Setting: Your pet is on the verge of passing away. You decide to tell your new boyfriend, Chris Redfield, as you have nowhere else to go. No one else to turn to.

You feel like an idiot for bothering him, especially with a problem that feels infinitesimal compared to all of his. Chopping years off of your life, just to dedicate them to fighting BOWs, definitely caused your particular problem to feel smaller than a dust speck.
But with no one else to turn to, you knew what you had to do. You had to pull him aside, for just a few minutes. Or else the world will cave in on you. What’s left of you is rapidly falling apart, no matter how hard you try to move on, no matter how strong you try to be.
Your friend is leaving, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
The man, the myth, the legend, was the perfect one to talk to. While some people would feel as though you’re being an idiot, or they simply just wouldn’t care, Chris is the most loving, warmest companion you could ever hope for. Plus, he’s all too familiar with death. He knows it like the back of his favorite gun.
So hopefully you aren’t making a mistake for telling him what’s on your mind.
Making the decision to tell him was the best decision you could have made. He listens to you intently, keeping you close in the warmest, softest embrace you’ve ever felt. You fall apart like the leaves on the wind in his arms, telling him about how your friend is crumbling right before your very eyes, but he welcomes your thoughts and voice like the coming of dawn. If there’s anything he hates, it’s the pain in your eyes and voice. “Thanks for sharing all of that with me, Y/N,” he tells you, wiping away some of your tears.
“I know how hard that must’ve been for you.” And he means sincere, kind and patient.
He asks if there’s anything you could do to save him. Not to trick you into feeling guilty over your friend’s condition-he looks as though your pet is also his friend, and he’s genuinely heartbroken by the news.
After you assure him there’s not a single solution left, you begin to cry again. “I won’t ever get to hold him/her again,” you laugh through your tears, the sound bittersweet, weighed down by heartache.
Chris settles his forehead against yours, softly telling you how sorry he is. “I know this may be the last thing you want to hear,” he tells you. “And I don’t feel like I have enough credibility to tell you this, but…”
“Your friend won’t ever leave you. You can count on that.”
He offers to give your friend a proper send-off. You smile at the thought of your old friend getting a military send-off.
(meanwhile re7 chris would just be like ‘suck it up, soldier, you’ll be alright’ and would just walk off LOL)

Alright, please kindly sit down and check your facts.
If Chris hadn’t insisted on moving forward to Miranda’s lab even after his squad mate suggested to blow the place right away, Mia would die in that cell.
If Chris wasn’t with Ethan and hadn’t had the osprey waiting for them at the end, Rose and Mia wouldn’t be able to reunite and survive.
If Chris hadn’t risked his life going down that cave to plant the N2 explosive, the Winterses would all be consumed by the megamycete. All of Ethan’s efforts to save Rose would all go to waste in the end.
Also, please let this one really sink in.
If Chris and his team hadn’t worked tirelessly and managed to figure out Miranda’s plan in the first place, she would succeed in using Rose and then dispose of Ethan and Mia, uninterrupted. Remember how Ethan wasn’t even aware that Miranda took his wife’s place? It’d be a breeze to execute her plan without Chris’s interference.
Do you get it now?
Without Chris, Ethan wouldn’t be the only one who ends up dead. All of the Winters family would be gone as well.
