[[Literally the point where Gargoyles became my favourite show.]]
A more photoshopped finished version of the earlier thing,
When young Clark first began wearing his glasses, it didn't go well. Bullied from some older kids, they didn't really like him trying to leave, and using claws for hands made it easy to hurt the poor kid! But the bullies will get what they deserve. Ever since this day, Clark steadily is left alone, fading from Constantly Bullied to Lonely over the years.
Clark + Bailey with some binary
I used Mash’s head model as a base… I don’t know anatomy, and my drawings are unlikely to keep 100% to this base, but…
The ‘teeth’ spikes are sort of like a hard cartilage. Or soft beak. …Something of that sort. The throat shows sign of the species possibly being swimmers, like otters (or crocodiles, rather), before evolving further into land.
The underlying teeth are omnivorus. I can’t draw teeth. The corners of the mouth are especially stretchy, like a dinosaur’s or snakes.
The eye is sort of triangular, and the outer eyelid is lower than the inner. Clark’s are a bit more droopy than usual, though.
A J’kon’s mane is V-shaped, sloping up from the collarbone and around the head. Longer manes are usually rather heroic.
I really liked your OC Bailey and wanted to give you some fanart :)! also thanks for answering my question :D!
and with this, Bailey has more fanart than Clark (who resides at 0 unless I forgot). Poor Clark.
Thank you so much ;w;
A note about J'kon characters:
Clark's family is weird or 'insane' to the other J'kon, and only those few who humor him even get 'named'. These 'names' are words from books he has, sort of like 'generic furry names'.
Names that Clark has or would have given out, for example:
Chai Jadetail, Ember Singefur, Gourmet Gold, Eiffel Warmheart.
The J'kon essentially 'are' what they appear: Eyes, Fur pattern, Tail tip, all make up their inner self. Their spoken language is growlish, and written is both non-existant and impossible.
It is also very rare for there to be two of any types, even Twins tend to vary in looks.
Eye Profiles: Husk / Empty Eyes
The Blank eye, a dim circle, is one of the unlucky signs, a omen of soullessness and apathy. Children born of this blank are usually considered stillborn, no matter how much they move or cry. If left to grow up, they are considered zombies.
Clark (inner circle, two crossed lines) and Bailey (two crossed lines) are sort of considered 'weaklings'. Their eyes have no spark or color, and the edginess of the lines are sort of like.. 'yeah, whatever. you're that, that's all you'll be.'
One of the harder-to-name eyes, an assortment of black dots following a hollow circle. The hollow represents the eye's wearer, and the blacks are friends, family, coworkers, fellow warriors, etc. A very defensive sign, this J'kon would keep the group together, protecting them all with their life. No matter how monotone-spirited the J'kon would be, the group would never be the same without them. A living tank and support, with little regard for themselves.
A vertical line is a razor's edge, a soulless warrior that only sees their weapon.
A horizontal line is like a chess piece, judging the world in black and white. What's good is good, what's bad is bad, and anything in between should be judged harshly for whatever they have to hide.
Both of them are basically 'tool' types, used by other J'kon for their judgement rather than any personality they may have.
A diamond outline would be like a sharpened rock, with a sharp mind behind it. Tacticians in battle, diamonds would think of formations, then put on the front lines to test their theories. If 'un-used', a diamond would also be a worthy thief, able to target their goals from far away. Usually focused.
Lines that near but do not cross are 'scrambled' sort of. Lines that would have crossed at the top have a positive outlook on life, watching the world from high places. Lines that would have crossed on the bottom scurry about the forest floors and tunnels, some becoming highwaymen type robbers. Both are more content with simply watching passerby; so close, but never meeting.
Of course, these colorless crosses and angles are a rare sort, 'doomed to their destinies' without a rightful passion. Clark's eyes are really fascinating though, colorless but correct, depicting a white crosshair on his silvery lenses. He is doomed to the world of interests and logic, experiencing the world from afar, but enjoying it just the same. Dead to the world yet full of life, a rather curious pair of eyes.
Eye Profiles: Assorted + info
As human pupils contract and cat eyes turn to slits, J'kon's eyes work just the same. A spiral eye would tighten and loosen on the expression the J'kon has. Calm, it would be very loose, and tighten into a small, tight coil when surprised. A excited, fascinated or particularly pondering J'kon's spiral eyes might even spin, as spirals do.
The shape and color of an eye go hand in hand, and are as complicated (or deceptively simple) as a J'kon may be. From a black square to a colorful kaleidoscope mess, each J'kon eye is different. Most are no more than 3 colors maximum, and they must all 'work', as defined in the spiral description, changing expressively. There are no known cases of heterochromia.
Under this break is a to-be-added-to list of known eye types. Not all may contain names.
Pictured: Aerial Electricity Witch. Eyes Division, Markings of freckle and fade, tail of Little Wings. A very agile Aerial that loves the 'divide and conquer' tactic, merciful if prey escapes.
Species Profile: Aerial J'kon
Physical Traits: Smaller, Winged, longer tail, smaller hooves. Two side-claws are smaller than the main pointer 'finger'.Grow manes at a faster rate than the Earthen J'kon. Fur markings more 'tribalistic' and decorated, and tones are warmer in coloration. Typically the Arial's wings are around it's midsection, some whose wings are higher, around the shoulder, are known as Royal Aerials, and are the best in their
Magical Traits: For what the Aerials lack in physical strength, they make up for in natural attunement. Although the most household magic is weak, such as igniting candles, Aerials that assert their magic disposition go on to become Witches, magic users and healers. Common elements a Aerial may attune to are Fire, Wind, or Lightning, in order. Others casually practice concealing magic, like camouflage. The concept of Levitation is above a J'kon's understanding.
Village Traits: Aerials that have not chosen the magical way of life live in normal Earthen J'kon villages, as servants and 'petty' workers, such as babysitting, caring, midwifes, etc. Although by human standards these can be seen as 'feminine jobs', working Aerials are revered by Earthen warriors, as they protect the families in wartime. If a Aerial is seen as a traitor or murderer when working, they are eaten whole by the closest related warrior or village chieftain.
Name: Bailey
Occupation: Brother, Ex-Villager, Cursed
Basics: Male, currently about 26 years of age.
Eyes of Saltire: Bad omen. Early death, short-lived. Evil tendencies, or a weak foe. Eyes of Cross, or Wheel. Sturdy, balanced. Life-bringing, In tune with the world and it’s duties. Good health, focused and helpful.
Tail of Dragon’s Back: Riding heroic winds through life easily.
Markings of Directional Stripe: Directional. Leadership positions.
Earliest History: Because Bailey was born with a rare and unlucky eye sign, his parents raised him to be very calm and collected, as the eye’s neutral set was slightly askew to be brushed off as the Wheel. Although other of the species would ‘trash’ a Saltire child, the parents find it much like owning a black cat. Whatever cats are. This way of raising has caused Bailey to be very aloof, mellow and calm, almost to a fault.
Early History: A rowdy child that showed little emotion, Bailey's fighting style was almost dancy, much unlike that which a J'kon has ever seen. His parents were never ones to scold him, just as he was never one to pay attention to their reading of human books. Humans were boring, but the world was what interested him. When he caught his parents leaving, he vowed that 1. He will care for Clark until he is old enough to care for himself, and they shouldn't worry, and 2. He will not be captive to the village forever, and will follow them to the ends of the world if they would never return.
Bailey eventually did leave, taking along food, some big leaves, and a dictionary. His note simply read,
Take care.
Current Whereabouts:
Unknown.
Description, other: His fur is relatively short, except for his mane which has grown well to fit his shape. Having been babied as a child, Clark later also adopts a similar mane-style, still adoring his ‘cool’ older brother long after they are gone.
Name: Clark
Occupation: Villager, Scholar, Late Orphan
Basics: Male, currently about 17 years of age.
Eyes of Crosshair, Tail of Gold Victory, Markings of Soft Spots. Aside from speculated 'focused' from Crosshair, this mixture is very rare. No fortunes available.
Earliest History: Born to a adventurous mother and father, Clark was a well-behaved child, raised as the family believed humans raised their children. A bit pampered, the savageness of his fellow J'kon led Clark to stay mostly at home reading his family books, where the other whelps would visit him.
Early History: Eventually, Clark's parents disappeared in the morning, leaving his brother Bailey to care for Clark since about age 7. Whatever caused the parents to leave was very important to them, to leave their children at such young ages. Eventually, his Brother also leaves, believing he 'just knows' where the parents have gone to, and promises to return. Alone, Clark is bullied to fight in the village's hunting army, and eventually wears his claws down with a knife in a desperate attempt to show how useless he would be in a fight, wishing to be left to his studies. With the newfound clumsiness, combined with his bad eyes, the village obliged.
Current Whereabouts: Clark, having spent the remaining 5 years alone with a small group of friends in the village, has become quite the scholar. He has begun learning more English words, and has nearly read the entire library fortune left to him. Although, with no one to pronounce the words to him, his English is rather messy when he tries to speak it to anyone. With all the knowledge he re-reads every day, Clark wishes to prove the existence of Humanity and the world around the Island, but is often viewed as crazy by his neighbors.
Monster's Island is a collection of information on the J'kon tribe, inhabitants of a unknown island in a unknown location on a unknown world.
It 'revolves' around Clark, a well learned Longclaw, and his family's interesting habit: 'What are humans?'
