As a thirst trap idea of my face I take getting the eyes in focus vs say my lips? I assume that people who see my thirst trap pics would be looking at my eyes for a story.

that’s a creative choice that’s entirely up to you!

in that autostraddle thirst trap post, someone in the comments mentioned we should have the camera focus on the eyes if we are doing shots of our face. Is that really true?

I haven’t seen the comment but as a general rule yeah - if the eyes are soft the picture looks soft. Also because of how depth of field works, the eyes generally allow for enough focus of the whole face

if I’m shooting a traditional portrait I check focus on the eyes

also rules are meant to be broken etc live your life take photos how you want to
