In the 60′s the Catholic church removed the requirement for women to wear veils to mass or in the sanctuary. I, having been raised Catholic in the 70′s, never wore a veil or hat to church. I am trying to decide...as it were....to veil or not to veil (har har). That is the question. :D
On one website you see that someone studied the scriptures (2 Corinthians) and believes that Paul’s words saying that women should cover their head remain applicable today. This person has a right to their opinion and beliefs. However, if they are saying that Catholics that do not veil for mass are not following scripture, then it certainly can be inferred that the Church herself is not following scripture. So.....there’s that. A bump in the logic, for me anyway.
On another website there are those that feel that the Church guides her parishioners, and that requirements removed are really a blessing to her members, and that to do it anyway can be misconstrued by others in the mass. You know, like when Peter would not eat with gentiles when his jewish friends came to town; but, not nearly as pious or, for that matter, as harmful.
And, not to be left out, if you ask my Auntie whether or not to veil (and you may infer that I did just that) she will tell you that only those that were around when it was required still do it and so, no....don’t wear the veil. She also said, “When I see a woman with her veil I think, ‘she’s really religious and pious and holy....then there’s the rest of us.’” I do love Auntie!

I have exams at the end of the month. It’s a study day. All day. Outside my office. It’s too lovely to stay inside cramming for my test! 😒 But I’ve got to study!!
