“ look, i’m not saying that our methods are weak. i’m just saying that we should probably change them ! it’s been years & we’ve got not even one picture of the thing. ” another tangent about the deadmore monster… what’s new for draco ? “ we need a plan of ACTION because so far, we’re getting nowhere. ” he stops in his tracks, an a-ha ! moment ready to spring. “ ok, i’ve got it. we need to befriend a townie. like… someone who would be pretty involved. we gain their trust, slowly get information out of them. we convince them to let us be part of like… whatever sick & twisted shit is going on with this town and that thing… then BAM ! sabotage. ” he looks at presley with a proud and satisfied smile. “ how’s that sound ? ”
“i don’t know, i still think that tree we snapped last week made a pretty compelling monster. we’ve gotta be doing something right.” the first part of draco’s thought wasn’t anything new for presley and it didn’t even phase her pace or the smile on her face, they both knew they weren’t getting closer to anything and the only difference she saw was that while she loved the company, she hasn’t taken the monster-hunting expedition all too seriously after the first month. what she wasn’t expecting was the second part. “wait, wait, wait...” a pause. her face slowly turned into one of serious thought. “you’re suggesting manipulating one of these cult-murderer-whatevers and then breaking their trust by ruining their sacrifice thing so we can get proof that a people-eating monster even exists?” another pause. presley’s head turned to face him and suddenly her previous smile was back on display. “sounds fun. where do we start? i’m thinking we have to get those undercover sunglasses. then i guess... we figure out who’s apart of it. how do we do that?”
textbook cracked open in front of him and as fin stared down at the page, all he could think was ‘what the fuck.’ had they covered this in class? a pointless question considering fin had fallen asleep mid-lecture earlier in the day and then missed the day before. “sorry—” fin picked up his head. he didn’t want to interrupt. it was just that he was desperate: both to pass and to not have to look at these equations any longer. “i just… you don’t happen to know anything about econ do you? it’s just, my brain… it’s not really working right now and i could use the help.”
all presley wanted was a glass of soda and something interesting to happen. when the only other patron of the diner decided to speak, a smile made its way onto her face and she turned around to face the speaker. “sounds like a universal problem. my expertise is in how to pick up envelopes of cash and occasionally swipe a card.” despite the clear lack of understanding, she wasn’t passing up the chance to finally do something... even if it sounded entirely boring. drink in hand, she made her way into the booth directly beside him. “whatcha looking at though. maybe if we pull a frankenstein and stitch together our brains we can figure it out.”
╰ °✧ ( COURTNEY EATON, 22, SHE/HER ) : — ❝ here comes presley moeroa to help guide the tour ! they’ve lived in deadmore for twenty two years and do know that the myth is true. besides helping guide you all today, they are also a front desk clerk at devil’s backbone motel ! they’re known around town for being assured, eccentric, waggish, and reticent. they’re said to give off a getting calls in the middle of the night, the smell of cheap wine, laughter swirling through the air, a bark louder than one’s bite vibe. some people suspect that they’re hiding that their father is mr. menagerie. hopefully the town and tourists don’t find out ! ❞ — penned by ( tj, they/them, 18, est )
here’s a bunch of random facts about presley! she is a new muse so i don’t know too much about her, but hopefully this group lets me figure it out. if you wanna plot or have something in mind, feel free to hit me up in the ims because i’m most likely to check those, or on discord at teejay#3306. otherwise i do prefer chem just so we can figure out something super neat together down the line!
presley was conceived during a short relationship between her mother and a man whom the only thing she shares with is her surname. when she came into the picture, she was destined for “great things”: which coincidentally is what the poster says in her family’s motel breakroom. instead of being ready to take on the world, she was expected to take on the family motel after her mother leaves the business and live in their small home that she grew up in underneath. when she was six she was already shadowing her mother, when she was fifteen she was helping out where she could after school, and when she graduated high school she began running the front desk full time and never got the chance to go to college or get out of this awful town. not like she could afford to, but still.
as strange and aloof presley acts, she has plans. right now she’s saving up to go to college anywhere not here to be an arachnologist. for her tenth birthday all she wanted was a pet tarantula and when she finally got her rose hair tarantula named charlotte she was estatic and her obsession escalated from there to a dream career for her. if you need a spider removed from your house or what sort of spider you need to hypothetically kill a guy, she’s all yours.
so regarding the creature in the woods, presley never was told about it directly until she started school when she met a kid who told her everything about it. at first she was scared, but it started her down the path of liking creepy stuff. truth be told, she doesn’t think there’s actually a monster that eats people or accepts sacrifices, but she does agree that something has to be out there in the woods that are causing some of the disappearances and conspiracies, which is why she’s out there on the hunt to find out what it is to prove that it’s not some demon. that and boredom.
she’s totally, completely, and utterly gay. she found out when she realized her first crush was elvira from the cheesy horror movie show she hosted and that presley would watch whenever she had a chance. now she’s slowly grown up to watching scarier films and true crime.
while she’s always wondered who her father was, she’s never really pressed on the matter. people have told her plenty of names and rumors have been whispered around her, but she kind of respects her mother’s privacy. if she doesn’t know she’s probably not meant to and besides, he wasn’t part of her life anyways. even if she’s kind of stuck in this kind of motel life at least her mom’s been there for her through all of it. she’ll never admit that though.
