#the monkees ! :D #i was just thinking about the 90s special #like do not separate the tv show versions or they’ll start making distressed mewling sounds and the michael one will start to panic #those are his babies….#at least they all get to elevate to wherever the hell they go after they end the tv show all together so they can keep being gay little #Ideas from the mind of man which is Ideas from the Infinite Mind of God because michael didn’t believe in death and is a freak girl #because ideas live on whether we like it or not and she got to give her tv show counterpart she spent decades running away from and being #ashamed of a nice sweet goodbye but also a kind of merging with and acceptance of #it’s crazy they trusted him to write that special. like i know he’s the resident songwriter but girlie CANNOT pace anything long form #which to be fair is hard and don’t get my wrong i LOVE her disjointed spiritual rambles that are the 90s special and neftoon zamora #but that aired on tv and that makes me giggle

#i like rewinded to hear his stupid little ‘crash’ and it wasn’t there #looks like they fixed it for the aired tv version cause this was from the full episode with commercials that the person uploaded from a #home recording #wow #i like that the Crash! still exists someone (probably mike) thought it was funny they were probably giggling #interesting to see that placeholder but i had no idea it got an actual crash sound ??!!??#we have this but we don’t have the full cut of head (1968) 😔 lol

i know i’ve said it eight million times but i wish the full original cut of head still existed somewhere accessibly… like they cut out micky’s monologue that gives any context for the whole thing and is important they got rid of satyr micky (even though FUCK YOU BOB RAFELSON) and clown peter…. i just want to see it…. they cut out mike being gay about a man’s fist and his “confidence” to beat fear thing that totally hits with his later stuff like the prison…. ough….. my slop they cut out and threw away my slop….. the tapes are probably just gone now but it’s lowkey the reason i will always prefer 33 1/3 because head (while VERY weird) lacks the fun in the weirdness and it’s like… the whole second half past the birthday party and do i have to do this all over again is kind of a drag to me it stresses me out…….

also obligatory FUCK YOU to bob rafelson ! being like “oh yeah here’s a movie to free the monkees from their public image” when it was really not on. their terms they were given no credit they were lowkey drowned on set anyway ill shut up
