Maybe he should have thought this through properly before jumping into action. But he wasn’t the type of person to do that. If it had been something crucial, something serious, something that could impact his life ot the life of other’s in a negative way– then maybe he would have took a minute to think twice. However, the tengu had been so full of excitement he simply couldn’t contain the urge to fly high. To him, it was a pleasant feeling and he wanted to share the experience with Kazumi, though he had been too ignorant to even consider her opinion on this matter. Hell, he didn’t even notice her tense body or the sound of fear in her voice while carrying her. Tarou stood there a little dumbfounded by her reaction– did he seriously expect her to be as excited as him? After all, she was part of the student council, she followed rules and made sure other students did the same. This was just… an exception. Right.
For a moment he completely forgot about her status and role. For a moment he viewed her as someone who’d be on the same wave length as him. Someone who was like a friend. But that idea was shattered the moment her next words reached him. I hate you. That’s kinda harsh– he thought, but he didn’t bother to speak up. The rush of happiness from before seemed to have left his body completely. It was almost as if his mood dropped suddenly. He didn’t know what to do now. He didn’t have any plan. He just wanted to sneak out and then do whatever he felt like doing. But right now? It was kinda hard to figure out what he wanted. If it was just him, he would probably fly around and just enjoy the view. But with Kazumi here he couldn’t really do such a thing, he now knew that she didn’t like flying… though, it would have been great if he knew it before scaring her like this.
Ah. So that was the feeling inside his chest, he felt guilty. However, regretting his decisions wouldn’t change anything, the damage had already been done. A faint smile formed on his lips as he scratched the back of his head. The Kitsune was mad, he got that now. Did she really have to sound so cold though? He just wanted to have fun with her but instead, he managed to get her to dislike him even more than she already did. A small sigh left him. “If you don’t want to do anything that has to do with me and you don’t wanna be caught hanging out with me, then what else is there for you to do? Stand around and do nothing?” She was here to keep an eye on him, so her only option would be to follow him, even if she didn’t like it.
“A bucket list?” He placed a hand to his chin as he thought for a moment. Since this wasn’t the first time he managed to sneak out, he already knew the area, so there was nothing new for him to check out. And honestly, he was more curious about what the oh so serious rep liked to do in her free time. “Not really. I just wanted to be outside. And since you’re here with me now, I think it would be nice to get to know each other. After all, you’re friends with my brother.” His gaze shifted up to the sky as he spoke. It was a nice blue sky with a few clouds here and there. Just looking at it made him feel a little better, thus a sigh left him. “You are scared of heights.” He still didn’t look at her. “I’m scared of losing people I care about. There. Now we both know a little bit more about one another.” A satisfied smile appeared on his face before he met her gaze. “Let’s go for a walk, shall we?”
As she tried to shake off the very last bits of fright that still lingered on her, the kitsune caught a quick glimpse of the other’s expression. A dumbfounded look — a face’s manner of saying “I am surprised!” or “I am amazed!” without actually uttering it — was prominent on his features. The female stared at him without muttering a single word nor a sound before turning away from him abruptly. Without knowing one thing about Kazumi, one would assume she saw something terrifying behind the man — like a spider that she was absolutely terrified of — or perhaps she was preparing herself to simply walk off, go back to school and tell the higher-ups about the terrible, terrible thing Tarou has done this very day. However, if one was to spend some time with the female and somehow get her to speak about herself, they would be quick to find out that she was simply embarrassed.
Embarrassment, as many are aware, refers to the feeling of shame or awkwardness often associated with mild or severe discomfort. As some may be aware, if someone was to point out that you have a piece of toilet paper stuck to your shoe, you would most likely ran away to the nearest bathroom in shame and get rid off the terrible cause of your humiliation. However, as many may not be aware, Kazumi is very much capable of experiencing embarrassment and she was VERY much confronting it right at this moment. Turning away from Tarou meant she could prevent him from looking at her quickly reddening face that continued to hang low, that faced her crossed arms.
His words didn’t help her state, but made it worse instead. Unknowingly to him, kitsune’s face scrunched up ever so slightly and her cheeks only flushed harder at his utterances. Not only did he get to see the weaker side of her ( which was an achievement on its own, so perhaps for Tarou this wasn’t as devastating as for Kazumi ), but he was right nonetheless in what he tried to get at. If she TRULY did not want to do what she said she didn’t want to do — namely spend time with him or be seen with him after sneaking out of the school — then why was she still there? Was it really to JUST supervise him? Or did she saw this as a perfect opportunity to stretch out her legs, let herself loose just this one time, and simply spend this free time in a nice way? Of course she still stood by her words, she didn’t want to be seen with him, not because she hated him like she has murmured earlier, but rather because it would only bring more embarrassment if someone was to see them.
She didn’t dare to turn around and look at him, even though it would be the respectable thing to do especially when said person is talking to you. Thus, she remained as she was but attentively listened to the tengu. At the mention of the his brother — a fellow tengu named Jirou, that she seemed to be fond of and often played chess with — the kitsune straightened herself suddenly as she felt new wave of awkwardness. It was true that she was closer to the other tengu, and nothing was stopping her from getting to know Tarou. She exhaled loudly. By now, she guessed that it wouldn’t hurt to do as he suggested, and thus her lips parted. “I just prefer to stay on ground... but I am scared of spiders” she said with a bit more confidence before meeting his gaze. “ And just like you... I am an older sibling.” she added at last and already started to walk past him slowly. “Well... yes. I could go for a walk right about now. I think it would be a well-spent time” a small smile graced her face before quickly getting hidden.
