I just want to remind every intl kpop fan out there that we honestly do not get to think we’re somehow entitled to English subtitles in any kpop related videos. We are not. It’s a full ass job that people should absolutely never do for free, since that diminishes the value of that work. Translators are not paid shit because everyone thinks their job is easy and because technically “anyone could do it” with no qualifications. We do not get to walk over them and demand subtitles just because we think we’re an important source of income to kpop idols or whatever.
Like you have three equally valuable options here you could do instead of being a whiny dumbo who thinks the world should revolve around English-speaking people:
1) LEARN KOREAN. Like. Seriously. Learn it just like me and literally everyone else. Idols have absolutely no reason to start speaking English even IF they want you to be their fan too. Everything they ever do is a bonus. Them speaking English? A bonus. Them choosing to become an idol in the first place? A bonus. Them existing? A bonus. They don’t owe us shit, nor do their translators, or any one fan providing those translations for free.
2) Maybe pay for someone to do it for you? Like… hire someone to translate those videos? That’s like… a very healthy, plausible option you could do.
3) Enjoy whatever content your idols choose to upload for you and stop making demands. Translators and fans will provide subtitles to most videos at some point. Sit back and wait, and be thankful for whatever content you got to see.
