance was almost exactly like Hibiya’s, disregarding the red colour scheme he had. The boy had some sort of aura emanating from him, but she just didn’t know what. The closest thing she could compare it to was.. heat.
"I see.. I can safely say that you have to do something with Hibiya, right?" Came the rather awkward reply. She shifted her weight onto one leg and continued staring at the other uncomfortably, awaiting his answer. But honestly, who was he? Why did he look like Hibiya? And more importantly, why did he say that he was surprised that she didn’t recognize him?
Watching the other stumble, Kagerou couldn't help but snicker a bit. She seemed so nervous, so unnerved. To others, it may make them feel bad for Momo. To him, it was entertaining. He never managed to get a reaction like that out of most people. Then again, most people never associated with heat hazes. Excluding a certain pair of kids that happened to roam the city. Still, it bothered him that she didn't even know his name, or anything. Guess that's why he shouldn't trust certain kids to tell people about him. Deciding to listen to Momo, Kagerou's smirk turned to a frown in a few seconds. Hibiya.
That kid who had everything, according to Kagerou. Friends, family, a life to live. The kid who was a target, so to speak. A target for someone stronger, someone better, to crush like a bug. That was what Hibiya was to Kagerou. A bug. Of course, he was one of the bugs you couldn't kill. The haze was there to mock the boy; there to crush his spirit, make him weak. That was how Kagerou was associated with Hibiya. But, saying something like to Momo wasn't very polite. So, he decided to the next best thing. The next best thing meaning to lie, of course.
"Yeah." Kagerou nodded, that smirk returning to his face once more. "You could say that Hibiya is..." He was unsure of what to say. A spineless play thing? No, that would go against his plan to lie to the idol. Thinking for another moment, the heat haze cleared his throat, and began to speak once more. "Hibiya and I could be considered... close."
At least Kouri’s actually pretty. Kagerou looks like a Hibiya that got a little too sunburned.
At least Kagerou looks like someone who survived during the loop.
Stuck with a lame roommate.
Yes, she’s looking at you, Kagerou.
Kagerou is the one stuck with a lame roommate.
Today was just like any other day; hot, boring, and uneventful. It didn’t seem like there was anyone around to entertain her, so she was just stuck sitting on a wooden bench right outside of the apartment building, sighing to herself. The atmosphere was rather unsettling and silent; there weren’t even birds or anything chirping.
And then, she started breaking a sweat. Did it just get extremely hot here all of a sudden? Oh, geez, it was getting warmer and warmer with each passing second. She yanked off her pink sweater and threw it to the side, wiping her forehead with her hand. When the voice called out to her, she shrieked in surprise and fell off the bench.
"Oh my god-" Turning her head around quickly, her orange hues greeted ones that were crimson red, much like the colour scheme of the haze. The stranger in front of her had the appearance of a child, and resembled someone that she knew very well.
Wait. How did he know her name? And about the Mekakushi Dan? And about.. She swallowed the lump in her throat. She was nervous, very nervous. “.. who are you?”
Judging by Momo's reaction, Kagerou was able to guess that Hibiya hadn't bothered to mention him. Wow, the kid gets himself a whole group of buddies, and what does he do? Not say a word about Kagerou, that's what. Rude. The heat haze stuck around Hibiya in the loop, and he wasn't even mentioned. Even though he only stuck around to taunt Hibiya, the haze felt like he should have been spoken of. Nonetheless, Kagerou was going to make himself known.
Shifting his focus back to the idol, Kagerou listened to her question. Strange, she actually sounded... frightened? Maybe, but Kagerou couldn't tell, but he didn't care that much either. Why would he care if she was scared? Placing that smirk back onto his lips, the heat haze answered Momo's inquiry.
"The name's Kagerou," He responded, sticking his hands into his pockets. "I'm surprised you don't know who I am."

The perfect word to describe the city was hot. It was extremely hot outside, according to numerous people on the streets. As previously said, many inhabitants seemed quite upset about it. Kagerou, of course, was perfectly fine with the hot temperatures. The heat spells of summer were perfect for traveling about, if you happened to be a heat haze. Recently, the haze hadn't seen any other hazes, not even Shiro. This just made him bored, and he didn't feel like being bored all day, every day. So, the second best thing for him to do was locate Hibiya. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way.
No luck. The brunette boy wasn't anywhere to be seen, not even at the park. How boring. Kagerou was supposed to be bothering the kid, but he couldn't even pinpoint his location. The haze sighed, deciding to sit on one of the swings. There was no Hibiya, no Hiyori. The park was completely void of life, besides for himself. No one was around for him to annoy, torture, mock, et cetera. He absentmindedly began to swing back and forth slightly, thinking. If he couldn't find those two kids, perhaps someone else would come along. After all, Kagerou had noticed the many new arrivals to the city. These new people... he wondered if they were aware of their deaths. If they knew, then good for them, they weren't that stupid. If they didn't... Why would he care?
Everyone was dead anyway, so knowing it simply wouldn't matter.
The sound of footsteps from behind made Kagerou pay attention. The heat haze frowned, wondering what kind of person had arrived. Was it a kid, or an adult? Did he know them? Did he want to? Only one way to find out. Quickly turning his head, Kagerou glared at whoever was there. The only thing he said was in a sharp, somewhat bitter tone.
"What the hell do you want?"
{ ayyyy lmao im writing a starter right now!! }
whataheartthrob
Gross.
Looks like one of Hibiya's friends had crossed the heat haze's path. It was that idol girl, no less. Not that Kagerou minded that much though. Any person was worth talking to in this city, if he was able "converse" them, or rather bother them in any kind of way possible. Besides, why not talk to an idol? That idea seemed somewhat acceptable to him. She may even end up leading him to Hibiya. The haze didn't want to communicate to any of the new arrivals; not yet, at least. Those who were seen regularly around the Haze would know their surroundings better. They wouldn't be asking a shit ton of questions either. When questions got repetitive, that was Kagerou's absolute limit. Turning his attention back to Momo, he cleared his throat to get her attention.
"Well, look who's here. It's Momo Kisaragi, an idol. But," He smirked, then raised his eyebrow. "Where's your little club of friends? Could they be dead?" Kagerou's eyes widened in fake surprise, before letting out a small laugh. Of course they were dead. Everyone who was located in this place was dead.
Roommate? Roommate.
Roommates are lame.
