- Objects (Lancer, Nubert, basically every single enemy darkner. Can differ pretty wildly, I could divide it up more but ya. Single piece, un-complex objects)

- “Concepts” (Stuff like the Addisons, Weather Duo, etc. i imagine they’re Or separate on a VHS tape or flash drive or something but they’re pretty reliant on specific electronic darkners if that makes sense)

wouldn’t it be really cute if Susie asked to bring Ralsei’s object to the festival, even if he can’t physically be there? Darkners are shown to have memory outside of dark worlds, so it would genuinely be possible and genuinely super sweet for Susie to disregard ralsei’s feelings of being lesser than the lightners and give him the experience of visiting it- even if he wouldn’t directly be able to communicate his feelings directly it would be such a sweet display of Susie’s genuine care for her friend in a similar way to that one scene of Tenna in the rain………….. I just want them all to be happy

deltarune spoilers!!!!!!!!!!!!! Specifically some attempts at reconstructing the sprite of Asriel

Hi. I don’t post much on this blog but wanted to share something that I came up with some friends while discussing chapter 3

So. During Tenna’s flashback, you can notably see both Dess and Asriel sitting by the tv.

Because these are the only sprites of the two, I attempted to mishmash both this and the outfit that Susie wears in chapter 4 to create hopefully the most accurate silhouette of what Asriel actually looked like(and then drew in the blanks myself):

Because Asriel is said to look a lot like Ralsei, I also referenced his face to finish off the sprite! Though it is fanon, the brown sprite with the ? should actually be accurate to what Asriel actually looks like, which is fun! Yay!

OK DELTARUNE CHAPTER 3 SPOILERS but i'm already coming up with uh..i guess it's a headcanon? ANYWAYS proceed with caution.

OK SO obviously, tenna & spamton do know each other in some capacity for sure. i still have no clue how but for some reason, spamton specifically (& i guess seam kind of too?) knows people from various other dark worlds.

from the vibes i get, i think they totally worked together during spamton's "big shot" era. & they were probably quite close (haven't decided if i like to think of it as a yaoiful thing or like. tenna being an older brother figure or something.) i imagine that tenna has a lot more experience with "fame" or whatever, especially in the past since CRTs like tenna are quite old, an idea that is addressed in game.

also, this is backed up by tenna saying someone (i assume spamton based on context) was going to teach him how newer technology works & he cried about not understanding emails LOL

BUT LIKE. taking all this into consideration, my personal headcanon (which i think is super cute :^)) is that tenna met spamton...somehow when he first started making it big & they sort of worked together! tenna would do the regular TV programs & shows & then spamton would appear in like...the TV ads :^) & i think tenna would probably have to teach spamton how to present on television & things like that since he's new to it &, in return, i think spamton promised to teach tenna about the newer tech in the cyber world. but tenna feels betrayed because spamton just sort of...disappeared. from his perspective, he probably had no idea about spamton being evicted & forced to live in the dumpster. so now tenna feels abandoned & confused by the sudden loss of his business partner. & i think he personifies his fear of abandonment as spamton because of this (like the "my biggest hater" thing in the susiezilla game.)

from spamton's point of view, he might feel betrayed (as we see from the way he talks about tenna in the sweepstakes) because tenna- much like the addisons- didn't really bother to help or look for spamton when he disappeared. he lost everyone all at once. tenna was one of the last people he had left since the addisons stopped talking to spamton when he first became successful. it explains the way he talks about mike too. (omg. this wasn't an original part of the theory but what if spamton feel like mike replaced him or he feels jealous of his dynamic with tenna or something :^O??? just an extra angsty cherry on top.) despite how irrational it is, since spamton never really made it clear what was going on with him & his "helper" on the phone, he still wishes somebody would've noticed & cared enough to help him out. maybe just subconsciously. i think he hides his feelings about it though anger & an unforgiving attitude towards the people he thought he could trust. ogufhfh

there's not a whole lot of merit to this, but a detail i noticed almost immediately was the tenna's suit has the same colors as spamton's during his big shot era! (as seen in this piece of fangamer merch, he is wearing a red suit with a yellow tie.) & i think this supports the idea that they were a duo at some point & i bet tenna (since he likes to live in the past) never changed his outfit. but omg imagine if they matched suits when they were working together ISN'T THAT SO CUUUUTE??? sorry i'm really normal about this.

Hypnospace Outlaw is probably my favorite fictionalized internet. This is, partially, because it is genuinely just an entire fictional corner of the late-90s web in all its Web 1.0 glory, rendered in incredible detail. But maybe more importantly, it's filled with genuine love for most of the people it portrays, from confused old people to edgy teenagers getting in online slapfights to super-nerds mad enough at The Man to build their own system (as much as you can when you're still on The Man's servers, because of the scope of the game).

It would be so easy for a game about alternate universe Geocities to be extremely mean-spirited. And Hypnospace can make its characters into jokes, at times, but it doesn't feel like there's serious disdain for these people (with a few notable and IMO deserved exceptions), and especially not for their real life counterparts. They can be silly because people are silly sometimes, and even characters that seem silly at first often have a genuine side you can find with a little reading. Carl is a boomer and his page is badly made, but he clearly loved his wife dearly and misses her every day. All of these people are part of a community that brought a lot of joy to the world, enough for people decades later to go hunting for rare hardware models to try to archive it.

It's so common for online comedy, especially about the internet, to be mean. To view its subjects as essentially a pack of morons that we'd all be better off without. Hypnospace portrays a lot of people that usually get that treatment and it goes out of its way to humanize them.

Exactly. All the characters feel like… people, and feel that’s partly because of the medium of webpage archives. Because we don’t directly interact with them, they feel just as real as actual internet users. They have hobbies! Interests! Friends! They want to find like-minded people to interact with, they want to make their page look nice, etc etc, they react to being reported by the Enforcer, we see firsthand the effect they have on the people in their community. Because of their depth, and because of the limits that HS is emulating, after long enough, they don’t feel like characters, but instead a lively internet community that breathes and grows. Even if you don’t directly speak with them, they feel like… people.

Which makes the Mindcrash and its consequences so much heavier. Really great stuff
