Win at EIFF
We are delighted to say that we picked up an award at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2014. The award for 'Outstanding Individual Contribution to Short Film' was given to the screenwriting and direction of 'Monkey Love Experiments' - That's quite a mouthful.

At long long last… Here's our trailer for 'Monkey Love Experiments'

We haven't anything posted for a while... but we've been very busy.
Everything is shot, and everything is stuck together. We're have the wonderful David Kamp scoring & sound designing our film, something that we are delighted about.
The images above show something I feel is worth communicating about.
The film was always a collaboration between us, where we could play to our individual strengths, yet still be challenged by the technical difficulties of merging live-action with stop-frame animation in a convincing and meaningful way.
The film is set in the 1960's, so we conformed to a 4:3 frame, letter-boxed like some of the above images. He's a monkey who is boxed in, but dreams of reaching the moon. We've made the letter-box bars contort throughout the film at key moments to describe his desire. We find ourselves viewing full widescreen, and are squeezed into a tight square at one point, to communicate a sort of claustrophobia.
This is the side of filmmaking which really excites us; playing with the form. We believe the medium & form in which you make something should support its story and/or message, run in parallel with it, and help to resolve it in some way. The film would work without this element, but don't think it would be as effective. And that's what we're trying to do - effectively communicate something to an audience.
The film is so close... Just a couple final steps left.

Shooting continues with Monkey Love. Me and WIl locked in a dark room hold onto our sanity by a thread. Gandhi becomes more alive every day. We're about half way through now, with 5 about weeks to go. Yes, this is quite a dull post. he ho. there you go. A
