Those who knew Phoenix Coldon, 23, described her as compassionate and strong-willed. When she was 12-years-old, she competed - and won awards at - a national fencing competition in Iowa. When her competitors found out her age, they couldn’t quite believe how talented she was. Phoenix and her family lived in the suburbs of North Saint Louis County in Spanish Lake and Phoenix attended the University of Missouri. She was well read, deeply religious and longed to fit in wherever she went, according to her parents.
At around 3pm on the 18th of December, 2011, Phoenix got into her vehicle and drove away from her home. She was scheduled to come back in a few hours but when she didn’t return, her concreted parents reported her missing. However, an officer told them that Phoenix was an adult and didn’t need to alert her parents if she was going somewhere for an extended period. Her parents then contacted local media in the hopes they they would run the story and get the word out that their daughter was missing. Initially, they were advised that news stations had to adhere to local law enforcement policies and procedures and refused to run the story unless the police requested their help. Eventually, Fox 2 News ran the story.
Two weeks later, Phoenix’s abandoned car was discovered at the corner of 9th and Saint Clair in East Saint Louis. The door was open and her car keys were still in the ignition with the engine running. Since Phoenix vanished, her parents have discovered that she had been staying in her apartment with a boyfriend until she moved back home the year before her disappearance. The boyfriend still lives in the area but hasn’t been in contact with Phoenix’s family. However, St. Louis County Detective Robert Vogel said that he isn’t a suspect. Her parents have wondered whether the boyfriend got her involved with unsavoury people.
To this day, Phoenix Coldon still remains missing. Her family have been disappointed by what they believe to be a lack of effort by police and local media. They have paid a private investigator thousands of dollars to follow leads. Their home has fallen into foreclosure as they have used their mortgage money to fund their own search efforts. “The media wouldn’t give us the time of day, but if Phoenix looked like Natalee Holloway, we wouldn’t have had this problem,” said her mother.
If you have any information about the disappearance of Phoenix Coldon, please call 314-615-6606.
Ten years have passed since the disturbing murder of Nancy Bochicchio and her 7-year-old daughter, Joey.
Nancy was a single mother. She had Joey much later in her life. Maybe that’s why the mother daughter duo were inseparable. One would rarely be seen without the other unless Joey wasat school. Although she was just 7-years-old, Joey was said to be mature beyond her years. “Joey was Nancy. That was her mold. They weren’t even like mother and daughter, they were like sisters,” said Timothy McCurdy, a family friend.
It was the 12th of December, 2007, and the duo were at Town Center in Boca Raton, Florida. It was just several days before Joey’s 8th birthday and her mum had planned a big party at home with 25 of her friends from school. On that fateful afternoon, they went to the mall at around 2PM. They are seen around an hour later leaving the mall. Just minutes later, Nancy places a 911 call; it immediately hung up, however. The 911 operator called her back but there was no answer.
After the phone call, Nancy is spotted on CCTV lifting money out of an ATM behind the mall. This is the last ever sighting of Nancy.
Later on that night, shortly before midnight, a mall security guard noticed that a car was still sitting in the car park. As he approached the car, he was met by a grim scene: both Nancy and Joey are both in the back seat, shot dead. They had both been bound with handcuffs, duct tape and zip ties and they were wearing goggled with black cloth in front of the lenses, rendering them unable to see.
Within hours, Nancy’s phone and credit cards were found in Miami. Additionally, investigators determined that the zip ties and duct tape had also been purchased in Miami.
Police determined that the killer was the same man who carried out another crime just months earlier when a woman and her 2-year-old son were carjacked at gunpoint. She too was forced to lift money from an ATM and was tied up with similar peculiarities. However, the kidnapper thankfully let these victims live. The woman described the perpetrator as around 6 feet tall with a long brown ponytail. She said he was wearing driving gloves and a cap and glasses.
In each case, he only managed to steal around $500. “That’s a lot of work to put in for a $500 financial gain. There’s almost certainly some other motive or rationale for why he did these things, more on a psychological level than financial level,” said an officer.
As the ten year anniversary of their murders approached, Boca Raton police asked anybody with any information to please come forward. They posted a video summarising the crime on their facebook in the hopes that it could refresh the public’s memory. A $400,000 reward for any information leading to the perpetrator has been offered.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Scott Hanley at 561-338-1344 or Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 800-458-TIPS (8477).

I have decided on a new constellation. I call it The Bees. If you look up at the night sky and see all those sparkly dots, congratulations. You see The Bees. I have just made astrology 10000x easier, you’re welcome.

rest in peace 💛💛
it makes my mind hurt just thinking about the fact that you can simply be out; dining at a waffle house, or getting through your work hours and be shot and then die. Doing something mundane on a day that’s just like the rest and then - bang - you’re dead. It’s insane.
RIP to these beautiful souls who were taken way too soon.
The effects so far of SESTA / FOSTA
Some highlights of the SESTA / FOSTA bill:
It’s dubbed the “anti-trafficking” bill for the internet, but it’s really an anti-sex sledgehammer. The bill removes protection for websites under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, and makes sites and services liable for hosting what it very, very loosely defines as sex trafficking and “prostitution” content. FOSTA-SESTA puts into law that sex work and sex trafficking are the same thing, and makes discussion and advertising part of the crime. Its blurry interpretation of sex and commerce, as well as the bill’s illogical, incorrect conflation of sex trafficking and sex work is straight out of a bad movie.
If only the politicians who voted this Morality in Media (NCOSE) mess into law had fact-checked it with Freedom Network USA, “the largest coalition of experts and advocates providing direct services to to survivors of human trafficking in the U.S.” Freedom Network unequivocally states that protecting the rights of sex workers, and not conflating them with trafficking victims, is critical to the prevention of trafficking. They also have the data to back up the fact that “more people are trafficked into labor sectors than into commercial sex.”

*steps onto soapbox*
‘Sex work’ and ‘sex trafficking’
ARE 👏 NOT 👏 SYNONYMS 👏
Maybe if we weren’t completely inept in this country about issues of consent, our lawmakers could recognize the difference between legitimate business - fueled by mutual consent and structured around the principles of supply and demand - and outright exploitation. I
sn’t limiting government interference on private business supposed to be something that conservatives value?
Conservatives can’t in good conscience back anything that allows women autonomy over their own bodies. Silly me.
By the by:
The Technology and Marketing Law Blog wrote that there’s no mistaking that FOSTA-SESTA violates the First Amendment; it plainly stated that “this statute implicates constitutionally protected speech.”
Stop SESTA

ohhh i DEEPLY regret teaching my cat how to talk
Oh? Would you elaborate?
okay so one night like a week or two ago kurt was meowing at me and one of the meows sounded like he was saying “hewwo” so since then I started saying “hewwo” instead of meowing back at him (like I do with all his cat sounds, naturally) and slowly his meows evolved into something vaguely “hewwo”like with the one or two True and Powerful Hewwo’s a day
but now that you have backstory I was just standing in my kitchen making rice, everythings dead silent, and suddenly this fucking “HEWWO??” echoes through the whole apartment and it almost killed me
