Internet Marketing Mistakes Can Be Avoided
It's all too common to start off with internet marketing lacking any real plan. For those who do have some kind of business background, there is still a learning curve with internet marketing that often poses a real challenge. The fact is, doing business online is not quite like anything you might have done offline. While you make cold calls to prospects and try to close sales in person in offline marketing, here lead generation happens through little opt-in boxes and squeeze pages.
When it comes to internet marketing, your lifeblood is traffic; you can get free traffic or pay for it, but you can't survive without it. In other words, you may know that Google Adwords is used for advertising but not know how to use it. You can see some of the same fundamental ideas operating in internet marketing as in other, older types of marketing; however, once you get online you have to learn a whole new bag of tricks. This, sadly, sets the stage for most people who get into internet marketing to not really know what they are doing and fail at it. Many people get caught up in the impressive statistics of how many millions of people use the internet and think that this should mean making money online is a piece of cake. However, this is far from true, as you are still required to put in the hard work and effort needed to build a business.
One commonly seen mistake by most marketers is failing to build a list of subscribers. You could be running your online business for years but if you don't have a list, you aren't really building a long term business. The smartest thing you can do is start on your list. If you do, you'll make more money from more sales. You'll be able to make money on back-end offers, and you'll be able to make future sales to the same people.
One other common error made by internet marketing newbies is to get themselves subscribed to many different marketing newsletters and find themselves exposed to hundreds of ideas and systems all at once. This just gets them overwhelmed and confused. Slowly their inbox overflows with information on various online marketing sub-topics that explain strategies, methods, tactics, etc. Even if a lot of the information is great, having too much of it makes action impossible.
The best thing to do in this case is to cut back on the number of lists you're on; stay on the few that you think are most helpful and unsubscribe from the others. It's important to shift your focus from collecting information to taking action on a few realistic plans. The more action you take, the more confident you'll get about this business. It's inevitable that you will stumble at certain times, but just keep at it and success will be yours.
Internet marketing success hinges so much on getting into it and doing it over and over. Without this mindset you slowly enter into the state of 'analysis paralysis'. This is recognizable by no action and all thinking. The real solution is get ideas and put them into action right away. Forget failure. If you refuse to take any risks, then you won't move forward.
