Quick tip for those who post art in Twitter:

You can force Twitter to post the “raw” quality of your pics by adding one (1) pixel of transparency in the image.

Twitter uses some algorithm to compress images into .jpg, but it cannot do that if there’s transparency involved in the image, forcing it to be .png in its full quality. Literally one singular pixel ANYWHERE counts for this, it can be on a corner if you don’t want it to be bothersome.

Figured some folks might be interested in this, considering Tumblr no longer supports the _raw trick.

For the sake of example instead of hearsay, I’ve posted a comparison in my Twitter here, but will also explain here. All images are 2000x2000px versions of my logo you can see on the top left of this post:

Here’s the original image without a background, in its original form. Notice the .png on the filename title.

Here’s the image with a white background. You can see Twitter turned it into a .jpg and youcan see compression artifacts surrounding it.

Here’s the image with a white background, but one pixel edged off. Notice the .png back on the filename and the retaining of quality from the first picture compared to the compression from the second.

All it took was a simple thing:

Nothing else, nothing more. It retains the original quality as you posted it, isn’t very bothersome and can be easily filled up if someone finds it.

Since Tumblr removed the _raw image trick from availability, this is a good way to share high quality, high resolution pictures again with the world.

We at Piczel.tv are sad to see Tumblr’s stance against NSFW artists, and would like to offer up our services as an alternative to Tumblr’s arbitrary shadowbans, deletions, and general stupidity.

We’re happy to host adult artists who are looking for a new place to call home, and are planning a few key upgrades and features. 

Effectively immediately though, our gallery upload size restriction has been removed, to be likely raised to 10MB in the near future for non-premium users. As always, we support image sets, and don’t compress anything. Firstly, for those that have been using tumblr as a portfolio, you’ll need a way to download all of your art, if you don’t have backups somewhere else. We are planning a tool for Piczel.tv that will import zip files full of images, including titles and descriptions if we are able. Second, we’re planning the following upgrades to piczel in the coming weeks: 1. Bulk upload/import to your piczel.tv gallery 2. Gallery UI cleanup and improvements 3. Gallery performance improvements 4. Gallery comments with in line image and custom emote support 5. Site-wide PMs (in the vein of tumblr asks, but better) 6. Archive button for your piczel account Don’t forget to follow us on twitter, we may be deleted on the 17th with everyone else. How have you been, macho? How has life been treating you? Anything we, your followers, can do to make your day better?

Life has been… well, to be honest, kinda shitty, but that’s what happens when one’s mother has cancer. The biggest issue in this is my lack of funds, and so I’ve decided that I should offer commissions to help make ends meet The only problem I’ve got is figuring out what the pricing should be. Here’s what I’m thinking; these prices are for each individual character and the details thereof.

Characters: Portrait (head and shoulders): $5“Bust” (head to hips, arms included): $10Full body: $15

Color:Lineart: +$0Grayscale/B&W (done with either ink or pencil): +$3Color (either colored pencils or brush pens): +$5

Other:Simple grayscale/B&W background: +$5Simple colored background: +$10Detailed background: +$15NSFW: +$10 per NSFW characterKinks/fetishes: +$10 per kink/fetish (there are some fetishes I won’t draw, this aspect will be discussed privately)

I have some bare minimums in terms of what I deliver, as a note. Unless asked otherwise, any characters and objects will be inked lineart. As well, a splash of either gray, black, or other color will be put just behind the characters to allow for a sense of depth, which may also be excluded on demand. Seeing as I do traditional art, one can also buy the physical copy of the commission for the same price as the digital copy, plus the costs involving shipping. I will also draw pretty much any character you wish from any fandom, either on-model or otherwise, but if it’s an OC or a fandom with which I’m unfamiliar, I would like some references. My work will take some time, but I will deliver on it, and will go over WIPs with you as I go along.

If you, any artists, or anyone you know who buys commissions thinks I should change the prices, don’t hesitate to tell me.

- What weird fetishes wont you do? Scat, Gore, Vore… Let’s keep it mostly-ish vanilla. 

- Do you do original characters? I do! Reference sheets are encouraged if you decide to go for that. And also a brief explanation of who they are and what their personality is like. I would love to be faithful to the design.

- What kind of stuff do you draw? Mostly humanoids. I think female figures, armors and warframes are my specialty!
