There wasn’t any easy explanation as to why Taylor was the way he was; it could be that he was so obsessed with keeping up the image of being at the top of the pack– a bad boy who didn’t conform and therefore didn’t adopt meaningful relationships. Such an explanation would suggest that his aversion to feelings was a façade (which, technically speaking, it was, but that wasn’t yet a true fact for Tay himself). Another explanation might suggest that this simply was how Taylor existed, with no real desire for affection, operating only in the capacity of instant gratification and physical pleasures. A primal existence, but valid nonetheless. As blue-eyed boy watched the couple across the room, he wondered what their motivations were, why they decided to trust each other, and whether it was a conscious decision or something beyond active decision-making. Realizing he was zoned out, Taylor blinked and adjusted himself in the seat. “Hudson,” he cleared his throat. “How do you have your money?” he asked rather directly.
