But omg uhh it’s been so long since i’ve done any of those I actually deleted most if not all of them a while back lmao. But since I got back into writing again recently I figured I might as well give this a (love) shot, so thanks for the prompt~~
everything we know is just a story:
The room was quiet, and for the first time that week, so was his mind. No echoes of laughter filled his ears, and the invigorating smell of freshly rained-on grass was but a memory. It could have happened only moments earlier, or it may have been decades since he’d frolicked in the forest with his friends. There was really no way to know. Not now, at least.
Currently, the snow swirled with little interest in gravity, fluttering down in wide sweeps before curling back up, caught in the breeze. From his window, the white powder appeared to dance lazily, though the grey backdrop was thick enough to block out the view of the gardens entirely. He knew that it was his perspective, high above on the third floor, that crafted the illusion of laziness in the snow’s trajectory. Had he gone outside he would have felt the silver tufts cling to his skin suffocatingly and the winds mock him in harsh protest of his presence. In the end, he supposed, it really did only depend on one’s perspective.
The leisurely snow reminded him of leaves. Leaves of cinnamon had spun as they floated downward, and he made sure to remember the details of the afternoon as slowly as possible, if only to revel in it longer.
They had lain beneath the overarching maple tree, watching side-by-side as the burning embers drifted toward them. The conversation undulated as they continued enjoying the cool autumn day, peaking in bubbles of laughter before simmering down in secretive whispers, rolling like the waves of an ocean. It had been where he’d first said ‘I love you’, and first heard it in kind. Of course, the first wasn’t really the first, but it was one of them. They were all so the same, and yet all so different.
He made sure to treasure each separately.
No one could tell him why it had happened, they didn’t even believe it had really happened, and he almost wished he could be as oblivious. Once the fog cleared though, it never came back. He had seen the ephemeral, and yet infinite, gardens beyond the snow. No amount of convincing that there were flakes of white softness in front of his window would stop him knowing the exact placement of each stem and curve of every petal in that garden. It was his, after all. Theirs. He just didn’t know when they’d get the chance to expand it. Or if that would even happen again, now he knew.
His remembrance surely changed things; fate’s plan, for one. Unless… that was also part of the plan. Perhaps in the strange building he now resided lay the clue for him to find his other half. If so, it was a cruel joke by whoever made such decisions. To give him Sight, only to plan to take it back again before the next cycle.
A strained muscle pulled the corner of his lip up into a morbid attempt at a smile. These thoughts he toyed with were his only amusement in the facility, but also his only source of unrest. It was harrowing that his tether to sanity was also unraveling him into madness.
Maybe none of it had happened, after all.
“Jongin.”
The soft voice was wiped of any identity – no sociability in the tone, only industrialized sympathy that left him feeling more broken than on the way to being mended – nevertheless, he turned from the window, schooling his expression back to a neutral one as he stared at the plain woman in a grey smock. Her eyes were pitless, and he thought to himself, not for the first time, that maybe they had the roles reversed. He may be crazy, but at least he had hope.
“There’s someone in the main room here to see you.”
And that hope would dissipate the snow, and lead him to his savior.
Warnings: slight description of dead body, mild cursing, references to drug/alcohol
Summary: Kyungsoo had never been arrested before, or even recieved something as mundane as a parking ticket. Needless to say, becoming a prime suspect in a murder investigation was not exactly what he’d expected for himself. But, death aside, it didn’t actually turn out to be quite as bad as he’d initially thought.
