Why do so many spiritual teachers, even Buddhists, equate the path of liberation to that of a warrior? 

It is very simple. 

The purpose of the path of the warrior, in every age and culture, is to conquer fear. All the combat training in modern armies while teaching technical skills is actually designed to help a human being placed into a very inhuman situation which is people trying to kill you. A warrior can be frightened but that warrior cannot give into fear.

The elimination of fear is the basis of all spiritual paths and all religions.

Okay, but also: if you see a Muslim praying in public and they have something in front of them, like a purse or a bag or something like that, you can pass in front of them, but pass in front of that object.

it’s called a sutrah, and it’s meant to act as a physical barrier between the person praying and someone who might happen to pass in front.

Also, if you did this and didn’t know, please don’t beat yourself up over it. Now you know! Muslims aren’t supposed to pass in front of Muslims praying, either, because prayer is communication with God and you don’t want to break that connection.

See, this is such good advice, because it can put you in the frame of mind that you need to be in to combat depression. Even things that seem little, like, “My plant will die if I don’t water it,” or “I’m the only one that takes out the trash, anyways” are examples of how you’re needed and valuable, even appreciated.

There are people out there that need you and love you. Stay alive friend, because it is so worth it.
