“Una Mostra da Napoli” – Opening, June 11, 5:30-7:30 pm
This June, the Foundation will present a special exhibition opening Thursday, June 11, of two artists from Naples, Italy, the work of painter, Gennaro Regina, and filmmaker Sharunya Galickaite-Varriale.
The source of Gennaro Regina’s inspiration is Vesuvius and in counterpoint to the Bay of Naples, elicits the very tension, between beauty experienced now and the momentous force of the unknown.
Sharunya, a filmmaker, producer, and director, will offer a special treat with the screening of her animated independent film, “Sebastian,” as well as some of newest and yet unrealized films.
andar PERUANO: Opening, May 7, 5:30-7:00 pm
Peruvian photographer Ana Maria Garcia-Montero will present an exhibition of color photographs of the iconic Peruvian Paso horse, considered a Cultural Heritage of Peru. Ana Maria invites the world to see this majestic creature in the quietness of their farms, the ritual of daily training, or their jaunts through rural coastlines.
We are very pleased to welcome the Ambassador of Peru, Dr. Luis Miguel Castilla, and the Consul General of Peru, Augustin De Madalengoitia, who will open this exhibition.
Workshops with Columbia College will be held at the Foundation.

A Saint Patrick’s Day Weekend Reminder
PETER MURRAY
Director of the Crawford Gallery of Art, Cork, Ireland will present
Aspects of Contemporary and 20th Century Irish Art in the Crawford’s Collection
4pm, Sunday, March 15, 2015
John David Mooney Foundation • International Currents Gallery
114 West Kinzie, Chicago, IL 60654
Reception follows the talk
Peter Murray has diligently acquired recent Irish art for the Crawford. He is author of Three Centuries of Irish Art, a book highlighting over 100 works from the Crawford art collection. He is co-editor of Vol. V. of the recently published Yale University Press Art and Architecture, a major multi-volume publication that documents Irish art history from medieval times onward.
The Crawford’s holdings in 18th and 19th century art closely parallel The Art Institute of Chicago’s exhibition, which opens on March 17, Ireland: Crossroads of Art and Design, 1690-1840. The View of Cork from Audley Place by John Butts, circa 1750, from the Crawford’s Collection is such an example.
