I got some Jax pins at Hot Topic yesterday because I miss my purple punk of a jackrabbit so much. Isn't she lovely? 🥺 just referencing the song makes me tear up🥺
Do you guys hate Chris Thorndyke as a character or HOW he was written?
I hate him as a character
I hate HOW he was written
What's the difference
I humanized Blaze the Cat. I love Silver so much and I just really like Blaze that I drew her as a human. Not sure about the hair, but I am happy with her face.
You guys know my Sonic OC, Mira, right? Well, I made a video about her a while ago and while I am happy how she came out, I still feel like I can do more for her. I want her to blend in as a Sonic character, but I don’t know how to do it. Thankfully, fellow tumblr artist, @astrophysician, is not only a Sonic fan, but a very skilled character designer. I find them so smart about designing characters that I asked them about MIra, even asking them for some criticism, and thankfully they responded and gave me the criticism I need to make my OC more Sonic-like. Here’s everything they said:
“ The inspiration from Silver is clear in the cuffs and soles. Given that she’s from Silver’s time and knows him. It’s likely that she might have found similar technology to his, so that’s fine. However, I would encourage you to consider giving Mira her own look anyway. Sonic characters are each very distinct like that. I want to see technology/accessories made specifically for Mira, because it would tell me a lot about who she is and what she can do! ”
I didn’t know how I should give Mira her own design as a girl from the future, especially since designing futuristic clothes is still a bit of a learning curve for me. That is until I thought of Baymax from Big Hero 6.
You know how Baymax’s eyes are just two dots connected with a line? Well that’s where I got the idea for her design on her cuffs and maybe a pattern for her dress. I don’t know what to make Mira’s cuffs for her though. Mira has healing powers from her hands and fertilizing powers from her feet, but she’s born with them and normally has complete control of them and I don’t see how her cuffs would have anything to do with her powers. She’s a major geography enthusiast, to the point where Silver jokes that she’s a walking GPS with wings, but I don’t see how her cuffs would be useful for her since she’s just that good with geography. Well, except for maybe looking up for coordinates, because I don’t plan on having Mira to be THAT thorough. Mira idolizes Sonic as a hero so much that she wants to be a hero like him and make the world a better place. So maybe she uses her cuffs to do research about him, but that would make her cuffs a smartwatch, so not an unique idea. I was almost in a rut, but I do have a headcannon that I would like to share:
According to the Sonic wiki page, there was a website for Sonic 2006 and it said that apparently, the people in Silver’s era have psychic powers, and it’s completely normal. The problem is that the site also has so many inaccuracies, that it’s likely non-cannon. But I still like the idea though. I like the idea that Silver is not the only psychic in his era and do you know what else are psychics? Telepaths. This doesn't apply to all telepaths but they’re, at best, a nuisance in Silver’s era, but at worst, very predatory. Always looking for someone vulnerable to prey on and exploit. Fortunately, there’s technologically advanced accessories that people can wear to protect them from the perverted mind-readers so Mira wears them for protection and yes Silver has them too. I mean even if Silver’s a telepath too, it shouldn’t mean he’s immune to them, so why not?
“the only other thing i might tweak about her clothes would be to add a secondary somewhere. i like the dark blue but it’s a bit overwhelming when it’s on every single part of her— changing or adding a color on the shoes or gloves would help. this can be small— only a single strip or panel would do. i’d recommend white or the same light blue color of her wings!”
I may be a little harsh on myself, but as I said before, drawing futuristic clothes are a bit of a learning curve for me because there’s so much variety of how people interpret it of what futuristic fashion would be like. Like say, The Jettsons’ atompunk style to Cyberpunk. Stressing myself on making it perfect doesn’t help either, especially since Mira’s original dress looks more like a regular modern dress if you get rid of the cuffs. However, I think I managed to make a passable futuristic dress. Do I like it? Not exactly, but I like it enough that I think it’s something that Silver’s people would wear and I’m gonna stick with it until I find a more satisfying futuristic dress for her. I decided to add a white strap onto her dress since Astro finds the blue a bit overwhelming. They also suggested adding white on her gloves and well, I did apply to that, but it ended up feeling unbalanced between white and blue, so went with gray.
“The biggest critique I have is her hair and skin tone. Bugs are not typically known for having hair or skin, so it feels a bit off. Try looking at photos of butterflies (or any insect that interests you) and see if you can find some interesting shapes on their heads. If you're married to the hair, I think it can work if you make it a less natural color, or pure black since that’s already in her design. If you end up going that route, a ponytail or braid would be cute and keep her hair away from her wings so she can fly more easily! the little curly bang is a good touch btw, it reminds me of a butterfly’s curled up proboscis”
The swirl is probably intentional and not just because I thought it’s a cute design. Anyways, Astrophysics brought up Charmy and Jewel as examples of Sonic bugs. Neither of them have hair and Charmy only gets away with it because of his helmet whereas his skin tone is because of his warm color palette. Jewel doesn’t have any hair but a shell and she has a white mussel to make her less of a human and more of a bug. Not gonna lie, at first I thought it was a little egregious since there’s only two official Sonic bugs. That is until I started to think about it. The more I think about it, the more it makes more sense and the more I realize that I might've made Mira more human-like and less bug-like. Not my intention. The hair is where I started next and let me tell you it’s not easy. I was looking up butterfly fur and found nothing but learned that apparently the fuzz on bugs aren’t fur nor hair but chitin which is
… that. I tried to have Mira’s antennas designed as braids or pigtails, like how Cream’s ears look like pigtails, but it ended up making her look like a dog. I tried to look up butterfly heads but they all look the same to me, except for the blue morphis butterfly
which I thought that’s the key to giving Mira a new hairstyle. Unfortunately, I couldn’t figure out how to draw Mira’s hairstyle based on the blue butterfly’s head. I mean I did try
but there’s just something about it that feels off. Don’t get me wrong, it has potential, I just need to find a new angle. Because I couldn’t figure it out yet, I stuck with the hair only this time, I tied it up like Astrophysics suggested and it’s a bubble braid because what better way than to emulate it as a caterpillar? Mira’s mussel was pretty tricky. In fact, I still don’t know what color is better for her. I tried a pastel blue, but it gives Mira a more icy feel, like she has ice powers. I tried giving her a pink mussel, but it felt weird. I tried a pastel yellow, but it still came out as skin-colored. I even tied a pastel grey, but it feels more off. Eventually, I nearly gave up with the mussel, but I stick with the pink since it’s supposed to be her secondary color. Blue is her primary color, which by the way if you’re wondering why her wings are different, is because I’m not good with consistency. I even forgot what shade of blue I used for her wings until writing the script where I was trying to figure out where to put Mira’s side view.
Speaking of wings, I didn’t mention this earlier and Astrophysics doesn’t know it either only because I didn’t tell them that (sorry Astro), but the real reason why Mira’s wings are blue and see-through is because her wings are made of graphene. For those who don’t know what graphene is, they’re a special type of material that’s thinner than paper and stronger than steel. I learned that from Big Hero 6 The Series, where a villain named Momakase
who has graphene blades as her weapons and her blades are see-through and dangerous. They can cut through anything like butter, even steel. That’s where I got the idea for Mira’s wings but with a spin, they’re detachable so she uses them as swords or knives as she pleases, but she never uses them to hurt people. In case Mira loses a piece of her wing, they regrow new ones. Also graphene is more flexible than rubber, which is something that I found out when doing my own research and because of that, I thought Mira can use them as restraints since that’s what she normally does when dealing with her enemies before resorting to fighting. Which, the more I talk about it, the more it’s making me second guess whether or not I should let her have graphene wings or give normal regular see-through wings and give her graphene blades hidden somewhere in her person. Mira has healing and fertilizing powers, is it really necessary to give her unusual wings? Why would I give graphene wings when she already has her own powers? That question is coming from my idea of how I like to think about Silver’s world: Not everyone has psychic powers nor are they restricted to only having psychic powers. They can have other powers and in Mira’s case, there’s butterflies that have wings that are other materials that aren’t scales. To elaborate, there’s butterflies that have wings that are made of electricity, water, copper, you name it and Mira doesn’t really stand out from her species of her era. But her healing and fertilizing powers does make her a target for all sorts of horrible people that want her powers for selfish or even power-hungry reasons. So Mira keeps them a secret with only Silver, Shadow and Omega knowing about them. And yes, I have Shadow and Omega to be at Silver’s era. Everything I said is really just a head-cannon of mine when it comes to Silver’s world and now I’m not sure if I still want to incorporate it. What do you guys think? I would love to hear some feedback from this after the video is over and Thank you so much @astrophysician so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching. Take care.
Does anyone know what's going on with Tumblr? I tried to upload my new post, but whenever I try to upload my 4th picture, it doesn't accept it and it just says that there's an error? Is there something going on? Is it fixable? If so what can I do?
Normally, I ask professional artists if I did okay referencing the picture for practice, but I think I should ask this instead: is the key to drawing a skeleton is to draw a lot of hearts?
Because I felt like I drew tons of hearts when referencing it (though that could be because I've been making tons of mistakes and erasing it, especially the ribcage.
Guys I feel so lame for not realizing this earlier and despite watching it a few more times before this: Whisper actually opened her eyes once in Tails Tube.
They still look beautiful though (and intimidating at the same time)
Hey I like your art and you're really skilled at drawing Sonic characters and it looks like you know a lot about character design. So I gotta ask and maybe I could have criticism: does my OC look like she could blend in as a character? If so, what would you recommend?
By the way, I named her Mira, she has healing powers and fertilizing power, and she's from Silver's era and is a close friend of his. (Sorry about my watermark)
hi there! thank you, i’m glad you like my art! character design is a passion of mine so i’m happy to take a look.
i really like this design! mira seems like a very cute character. on the whole i think the design has very good bones; you’re clearly picking up on the sonic design philosophy. i really like the dress and shoes! the wings are also a nice shape with just the right amount of complexity.
the inspiration from silver is clear in the cuffs and soles of the shoes. given that she’s from silver’s time and knows him, it’s likely that she might have found similar technology to his, so that’s fine. however, i would encourage you to consider giving mira her own look anyway. sonic characters are each very distinct from one another in details like that. the only exceptions i can think of are basic rules like white gloves and tails copying sonic’s look a bit. i want to see technology/accessories made specifically for mira because it would tell me a lot about who she is and what she can do!
the only other thing i might tweak about her clothes would be to add a secondary somewhere. i like the dark blue but it’s a bit overwhelming when it’s on every single part of her— changing or adding a color on the shoes or gloves would help. this can be small— only a single strip or panel would do. i’d recommend white or the same light blue color of her wings!

both of them have round heads and no hair. charmy gets away with this by wearing a helmet, while jewel has a shell on her head that mimics a bob.
imo, charmy only gets away with having a human-like skin tone because the rest of his color palette is warm tones. jewel on the other hand is blue and pure white! it lends to her bugginess.
i think you should lean into this for mira too. being a bug AND a magical being from the future, you have an easy opportunity to try out weird skin/carapace tones.

Eeee🌟 Thank you so much. I'll see what I can do for Mira's design.

I'm back with a new video here's the link:
And here's the script:
I’ve decided to try different screen recording softwares such as OBS and Krita’s recording tool and compare them to Zoom’s screen record because that’s what I normally use to record. I haven’t decided yet, but I’m thinking of changing the tools I have to make my videos because I think I should give my videos an upgrade. I’m not a tech-expert, but I feel like ALL recording tools take up storage, but I want something that’s the best option for me and my computer. I also need some insight if any of these are safe or some advice if there’s a better way of using these tools. Please note: I’m not an expert, I’m only explaining things from my experience. If you want to know more of these apps, there’s plenty of videos on YouTube that will explain it waaay better I can. Also I used a different video editing app to make this video, so if you notice the difference in quality, you’ll know why and it’s Shotcut.
The first recording app isn’t technically an app, but an actual tool Krita has. I was looking up if Krita has a recording tool and it turns out they do. I don’t have Procreate where you can automatically record your art, so when I find out that you can record in Krita, it’s just something that I have to try. Yeah, if you look at the video, it has such a crisp timelapse. As much as I want to use it for future projects, it’s not for me for two things: 1) It takes so much storage than I thought. The recording tool records by taking snapshots of every stroke you make. According to their own manual it’s because it relies on FFMpeg and it shows. My storage was packed with screenshots, making my storage space almost full, making me delete the frames, just to get it back. And what I’m showing you isn’t even from the timelapse, it's from a different project just to show you guys what I’ve been through because 2) It’s tricky to use, at least to me. This is probably coming from, since I’m still learning how to use it, but when I was recording or trying to record, I got interrupted for some reason and it just stopped by itself. It could be a connection issue or the tool itself, but I don’t know what it is. Going back to the storage issue that I mentioned, it could be possible that the recording is taking so much storage that it ruins the timelapse, forcing my computer to stop recording, at least that’s what I believe, I really don’t know for sure, but it sure does feel like it. I can delete the frames from the painting process after the timelapse is well processed, I can’t have a timelapse without the frames and so far I don’t know how to adjust the timelapse. While I can use it to make shorts, I don’t think it would be suitable for long videos and I don’t think it’s worth taking so much storage and deleting them after recording, so I don’t think I’m going to be using it in the long run. Also, in case you're wondering what I’m drawing here: I was drawing Silver and Blaze from Sonic the Hedgehog hugging and in human form. What do you think?
Next up is OBS Studio. I wasn’t sure if I should use this in the long run. It’s popular for gamers and streamers alike, which I don’t see myself doing the later any time soon, but I can use it to screen record my art and to be honest, I don’t have any problems, so far. Especially on my first try. Of course, it would record the entire screen, even when you first started, but I think this is the best way to screen record my process. I don’t know if you can tell, but as you can see here, this drawing is supposed to be Sonic and Amy but genderbended. I was in a shipping mood for those two as well as a gender swapping, so I put them together and had Fem!Sonic playfully poking Male!Amy’s nose, which by the way I have a lot of fun drawing them together and I really like how it turned out. When I wanted to draw them digitally by using Zoom record, I get interrupted or it just stops for some reason, which I will explain soon. I don’t know what it is, but I‘ve never got a chance to finish them completely. I can be close, but not finished. Krita’s recording tool can’t even let me finish it, for the reasons I mentioned earlier. But OBS actually lets me finish, and I mean lets me finish, even shading. Not perfect, but hey trying and failing is better than doing nothing. Granted, OBS records everything as soon as you click the record button, but I can edit it out and censor personal information when it’s necessary. I have done it before since starting YouTube, so what’s the difference? Honestly, I feel like OBS is probably the best alternative for me to use, but I haven’t decided when to use it in the long run. I really don’t know what else to say other than I get to finish one of my bigger projects and so far I like it. That’s all I have to say for this section, I hope you enjoy my timelapse.
Finally Zoom recording. I don’t think I have to tell when and why I have Zoom in the first place, but I was looking up if there’s any free screen recording apps and apparently Zoom happens to be one of them, so I have to give it a shot for YouTube and use it ever since. I might still be using it until I made up my mind, but that doesn’t mean I can have problems with it. For example, umm… this happens before and I don’t know why it does that, but I can’t take my sweet time on big projects because it would just stop for some reason or another. I’m pretty sure there's a technical reason behind it, but I don’t know if it’s a storage issue, but I don’t know for sure, but it doesn’t feel like a connection issue. When I was trying to draw my gender swapping version of Sonic and Amy digitally, I was using Zoom to record, but I never got to finish it. They were times where I was close, but never finished and yes I tried to start all over multiple times. It gets so frustrating that I almost gave up, if it was not for OBS. I’m not sure if I want to change apps for it, but to be honest, I still see myself using it in future videos. I’m still attached to it as much as I want to find better alternatives for my videos about my art. Speaking of art, I was looking for Sonic scrapped characters and while I do find a good handful of them having tons of potential, like Tiara, I decided to draw Silk based on my interpretation of what she looks like if she were modernized. I do like the dress and I do feel like I should’ve kept the poncho on, I liked how she came out to be. That is until I drew her digitally. Thanks to the hair I decided to give her, she gives off dog vibes and I don’t like it. The bracelets don't help either; they’re supposed to be gems, but end up looking more like spikes. I could’ve scrapped the video and start over and redraw her hair and bracelets, but I don’t want to, especially since I finished drawing at the time. But when I get the time and energy to do it, I can make a video about and hopefully try to add textures to it. I was never satisfied with any of my art in digital form; it just feels amateurish and unfinished and since we’re, I gotta ask; to any professional artists out there, how do you add textures? Please let me know in the comments and I hope you enjoy my timelapse.
Aaand then we’re done. I’ll say this again; I’m not tech-savvy, I’m only sharing my experiences, and they’re not even full-on experience, mind you. I want to try something new and give my videos an upgrade. Thanks for watching. take care.
February 6 is fan art day for Sonic The Hedgehog, so in advance I decided to humanized my favorite character, Silver the Hedgehog and use some references. What do you think? Honestly I'm not that good with futuristic clothes, but I did my best. Also I like how I give him a baggy jacket.
A little late to the party, I know, but I can't help myself. Besides Sonic, I'm also a Spy x Family fan and I just want to share because of how absurdly hilarious Yuri was at that moment. Normally Yuri is a mixed bag for me for a few reasons, but he can get a laugh out of me. Also I gotta ask: is it just my imagination or does Yuri looked like a western cartoon on the left for a bit?
So... I was only looking up for Glitch's merch videos 'cause I think they're so good, but I stumbled onto this. I could be jumping into conclusions, but I'm pretty sure it's AI Generated and you can't convince me it's not, unless evidence is given otherwise. I mean none of the characters look like any of the Amazing Digital Circus cast. I really hope it's not the case, because of how I hate ai art and the people using it to scam others.
Anyway, thought I'd share this hope to raise awareness of this and hopefully Gooseworks would see it. Please, let me know if it's real or not. I want to know for sure.
I thought Neopets are discontinued. Are they still around?
I've been feeling a bit of a Silvaze mood recently. So I looked for whatever I could find of the two together throughout the comics, even as something as small as that panel of them shopping together.
Does anyone know how to draw Tails properly? I have such a hard time drawing him.
