ANOK YAI — Met Gala 2026
I have complicated feelings about the Met Gala.
On the one hand, it’s a museum fundraiser. (Good)
On the other hand, it’s not typically framed as a museum fundraiser. Usually when you see photos or articles about it, it’s just “look at this celebrity’s outfit, which cost more than you will make in this entire decade.” (Bad)
On another hand, I do really like looking at their outfits. Easily my favorite this year was Anok Yai, specifically for the hair and makeup. You look like a bronze statue and I am here for it

I think perfection is ugly. Somewhere in the things humans make, I want to see scars, failure, disorder, distortion.
