Tobias and the Angels (1908) by Jacek Malczewski

The inspiration for the painter was the biblical story of Tobit's journey, taken from the Book of Tobit. In the Bible, the companion of the boy wandering with the dog was only the Archangel Raphael. Malczewski's painting depicts all three Archangels known from the Catholic tradition: Raphael, Michael and Gabriel. These figures hold the symbols of a staff, a lily and a sword, according to their main qualities.

For Malczewski, however, these are not male types, but rather feminine, with powerful colorful wings. In Rafał's face you can recognize the face of Malczewski's muse Maria Balowa. Tobias himself is a barefoot boy. In the background, the rural landscape is depicted. The painting was purchased in 1938 from the artist's wife Maria Malczewska in Charzewice.

Iris van Herpen launched her own brand in 2007 after graduating in fashion design from the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem. In 2011, she became a member of the Parisian Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, gaining worldwide acclaim for pioneering 3D printing in fashion. This year, the collection titled Sonic Starquakes drew inspiration from astrophysics and cosmic energy, finding a starting point in the fourth state of matter to create garments that integrated live plasma and transformed models into celestial phenomena.

Rahul Mishra launched his own brand in 2008 after graduating in fashion design from Istituto Marangoni in Milan. In 2020, he became the first Indian designer invited to Paris Couture, and since then he has never missed an appointment. This year, the collection titled Devi: The Eternal Muse drew inspiration from millenary history, art and architecture, finding a starting point in the reliefs of Southern Indian sculptures to create garments that transformed models into statues.
