Bit of a rant/Opinion on Cobra Kai and the ending:
So, I keep seeing people on here nit picking the ending, and I think they are missing the point of the show. Now, I'm not the writers so obviously, I don't know anything with 100% certainty, but here's my unfiltered opinion.
I disagree that only Daniel had sacrificed on his end. The point wasn't for either of them to "sacrifice" anything necessarily. The point was that they both recognized that there isn't only one right way to do things. As much as I absolutely LOVE the Karate Kid movies, it is unrealistic for one person (Mr. Miyagi) to hold all the right answers about everything. I believe the show was trying to touch on the fact that no one is right about everything because humans are imperfect creatures and even if you think your way is the best, that's not always the case. The point is that Daniel learns that sometimes it's okay to strike first, and Johnny learns that always striking first and going from 0-100 when it's uncalled for leads to a lot of unnecessary conflict and trouble. At the end of everything they both use what they've learned from each other and even though they know they'll never 100% agree with one another's fighting styles, they grow to develop a strong respect for each other's techniques because they understand. Daniel helped Johnny take back Cobra Kai because he knew that he could trust him to run it the right way, free of abuse and manipulation. Everyone saying that Johnny didn't have to give up anything or that he didn't learn anything have missed the whole point.
