i refuse to believe at least some of the screenwriters weren’t like [visible confusion] when the showrunners decided not to renew supriya ganesh
Javadi but it’s her becoming suspicious of Mohabbot
(This is just basically Javadi and Mohan’s friendship with a sprinkle of Abbot. I’m just so obsessed with the idea of the two girls having a close bond)
(This was way longer than I thought it would be. Also please know I just be writing out of the top of my head, so grammar is out the window. Also, also 18+)
When Victoria Javadi knows something, she knows something. And Samira is great at hiding things, always has been. Always making sure that whatever her mind is currently torturing her about, it stays way below the surface. She’s had tons of practice with patients, Robby, and her mother.
But the thing about being a pesky coworker who turned into an annoying little sister over the last few months, you learn things fast. And Victoria has never had an older sister to bother, so she will take every opportunity she gets to see how things play out.
She started getting suspicious when one night probably a month ago, during a facetime conversation, Samira suddenly told her about plans to go to a bar with some friends from college. Samira was excited, Victoria was completely jealous she couldn’t come, and of course Samira had to pick the hottest outfit on planet Earth to wear. The same outfit Victoria had put together for her!
But regardless of all of that, Vic could easily think of how the night would go. Samira would most likely send her a few sporadic texts throughout the night, each getting more sloppy and incoherent. Maybe one drunk voice memo, one crazy text about someone from work she might bump into, and then a couple hours later the picture of takeout to reassure Vic that she made it home.
However that night, she got pretty coherent texts. One voice memo of Samira and her friends all saying hi to her…. and then nothing.
It wasn’t too out of the ordinary, they only started this routine of constantly communicating only recently, but it was enough for Vic to check her phone. She wanted to call, was about to send a “u good?” text, before she checked the location saw she was home and decided not to press any further. Samira probably had gotten caught it up with the night, and must have forgotten their routine. It was all good. Plus, Vic will see her in the morning.
The text actually came the second Victoria woke up. Her stupid alarm reminding her of the career she chose, she slaps her hand around her night stand to grab her phone. As she silences her alarm, she is met with notification from the contact Mimi 🤍.
“This should be good.” Victoria bites her lip, wondering what crazy video she’s about to open, but all she gets is one very desperate message.
Please come to work early. i need ur help 🥹
Dr. Javadi ran to work that day.
She pushed through the commotion at the front desk, made her quick hellos to everyone on shift, and then practically ran through the door of the employees bathroom.
“Samira?” Victoria creeps in turning the corner.
“Yeah?” Samira gives a weak answer.
“What happened to you—“ And then Victoria sees it, and she doubles over in laughter.
“Please.” Samira holds up a hand, holding back her own laugh. “I really don’t need to hear this.”
Victoria is holding her stomach at this point. “Real classy, Mimi. Super classy.”
That’s when Victoria makes her way over, able to see in the poor lighting, the hickey that has appeared on the right side on Samira’s neck. It wasn’t bad, not a huge distraction, but it was there and pretty apparent. And Victoria soaks this all in, because that means the Princess of the Pitt, had a drunken hookup. And Samira doesn’t do this, she hardly even gets drunk.
“Had a fun night I see.” Vic chuckles.
“Yeah, yeah.” Samira rolls her eyes, gesturing to the bathroom counter that is littered with makeup. “Can you help me out, Dr. J? I started but you’ve always been better at this. Plus I feel like you would’ve hated me if I didn’t show you.
“Oh yes, I totally would have. And of course, I’ll help you out.” Victoria says, picking up a makeup sponge almost immediately. “But you owe me.”
As she’s working, it’s hard not to ask, so she goes straight for it.
Victoria raises her eyebrows, lifting Samira’s chin. “What’s his name?”
“What if it was a her?” Samira tests.
Victoria pulls back. “Was it?”
“No.” Samira sighs, a little defeated, and Victoria watches as her eyes shift. A clear Mohan tell. “It was a guy. But he’s not important, it wasn’t serious.”
“Did you tell him that?” Victoria scoffs. “Cause he seemed to really like you.”
“Gosh this feels so childish.” Samira puts a hand to her face.
“Still haven’t given me a name?”
“Trust me Vic, it was a one time thing.”
“Let me guess, some hot shot lawyer… Wait! Accountant! You always seem to get those.”
“No, and no.” Samira raises an eyebrow. “And you can’t guess.”
That’s when alarm bells start ringing. Cause as much as Samira doesn’t do much outside of work, she’s an open book, especially after the connection they started forming. Nothing was off the table. So why start now?
“So, what?” Victoria turns her head, inspecting the work. “This guy was like a douche? Bad in bed?”
“Um.” Samira hesitates. Her eyes move to the floor as if recalling something, and flush creeps on her face.
“Shit, clearly not.” Victoria leans forward. “Then why won’t you tell me? Better yet, why are you saying it’s a one time thing? If he’s a nice guy and clearly has you acting all school girly-“
“I’m not acting like that.” Samira interrupts
“You are.” Victoria cuts back in. “Why aren’t you seeing him again?”
Samira steps back, examining the neck, in the mirror before exhaling deeply.
“It’s just complicated.” Samira shrugs like that solves anything.
“Why? Does he have a girlfriend or something?”
“No Vic—“
“Military?”
“Huh? Vic—“
“Do we know him?”
Suddenly there is a hand on Victoria’s mouth and Samira is staring at her with her soft, yet stern eyes.
“Victoria. I love you. But no more.” Samira shakes her head, letting her hand drop. “It’s really nothing.”
“Okay.” Victoria backs off. “Fine. I’ll drop it.”
“Thank you.” Samira sighs. “Okay, let’s start the day!”
The entire shift, Victoria watches her friends like a hawk. But there’s nothing, no more tells, no more subtle hints, just complete avoidance of what happened.
She’s making it so obvious, because she’s not doing anything. Vic thinks as the day ends, chewing on the edge of the pen as she watches Samira chit chat with a patient. There is more to this, if only she could-
“Don’t tell me you’re eating that for dinner.” The joke comes from behind Vic, that familiar voice and tone that always seems to bother her about charting. “That’s me checking in, by the way.”
“Hi, Dr. Abbot.” Victoria greets, dropping her pen but not her gaze as she returns back to her charts. “What’s new with you?”
“Nothing.” The night shift attending shrugs. “What about you kiddo?”
“I’m solving a mystery.” Victoria mumbles under her breath, but loud enough for Dr. Abbot to hear it.
“Sounds fun.” He says, clapping his hands together before he makes his exit. “Let me know when you solve it.”
“Trust me.” Vic says more to herself as Abbot walks away. “I will.”
And that’s only how it starts.
I have a headcanon that Jack is too shy and nervous to tell Samira how therapy has helped him heal enough from his wife’s passing to ask her out, so instead he takes his ring off and waits till she notices..because of course she will.
Every chance he sees her he subconsciously messes with the empty space on his finger ,hoping she sees. In-between the small glances at her while he and that man Robby discuss handoffs, he’ll say a hello or goodbye, fully turning his body towards her.
Every chance he gets he waves his hand in her eyesight, thinking just maybe she’ll say something. Running his fingers through his hair, over his scrub shirt, even tapping his fingers along the desk as of it were a piano.
The final straw… he goes for a high-five with her (because he’s awkward Jack Abbott) and nearly misses but then recovers by holding her hand ever so gently in his grasp. Hoping his larger hands wrapped around her smaller more precise ones will finally get her to mention it!
She looks down at their joined hands in silence, heart beating faster, her doe eyes meet his hopeful ones as a smile brightens up her face, his hands give hers a gentle squeeze…
“Dr Abbot?”
“Samira?” (Because of course he calls her Samira, he loves her, hello??)
“You took..”
“Yes,I took off my ring!!” He exclaims, cheeks reddening.
Samira can’t help the small laugh bubbling in her chest, she wants to let it free but doesn’t want to embarrass him any further.
“Can I have my hand back now,Jack?” She whispers, the eyes of their colleagues are now watching.
“Will you go on a date with me Samira Mohan?” He ignores her question.
“Can a girl have her hand back?” She smiles, eyes full of adoration.
“Can a man have both?” Jack quips. Before walking down the hall, leading her to the locker room as they ignore the whoops and cheers of their colleagues and friends.
*I haven’t written in AGES,forgive me if this was garbage and also the mistakes. I have not proofread this I am simply just typing the nonsense in my head k bye. *
Mohabbot but they have a family is really speaking to me!! Like the urge to write about their normal life brings me so much comfort. Like what does their household look like? what do holidays look like? what is the families favorite dinner? what kids have jack or samira traits? I just want all the mundane stuff, from the planning of Halloween costumes, to the days before winter break and the way the kids are excited for beach days. All of that is addicting to me. I need to start writing.
