Hello dear Andrea! 😍🙌
I'm glad you asked, you can ALWAYS ask me to discuss about it! I love talking about One Piece, and of course I'm always happy to join in on OPLA discussions. Just like you, my thoughts are completely confused! 😵💫
I binge-watched it with a friend and we both really enjoyed and hyped it. But just like you, I see plenty of room for interpretation here. I think the adaptation of the ZoTash scenes is good overall, but something was definitely missing. There are two scenes in particular that I miss: 1. The moment they meet, where Tashigi beats up the soldiers and blushed, and 2. the extended version of the manga/anime where Zoro pushed Tashigi against the wall. I did like it, though, when Sanji said to Zoro, “Are you having trouble with your ex?”
Apart from those two scenes, I don't think the chemistry between them was as good as it was in the anime or manga. What I did notice, though, is that Zoro couldn't look her in the eye. But he also didn’t make eye contact with anyone else throughout the entire season(s), so this probably can’t be interpreted as a sign. I like Mackenyu in his action scenes, but for me something is missing in his acting.
I think if I, as a fan, had seen the live-action adaptation first, I wouldn't have become such a big fan of the two of them.
I'm curious to see if Punk Hazard will be adapted into a movie—because I wonder if there will even be room for this story in the OPLA.
I think Tashigi is super cute and really well portrayed. I absolutely love her as an actress. If she ever comes to a convention and I have the chance to meet her, I’d want to do it right away! For me, her portrayal was kind of like a personal revelation: I realized that she’s very much like me in terms of personality! I've decided to cosplay her at Dokomi in Düsseldorf next year.
(I really liked the portrait of Smoker, too; but what I don't like is how he treated Tashigi. Of course, it was based on the original story, but in my opinion, he treated her badly at some parts.)
What about you? I'm SO excited to hear what you have to say! 💚💙
