pros of having a lemon tree at your desk:
-smells nice for a couple of weeks
-reduces lemon-related expenses
cons of having a lemon tree at your desk:
Today makes one year since FreeSO shut down. How are you holding up?
blackjack.
Hey Tim! I haven't really heard from you since FreeSO shut down in December, I hope you're doing alright.
I’ve had nothing left to live for since.
fun fact: if you’re suspended on twitch and the email with the details of your suspension doesn’t go through, and then you ask “hey what happened?” in the appeals portal, that counts as your sole appeal, and you don’t get a second.
anyway, see you guys sometime in December.
Hope you're doing okay. Miss you on FreeSO.
it’s whatever. my car got towed on monday. it’s also whatever.
Do you have a Discord server?!
I don’t use Discord.
Please do one last FreeSO stream. I'll do anything. I beg of you.
twitch banned my second account for a month for being too overtly suicidal in the FreeSO text to speech, so I don’t really know if I’m allowed to at this point. sorry, rookie mistake on my end.
FreeSO is closing December 8th. You should consider having a "celebration of life" stream to send it off, since you were one of the biggest forces that made FreeSO so popular. We're all really bummed. :(
dang, that’s really upsetting honestly. had a lot of fun with that thing. we will always have the #1 casino.
I did more focaccia. I also took an Ambien. it’s unrelated.
this one has jammy-sorta caramelized onions on it, with cherry tomatoes I dehydrated to make them less wet and more umami, and some roasted garlic mixed into the dough so it doesn’t get too burnt like last time.
unfortunately I don’t think the garlic mixed very well so I think one of the slices is going to just be a garlic bomb. i’m bringing it into work tomorrow anyway so hopefully it’s someone else’s problem.
hope people think the bread tastes good and like me by extension. is this what it’s like being in your 30s? “hey I cooked some extra food and I’d like you to have it?” 20s me could never. 30s it is then.
oh, the bread. I did eat some. it was pretty good. remember to put the tomatoes not too far down in the dough so they don’t just turn into hot wet delaminating orbs. you can get away with that for the olives, but they’re oily. everyone is happy to see an unexpected olive. i’ve never been mad at an olive.
I even cut the olives open individually. i’m afraid of biting into a pit that cracks my teeth. that would ruin this whole burgeoning hobby, and dental care is expensive. it sucks teeth don’t regenerate. how are they supposed us with something as important as teeth? a class a year about language arts but never a class about having teeth.
oh to clarify, there was one olive that had a pit. I took it out though. you’re welcome. it’s the little things.
my colleagues eat my bread and tell me it’s good. it’s probably just a solid mediocre. two out of five Gordon Ramsays. but people keep telling me how much they enjoy it, so I’m happy to bake it. i’m not especially smart and my time management is no better than a middle schooler’s, so maybe I can’t contribute much to the big ideas, but if you’d eat my bread and tell me it’s good, I’d be happy, at least for a little while.
ok goodnight, please save me ambien.
did focaccia. was good. really good. in the delusional “what if I opened a cafe” phase of home baking.
my recent manuscript got recognized for some award, which is cool, but I gotta give a half hour talk to everyone about it, which is less cool.
they’ve got all my favorite interests.
pothos cutting in a (now empty) candle jar. a fancy candle, even. and the art is kind of cool if you can detach yourself from the fact that everything is reductive via capitalism or something and how all corporate art is made to serve a specific marketing need, and blah blah this artist’s drawing of a moose is actually not of entirely noble, nonprofit influence, and was not made specifically for the joy of creation, what’s the point, yadda yadda, but it looked by hip by indoor candle standards, so now I gave it a friend.
anyway I’m giving it away to someone so it’s not even like I have to look at it.
I wrote an outline for an invited review in a good journal. I’m writing it with my old boss who gave me the phd, so I didn’t want to disappoint him. they didn’t specify how long the outline is, so I was sure to break it into sections, subsections, give it citations, make tables. my boss would love it. I treated it like my second thesis. at least he wouldn’t think I’m an idiot.
he emailed me to say that it’s good but way too long.
Remember how somebody told you in 2017 and 2021 that they had a crush on you? I still want you to notice me, Tim senpai. :(
hello, whoever you are.
side note: I can’t believe 2021 was 3 years ago.
