Lamp Post One
Texturing by Nick
Nick is continuing to texture assets while scenes are being UV unwrapped.
Character rig for 'ODDBOTS' animated short film.
Rigging and modeling by Claudia Blackburne. Rigging assisted by Jeremy Taylor.
Scene One: Train Station
Texturing by Nick
After experiementing with small assets, Nick textured the train station scene. The train is currently not textured as we're still researching 1920 train models for texture reference.
Mason Jar & Light Bulb
Texturing by Nick
As Nick is new to painting he began texturing small assets to experiement with different textures and 3D materials.
Z203
Texturing by Kate
Rendering by Claudia
Kate put the background paintings on hold to tackle the character before rigging. Kate and Claudia worked together when texturing the arms to avoid obvious distortion when his arms extend.
Shot 5: City Streets
Modeling by Claudia
Claudia's completed her last modeling task and can now begin animating. Once the road and pathway is textured Claudia will add subtle bumps to the models to give more depth to the scene.
The group is still discussing whether to add small assets in the windows of the stores and small objects to clutter the road.
Scene 6: Bridge
Modeling by David
This is our second scene which Kate will be digitally painting and animating both the character and dynamics in 2D. David has provided her with the environment blocking as the base of the background painting.
Scene 4: Shot Revision & Completion
After a group meeting, we worked collaboratively to reposition the assets and create a more dynamic framing of the environment.
Scene 4: Urban Streets
Modeling by Claudia
In order to get our film completed before the end of the semester, we have had to find ways in which we could reuse assets for different environments. The houses created by Claudia were developed for this very purpose, by keeping them quite simple in their geometry we can reuse them in different scenes by simply changing the textures. The left render is the current composition for the shot which we are working collaboratively to strengthen.
Scene 3: Factory Interior
Modeling by David
David was given a lot of creative control over the design and layout of the factory interior. He took on board directions from Kate and Claudia while adding assets to give the scene a lot of personality.
This scene may be given more detail in post-production, as we are discussing possibilities for additional pipes to run along the back wall.
Scene 2: 3D and Digital Painting Intergration
Painting by Kate
Modeling by Claudia
From the render Claudia created, Kate was able to use it as a base in photoshop to digitally paint the scene. This aided her in maintaining the original perspective of the shot and the lighting, and shadows created in 3D space.
Texture References/Inspiration
Claudia mocked this collage up which contains several references from other animated films to help the team with the overall aesthetic and setting for film - especially for texturing and modeling.
