Prime Minister Mark Carney may have won a minority government (thankfully!) but DO NOT FORGET that millions of people voted Conservative. I'm beyond embarrassed by a vast majority of Ontario who voted CPC -except for most GTA regions (where I reside) and of course Quebecois (ya'll literally are the backbone of this election alongside Atlantic Canada and Northern Canada).
I know everyone wants to celebrate -and yes, this is a victory in many of ways, but Carney's government is going to be more left to centre than leftist entirely -even though I voted for a liberal MP in my riding (she's amazing!) -it's an important reminder where we are, and I still think it is important to keep in mind that this fight IS NOT OVER. We must keep resisting white supremacy, xenophobia, racism, capitalist and corporate greed, and many roots of bigotry in this country.
I have seen many from Alberta especially express palpable rage and anger -those in Saskatchewan and even British Columbia which nearly went all blue too use the same rhetoric we hear from Republicans who endorse and love Donald Trump -arguably one of the worse President's to date. This is not over AT ALL -and I need more Canadians to stay vigilant becuase what happened in America can easily happen in Canada too. After President Joe Biden was elected the Democrats arguably got too comfortable while the Republicans mobilized in the handful of years to get their majority House and Senate.
I love seeing the dancing, the excitement, the celebration, but I'm also a realest and I need people to not be complacent. Because I know -so many of us know what happens when you laugh in the faces of people who have been or are being radicalized by hatred and the far right -they will undoubtedly organize and with another federal election in 4 years (unless Carney is able to swoon them) we have a whole generation of young boys here that will be eligible to vote -and who are HEAVILY right leaning because of the impact of manosphere content. And that's going to be their main demographic as they are already targeting the youth.
The Conservatives could have easily won a majority if it wasn't for Trump threatening to annex us -those who strategically voted away from the NDP mostly or who actually went out to vote (or maybe a handful who voted Liberal instead of CPC) -that's why this happened. We would have been the one's they'd be making videos of laughing about. So take this as a lesson -that you CAN NOT be complicit and that the personal is political and the political will always be personal. And that divisiveness only further draws people away from each other and is why back in January of 2025 we were basically all blue in this country.
I hope this is a time for genuine healing, of restoration, of hope, of change, or genuine care and repairing of connections and making of newer one's. It's so incredibly important to know that we need to come together many times now and continuously.

Dr. Liu also said she "believes the university [cancelled her presentation] out of fear of being pressured by the Donald Trump administration" and that it speaks to the âclimate of fearâ universities in the U.S. are now living under in which they preemptively âself-censorâ themselves to avoid retaliation. Supposed "antisemitism" is only the excuse.
Bravo, Cory Booker. Let the resistance take the momentum started by AOC and Bernie, add Cory and Chris Murphy, encourage all Democrats to speak out, and keep these fascist Republicans on their heels.
Punch back.
